Meijer MM? or cheap at WM

Saw this on Meijer Madness, which tracks the Detroit area stores, so let’s hope it comes to the Chicagoland area.

There is a $3/1 in this Sunday’s rp insert.  Buy two Gain Fabric Softeners (liquid or sheets) for $3.99  and use two coupons.  When you buy products you get a $3 OYNO.  So the deal would be:  $7.98 less $6 = $1.98 and get back $3.   Do not know yet if this is a store 🙁 or mfr 🙂 cat.  Will update tomorrow with more info.

Again, I have to point out that Jennifer’s site tracks the Michigan stores, which follow the Sunday through Saturday sales cycle, not our Thursday through Wednesday ones.  Having said that, there is an excellent chance that it will be in our area starting Thursday, so stock up on the newspapers, because this is an excellent, high-value coupon to hold in our hot little hands.

Update: It’s also regularly priced at just over $3 at Walmart for those of you who have absolutely no desire to visit a Meijer (but then you’re going to Walmart?), or don’t have one reasonably close.  Or just want to get your hands on the stuff right away.

Free Pasta?

Mueller’s Pasta is on sale for .89 at the Sunday-Saturday Meijers in Michigan, both regular and whole grain.  While this should transfer to our area stores this Thursday, there’s no guarantee.  (There is a Thursday-Sunday ad which, oddly enough, is the same for both states, but it doesn’t show up there.)  It does go on sale often enough that it makes sense to click here to register at Mueller and download a $1/1 coupon – a pdf with a March 3, 2011 expiration date ~ enjoy!  If you’ve registered with them in the past, you won’t be able to download any coupons, so use another email.

I’ve got to start making more meals incorporating pasta – there’s bound to be more out there than just spaghetti and meatballs!  thanks to meijermadness, which started me on all this hunting around

Free Kiosk Movie Codes

The following Redbox codes were posted on Meijer madness (love her site):

V7J6D4V – Valid anywhere
BREAKROOM – Valid anywhere
DVDONME – Valid anywhere
REDBOX – Valid for first time redbox users only
N3WY3AR – Valid at McDonald’s locations only
DVDATWAG – Valid at Walgreens locations only
DVDATMAC – Valid at McDonald’s locations only
DVDKROG – Valid at Kroger locations only

There was also a code given out last night on the Jimmy Kimmel show for the Blockbuster Express kiosks (found inside Dominicks and outside many Speedways):  MOVIENIGHT

You should know that not all codes work, even when they say “all locations,” so be prepared with the list.  Meijer Madness posts about deals in and around Detroit, so don’t rush off to a Chicagoland Meijer for that freebie whatever – you will be disappointed!

Check your mperks coupons!

Meijer added a whole group of deals to the program.  I checked my account and have a $5/5 coupon, bunch of “off” produce ones, and other good things.  I’ve also read of free 1/2 gallons of milk, $2/$2, $10/$30 and various other combinations.  If you haven’t yet registered your cell phone number with them or need to check your current coupons, click here.  Hey, any time they want to give me free stuff, I’m on it.  Besides, we have to go there for the SB milk anyway!

More milk?

Now why, you may ask, would a sane person buy nine more gallons of Dean’s milk at Wags for $1.99 when it will be free at Meijers?  Hah! ’cause it’s Meijers, the notinstockgetaraincheck – store.  This way I hit Meijers, get as many rain checks as I possibly can and sit tight until the stuff comes in, probably in a couple of weeks.   Listen, it’s not like I’m not gonna use this stuff, since we average three gallons a week and we have the polish freezer for another month.

The trunk-cam shows three transactions:  3 Dean’s milk and 1 pill glide.  $11.24 less $3 Wags coupon less $2 Kelloggs rr equals $6.24, get back $5 rr for pill glide.   If you want to calculate it another way (since we subtracted the $2 rr when calculating the net cost of the Special K already), $8.24 less $5 rr or $3.24 for three gallons of Dean’s milk and 1 pill glide.

Just wait until you see my stockpile sale.  Note for the purists:  While i might have donated some of the Sinex, pill glide, etc. items to my local pantry, the fact is that they don’t accept any OTC medications.

Free SB milk

Normally, I won’t make a run to Meijer for one item, unless that item is free milk. Smart Balance milk is currently on sale at Meijer for $1.99 a carton.  Tomorrow’s Smart Source (1/16) is supposed to have a $1.50/1 coupon, which, when stacked with the $1/2 mealbox coupon, equals free milk.  The MM coupon expires 2/4/2011, so plenty of time to redeem if/when there is a lack of stock.  Note:  you should always save MM coupons to your computer, as Meijer has a nasty habit of yanking them early.   I saved the SB and a few others…

Hit them either today (if you get your papers at dollar stores or Menards) or early tomorrow or at least before the Jillites descend…

Meijer online and Freebies

If you are doing any of your holiday shopping at Meijer, place your order(s) the 17, 18th or 19th and get free standard shipping and free returns.  Actually, it’s the latter part that makes me post it here, ’cause rightly or wrongly, I hate the idea of paying for shipping.  Use code NTLSHIP.

Order by December 19th using free standard shipping and they guarantee Christmas delivery.

If you’re shopping at their stores, the only thing I see is free cat treats ($1.00 Friskies Party Mix or Indoor Crunchy 2.1 oz or Whisker Lickins Tender Moments 3 oz 1/$1 Friskies Treats coupon ( 9-12 r) or 2/$2 Friskies or Whisker Lickins treats (11-14 r)

The other FREEBIE is Pompeian olive oil,  stacking mfr and Mealbox coupons.  Click here for Mealbox (you know the drill over there) and here for mfr.  It’s a smartsource coupon, so print, hit back and print again.  (Note:  coupon has not reset from prior sale, so if you printed before, you’re SOL)  Unless you have access to lots of computers, I just can’t see  driving over to pick up one or two oils or cat treats.  Of course, this might be because the last time this sale ran I picked up about 20 oils…

Check out the travel editions of Hasbro games ($5/1 12-5 s) because some of the prices have dropped to under $5, so FREE.  Smart Balance milk is once again on sale for $1.99, but we got screwed in Chicago because the $2 coupon expired on the 15th!  grrr

Save a little, spend a lot

Tonight’s lecture is on the folly of chasing deals.  I am holding Meijer rain checks for 24 Smart Balance milks at $1.99/each; I currently have six coupons.  My question is:  Do I drive to Bolingbrook and see if they’re in stock and if so, do they even have 6?  Let’s assume (not a good idea with Meijer) that the milk is in stock and I can get all six using my $2 coupons – so free milk!  But is it?  Toll charges are $1 and the trip will require a minimum of one hour driving and shopping.  Now I can drive a mile to Jewel, where the SB milk is $2.49 and pay (gasp!) .49 for each of the six milks and be back home in a matter of minutes, or save the $3 and hit Meijer… guess what I did (hint:  got more stamps).

You may counter that there are other deals to be had this week at Meijer, but frankly, free pet treats doesn’t justify the trip.  Maybe next week…

Meijer mPerks – Update

Pah!  Coupon is $10 off any $50 or more on general merchandise, good only December 1 and 2 (today and tomorrow).  no doubling or tripling – no other exclusions Bestlife buttery spread is starting to look good to me…

I periodically visit the mPerks site to see what new coupons are available (I add them all – no limit and no telling what’ll show up on clearance!).  I have to make a trip there this week to stock up on the SB milk (I still have rain checks for about 24).  While “clipping” this morning, I noticed the top banner read:

I’ll make sure to visit the site tomorrow morning to see just how much they want to pay me to shop…  Dear god, I hope it’s not something connected with Bestlife Buttery Spread!

Meijer – current shopping – $49.21

I’m putting this out as a sticky and will add as needed.

Free Mayo:  First of all is a great deal on the 30 oz jars of Hellmans, both mayo and Miracle Whip, for $1.49 each, limit 2.  There is a .75 ip here and a .50 in the 11/14 rp, which you stack with the Mealbox coupons here. Note that the .75 coupon requires you to register and, in my case anyway, only allowed one print – ymmv.  For the lousy extra quarter you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it.  I’m not linking to the coupon directly, but sending you to the Mealbox home page.  Go through all the coupons listed under “specials” and add whatever you want to your shopping list.  When finished, hit print as pdf. That way you can save them to your desktop or wherever you want and you’ll still have them whether Meijer takes them down or not.  Better safe….. Also check out the tab marked “custom coupons” which lists many/most of the catalinas currently running at Meijer.

Almost Free Coffee:  I’ve seen this on a number of sites, all with varying prices and dates, but according to the new IL Thurs-Wed ad and the “specials” section on the Mealbox site, this deal makes for almost free coffee.  Buy two of the Seattle’s Best coffee for 11.98; use two $1/1 from 9/19 s.  Add two of the Int’l Foods single serve boxes which run≈ $2; use .75/1 from 10/10 s.  [you have to add two since the trigger is $15] At this point you’re at approximately $12.50.  Buying these items together generates a $5 instant discount.  You will also receive a $1.50 mfr cat for each Seattle’s Best you purchase and a bonus $3 Meijer store cat.  After figuring in all the discounts, etc., you are looking at almost free for all that coffee.

Back from Meijer, where I ran four transactions.   The $49.21 might seem high (for a tightwad), but it doesn’t include the four $3 Meijer store cats or the three $1.50 mfr cats [if included, my OOP would be $35.71].  So for the record, here’s what I came home with:  4 SB milk (used $2 coupon and $1.99 rain check; 1 bag sugar; 8 Hellman’s mayo; 12 LOL unsalted butter; 12 Seattle’s Best coffee (mostly organic).  I’m content…
