The rain, the Target and other things…

Picked up a few more of the CPK pizzas at Ultra; I’d get more but they don’t ever stock enough to use all my coupons!  Remember, for each four you pay $1.06 (after coupons and cat) so my 24 ran $6.36.

Next I headed over to Target to use up a few more coupons (oh, and get some more cat and dog food).  The Benefuls is a better deal price-wise than CVS ($1.57 vs $2), but if you’re rolling your ecbs it works out better for the 8 on each card.  After that, head over to Target for the overage from the $2 coupon (10/10 rp).  Took a number of the Goodlife cat food for .77 each, using the $1 coupon (10/10 rp).   Since there weren’t any of the $2.99 Air Wick candles, decided to buy two of the lavender scented ones ($4.99) and use the overage to pay for them.  Don’t forget to bring your own bags for a nickel discount on each.

Soooooo, I got the stuff in the picture and used the overage from the above coupons to bring my OOP down to $2.43.  Obviously more than I’d like to spend, but sometimes even I have to let ole George out to blink at the light.

Target grocery card

Almost forgot to post this, but make sure you go through your paper today and not just toss it into recycling (wait, you don’t actually read the thing, do you? – how 20th century!).  The shiny Target insert has a coupon attached for 2 free Green Giant frozen vegetables when you spend $25 on groceries.   so that’s, let’s see…40 cans of cream of mushroom soup and 10 boxes of Stovetop stuffing mix…. yeah, that should do it!

I just love this dog!

Target totally rocks

I knew that Target has selected Campbell’s condensed soups on sale and I printed out the coupons I posted about yesterday, so I drove on over to see what I could see – wait, aren’t those lyrics?….

These Air Wick 40 hr candles are regular price $2.99, which lines up nicely with the $3 any Air Wick candle in the 11/14 s.  Unfortunately, only have 6 inserts at this point; I usually get more as the week(s) go on – rats!  The Stovetop stuffing mixes are .79, so stacked Target and mfr coupons.

So just what did I come home with?  12 soups, 2 stuffing mixes and 6 candles for an OOP of $1.52 (all tax) which I paid with one of my numerous gc. Don’t forget to get the .05 credit for using your own bag.

free soup is good soup!

If you were thinking you’d have to actually buy the cream of mushroom soup for your green bean casserole – stop thinking!! Here’s a link to a Campell’s promotion where you print the group of four coupons (worth $5) two times (backspace).  Take these over to Target where they are saving a .50/can Campbell’s cooking soups sale.  Now we’ll see if they really have straightened out their register problems.  Seems a little fishy that their complex register problems from August were repaired within a few days of television coverage…call me a cynic…

Update:  There may be either a glitch or these coupons are reaching their print limit – either way, you may not be able to print the $1.50/3 coupons at all and possibly not the $1/3.  That’s why I prefer inserts – no print limits!

Target couponing update

Did you catch the Target update on the 5 o’clock news on Channel 2?  Briefly summarized last week’s story (hello, Rachel!) and presented the news that Target had emailed new directions for all cashiers and employees regarding coupon usage.  The section of that email that required all Target cashiers to ask each and every customer if they had coupons was apparently lost, since each and every customer exiting the store, when queried by CBS’s Dorothy Tucker, replied that they hadn’t been asked.

A breaking Trib story quotes Jill Cataldo, “coupon expert,” as having posted the Target email and policy change today, along with other unnamed sites.  I find this puzzling, since Jill was not mentioned in either the original Channel 2 broadcast nor in this follow-up today, and in point of fact, a slew of other sites (including this one) had posted the email days earlier.  Oh, well, chalk it up to disappointment that I do not yet have 40,000 believers chanting my name.

And the picture?  Obviously, one of Target’s corporate attorneys…

Target capitulates!!!

Just read this on CW.  Many, many thanks to OP…

Just sharing an urgent email I got this morning in my Target inbox.

To ensure every guest receives the full value for each coupon, we are introducing a temporary coupon redemption process effective immediately. We expect to have this systematically resolved within the next 10 days.

NEW! Temporary Coupon Redemption Process
1. Make eye contact with the guest, smile and give a sincere greeting.
2. Ask each guest at the beginning of the transaction ‘Do you have any coupons today?’
3. Set the coupons aside until the end of the transaction
4. Scan all items
5. Process coupons one by one and check to ensure full value of each coupon was applied. If needed, adjust coupon amount by selecting
a) Discounts
b) Manufacturer coupon
c) Key in the remaining coupon amount

Your immediate implementation of the above process will ensure we are providing a great guest experience.

Resources:
The following resources are attached to verify that all team members understand the new coupon redemption process.
o Coupon Redemption Process Verification Sheet – The LOD must connect with every team member that will/may cashier on their shift to review the new temporary process prior to their shift.
o Coupon Redemption Process Instruction Sheet– Print, cut and post the small instruction sheet so it is visible to the cashier at each POS register to remind cashiers of the new coupon process.
o Time Clock Alert signPost the sign immediately at all time clocks to ensure all team members check in with their LOD to learn about the new coupon redemption process.

To Do – STL/LOD
· Immediately
o Print all attachments.
o Post the Time Clock Alert sign at each time clock.
o Post the Coupon Redemption Process instruction sheet at every POS register, including Electronics, Pharmacy, Food locations, etc.
o Print a master team member roster list for your store and staple to the Coupon Redemption Process Verification Sheet to your list.
o With each team member that will/may cashier, complete the following:
· Review the new process from Coupon Redemption Process Verification Sheet.
· Place a check mark next to each team member name on the roster that they have read and understand the new process.
· Forward roster to each LOD until each person has been contacted.

Additional Details
· POS Cashier Speed-O-Meter will be turned off temporarily to accommodate for extra processing time. The Cashier Speed % metrics on DTK will also reflect green only (no metrics) as well.
· As a result of media attention, stores may see an increase in regulatory agency visits. Following any visit, the Regulatory Visit Form should be completed to recap the visit – Workbench I Shared Tools I Forms I Regulatory Visit Form and a mySupport submitted.
My Comments:  The comment about regulatory visits being increased is the kicker.  Let’s face it, Rachel isn’t that threatening either on tv or in person.  However, the phrase “media attention” leads me to believe that her picture has now been distributed to all the Target stores in the Chicagoland area…

Meijer (and others) MMs

Hadn’t posted this yet, not that I have any scruples about it (don’t bother wasting your emails), but the $5 combo coupon in the 10/31 P&G for Secret deodorant and Olay body wash (or bar) ALSO WORKS ON THE TRIAL SIZES! I already knew that the deodorant trial size worked, which gave some cheap body wash, but cheap is not the same as free, so I held off on posting.

I now read on a few sites that both the .97 deodorant and the 1.29 body wash trial sizes allow you to use the $5 coupon, so almost a $3 MM!

I honor those whose minds are so twisted that they come up with and attempt these scenarios!   I know Meijer’s carries both these products in trial sizes, but not sure about Target, Wags, CVS, WM, et alia, so if you see ’em, try.

Target Olay deal

Yes, I braved the cash registers of Target and lived to post about it…Wanted to run a few of the Olay Spend $50 get back $20.  Target has this deal where you get a $5 Target gc for every 2 Olay items you purchase.  So the obvious way to work this is to buy as many of the cheap products as you can, in pairs, to reach $50.

I ran this deal twice; the picture includes both transactions, 8 toners and 8 foaming face wash in each.  A total of $51.52  ($3.60 x 8 =28.80  and $2.84 x 8 = 22.72) spent and I got back $40 in Target gift cards for each transaction.  I was able to use $8 in Olay mfr coupons from the two latest P&G inserts at CS, however, I would not recommend using coupons because 1) Target cash registers will not accept the coupon because the registers reduce the price of the item by the value of the gift card (and how fucked up is that?!) and 2) the new P&G coupons all read that only four of a like coupon can be used in the same transaction.  The second transaction should be paid using the prior transaction’s gift cards to reduce your OOP.

When I do this deal again, I will not attempt coupons since it’s too much hassle (yes, I’m turning down money).  Unless, of course, one of the television stations wants to pay me to show how Target screws this part up, too.

So what kind of cash are we talking about?  $51.52 – $40 in Target gc = $12.52 (plus tax), and get back $20 from Olay.  I, of course, am ahead an extra $8 on each transaction, due to coupons.  And, I was paying for the first transaction with a bunch of Target gift cards from the Trib and various razor deals.  So ymmv – well, hell’s bells, it surely will!

Target possibilities

Possible only when we can clear out some space in our freezers, that is!  Totally Target has some great deals for Smart Ones:  print out a coupon for a $5 gift card (when you buy 10) and pair it with the $4/10 coupon directly underneath it.  I was able to print each coupon twice.  Exp. dates are 11/29, so plenty of time for a deal.  If one show up I’m ready; if one doesn’t, only wasted paper and ink.

More cheap formula

I really hope that those of you who need it printed out the high value formula coupon the other day…  Another good one, for $5/1 22 oz or larger can of Enfamil powder.  Either click here or go to the sidebar and click.  While Meijer has formula on sale, their online ad only has the ready-to-use cans of Enfamil for $4.99; possibly it’s on sale but not in the ad. Anyone have any formula info on Meijer or other stores, please comment.  The exp. dates on these cans are usually at least a year off and let’s face it, not likely the kid’s gonna switch to beer!
