Revised Walmart coupon policy

Well, even the thought was too good to last.  WalMart has now  issued a revised coupon policy, which specifically targets  Register Rewards.  Here is the quote:

We DO NOT accept the following coupons:

  • Checkout coupons
  • Dollars/cents off the entire basket purchase
  • Percentage off the entire basket purchase
  • What does this mean for us? Nothing, ’cause shopping at WM was never a big turn-on for members of the extreme couponers club.

only thing i like about walmart is watching the shoppers on POW

Glen Ellyn Walmart

Just returned from that black hole of intelligence, aka Walmart.  You have to understand that I don’t have a long-term relationship with Walmart; I don’t equate various life stages with shopping trips.  In short, I’m not a WM diehard.  But if they’re taking RRs and giving me cash back, well, then, they’re my new BF.

Since I’ve gotten a number of emails asking about local WMs accepting coupons, cats and RRs, I decided to print out a copy of the new coupon policy and head over to the Glen Ellyn store on Rte 53.  I think the last time I was there was to pick up the free Gain dish soap – it’s been a while

Stopped first at the customer service counter to make certain that 1) they had knowledge of the new policy and 2) there would be no problems with using RRs.  CS guy has never seen/heard the new policy, it’s not posted anywhere, but since it’s corporate, he’s fine with it; calls over another young man (who must be acting in some sort of mgr capacity) to also approve it.  Other guy has no problems with it or the RRs.  It’s looking promising.

Nothing in stock at a price I’d ever want to pay.  Purex Complete 3-in-1 for $5.47?  i think not.  Found three things – and then DH dropped a couple of oil filters into the cart – so headed over to check out.  Five items, 3 coupons and then I handed over a $5 RR.   Cashier calls over the same mgr guy from earlier encounter at CS … No we can’t take these.  You have to use them at Walgreens.  So somehow the RRs he saw a few minutes earlier have now traveled from the approved side to the RUnutz? part of the WM equation.  Told them to cancel the transaction and give me back my coupons and, no, I didn’t want anything except the mgr’s head on a stick.  (well, that last part I was only thinking, real hard thoughts, though).

cause you cain’t fix stupid…

Wal mart shopping list

Listen, if you’re out shopping Wal mart any time soon, would you mind picking me up a few items?  I’ve listed them here:

Thanks, love ya.

Wal Mart’s new coupon policy

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard about the roar coming out of Wal Mart:  They’ve decided coupons mean business!  Here is the entire policy, which you can print out and take with you.  At the very least, they take catalinas (OYNO), and most RRs (for products they sell), and they now officially give overage!

Meijer MM? or cheap at WM

Saw this on Meijer Madness, which tracks the Detroit area stores, so let’s hope it comes to the Chicagoland area.

There is a $3/1 in this Sunday’s rp insert.  Buy two Gain Fabric Softeners (liquid or sheets) for $3.99  and use two coupons.  When you buy products you get a $3 OYNO.  So the deal would be:  $7.98 less $6 = $1.98 and get back $3.   Do not know yet if this is a store 🙁 or mfr 🙂 cat.  Will update tomorrow with more info.

Again, I have to point out that Jennifer’s site tracks the Michigan stores, which follow the Sunday through Saturday sales cycle, not our Thursday through Wednesday ones.  Having said that, there is an excellent chance that it will be in our area starting Thursday, so stock up on the newspapers, because this is an excellent, high-value coupon to hold in our hot little hands.

Update: It’s also regularly priced at just over $3 at Walmart for those of you who have absolutely no desire to visit a Meijer (but then you’re going to Walmart?), or don’t have one reasonably close.  Or just want to get your hands on the stuff right away.

Changes at Supervalu (Jewel parent)

Or maybe Jewel’s cruel stepmother…. This is an article from Supermarket News on changes that the Jewel CEO has implemented recently in a futile effort to drag us back from Dominicks.   Give this clown a basket of Shoppers Value imitation cheese and kick his ass down the road all the way back to Walmart, from whence he came…

Thanks to vanchan on CW for the OP.

Target

I love to lurk around the various sites supposedly devoted to just one store:  totally target; meijer madness, etc., because you can find some great coupons to print and hold ’cause you just know there’s going to be a good sale in the future.

Case in point is this BOGO for Orbit Tropical Remix gum found on the Walmart site, but which I viewed on Totally Target!  So don’t avoid sites just because you never shop at that store or don’t have one close to you – there’s always something good showing…

Rachel at MUM has a post about Eveready being a Energizer company, so the $1/1 coupons in the 10/3, 11/21, or 12/12 S will all give you free batteries from the Dollar Spot in Target.  While you’re there, pick up some free NYC nail polish by stacking the coupons from the December 2010 ($1/1) and January 2011 ($2/2) All You with the Target only coupons from coupons.com.  More nail polish to join the cult of Revlon in the bathroom and computer desk and dresser and…well, you get the idea.  Oddly enough, I mainly wear OPI, but free is a powerful magnet.  Just tried the fast-drying stuff that was free last week at Wags, and I must admit that I’m majorly impressed – dries fast and lasts quite as long as OPI.  And it’s a purty shade of green...

Meijer (and others) MMs

Hadn’t posted this yet, not that I have any scruples about it (don’t bother wasting your emails), but the $5 combo coupon in the 10/31 P&G for Secret deodorant and Olay body wash (or bar) ALSO WORKS ON THE TRIAL SIZES! I already knew that the deodorant trial size worked, which gave some cheap body wash, but cheap is not the same as free, so I held off on posting.

I now read on a few sites that both the .97 deodorant and the 1.29 body wash trial sizes allow you to use the $5 coupon, so almost a $3 MM!

I honor those whose minds are so twisted that they come up with and attempt these scenarios!   I know Meijer’s carries both these products in trial sizes, but not sure about Target, Wags, CVS, WM, et alia, so if you see ’em, try.

More cheap formula

I really hope that those of you who need it printed out the high value formula coupon the other day…  Another good one, for $5/1 22 oz or larger can of Enfamil powder.  Either click here or go to the sidebar and click.  While Meijer has formula on sale, their online ad only has the ready-to-use cans of Enfamil for $4.99; possibly it’s on sale but not in the ad. Anyone have any formula info on Meijer or other stores, please comment.  The exp. dates on these cans are usually at least a year off and let’s face it, not likely the kid’s gonna switch to beer!

Save those receipts!

A reminder to always save your grocery receipts  – especially when you’ve got a bunch of them from cat deals.  Since Jewel takes coupons after the fact, you never know when there will be a new coupon out there or a friend will give you an insert.

There is another Con Agra rebate form out there for purchases made between 10/12 and 1/02/11, which happens to include the last Jewel Con Agra cat deal!  Click here to print out the rebate form.  I’ve used these in the past, where they say receipts from a supercenter (Wal Mart), but have gotten the booklets using Jewel receipts.  In this case, a $5 Wal Mart gc will come in handy for paying high tax on all your free stuff!   credit to OP on CW (which linked from another site…)
