Target trawling tonight

Since there’s really no good sales out there, I spent today at a couple of garage sales and then drove over to Target to pick up some freebies.  Exhibit A:I

I picked up 13 of the Chef Michael dog food (8/22 S Target q); 16 Meow Mix (9/26 RP); 10 single use Tide (9/26 P&G).  Total was $4.41 paid out of one of my many Target gift cards.  These things must be breeding ’cause there’s no other explanation for the quantity in my wallet.

Important note: The new P&G insert coupons state “LIMIT OF 4 LIKE COUPONS in same shopping trip.”  WTF?  This means some poor schmuck won’t be able to buy five Tide bottles during the next sale at Jewel or Dominicks?  I have some real doubts about the people running the P&G marketing campaigns…  In any case, just split up the orders, cause here I’m not looking to hit any price targets (ooh, a pun, laugh, dammit) or catalinas to spit out.  I ran three transactions, two with only Tide.  The cashier was very nice, no trouble at all about it.  But it’s still stupid.

A Tale of Two Targets (transactions)

Found out that the Sobe was, in fact, a buck a bottle, so hauled my butt over to the Supertarget in Warrenville to get rid of the last of my BOGO coupons from the Sobe game.  Stacked them with the .50 Target coupons and some “free” stuff.  Wait, is there any other kind for me?   Anyway, the Sobe picture total was $2.39, which I took out of one of my many $5 Target gift cards.

Next up…..the transaction I actually came in to see about.  I read on Totally Target that some of the Targets were clearancing their Glade Sense ‘n Sprays, so decided to grab my inserts and check it out.  Wasn’t too confident because it seems like everyone who posts is able to find these great deals – except me.  Well, after I had checked out the prior order, I remembered I hadn’t checked out the Glade aisle, so flew over there and found….tons clearanced out for $5.04.  So, I stacked the $3 mfr coupon (8/22 SS) and the $3 Target coupon (9/12 SS) for some serious overage.  Since the store coupon reduces the amount of tax, it’s not enough to just figure out the .96/each unit will bring in overage.  In this case, I ended up getting 11 of these units and used 9 coupons.  Total?  $3.86, which I paid with part of a Target gift card.  Boy, it’s hard to use these suckers up!

Bottom line is:  Get your lazy self over to your local Target.  I left a whole bunch of these on the shelf,  ’cause I hadn’t brought that many inserts.

Target

The slurp, slurp sounds you may be hearing are from tonight’s visit to Target:  it sucked donkey balls.

No problems with cashiers, no long lines, nothing.  That’s nothing as in most of what I wanted was not there.  See this picture?  Do you see anything but Tums?  Wonder how much they’re paying Target for being the only game in town.  Naturally I had the mother lode of Rolaids coupons…  The shelf price on the Sobe was $1.27, which is way too pricey for me; came up a buck at the register, so probably means  another trip to clear the shelves before the Target store coupons expire on the 18th.

Bottom line:  $1.32, which I put on one of my many gift cards.  Would I have even gone out had I known how little I was getting?  Hell, no!  But, you can’t always win, so at least I know I can use up the last of my Sobe BOGO coupons before the 9/30 exp. date without actually paying for it.  Hmmmm, I just might have enough in the beverage basement to last until next  year…

Too much clean! OOP $1.88

This is more or less just a fun shot.  I picked up 23 of the single load Tide packets and 1 more Gain dish washing liquid.   Tide was from Target, Gain from Wal Mart.  (I’d planned on getting the free Shout wipes at Wal Mart, but I couldn’t find them at my store; wouldn’t have made a trip for one bottle of soap!)   The Purex 3-in-1 from Ultra was a much better laundry deal, but these are good to take with you when/if you travel.  So, yes, I pick them up whenever I think to clip the coupons.  The $1 Tide coupons usually appear in every monthly P&G insert, with a couple of days overlap between the expiration dates.  So these coupons reflect both the August and September inserts.

Target Tango

Just got a heads up on a Target Deal.  I’ll let you read Kim’s own words:

If you’re feeling like “clubbing” at Target tonight…..Stayfree is a good deal.  They have these “bonus”, GIANT (60count) packages of them for $5.29.  We have these BOGO coupons good until tomorrow.  Buy 2 and get a $5 gift card.  We have enough feminine products now to get me, my 5th grader and my kindergartener through menopause.  Sweet!

The BOGO coupons are from the 6/27 RP (exp. 8/31) and are up to $4.49 in value.  SO…..pay $5.29 x 2 less $4.49 or $6.09.  Throw in the $5 Target gift card and you’re paying $1.09 for 120.  This is a great deal if you missed out on all the free U products at Wags or if you prefer Stayfree products.  or if you’re looking to soundproof your walls …

Taming Target Tonight – $7.25

Ooh, the alliteration!  Well,  here’s a breakdown of what I got for my $7.25:  12 cans of Chef Boyardee, 2 big bunches of Chiquita bananas, 2 demi loaves of asiago bread, 1 full size Italian bread, 8 Quattro 3 pks (both men and women’s).  It was strange, though, because the register couldn’t recognize the Target coupons, then it tried to cheat me on the produce and then decided to only subtract .98 on one of the mfr coupons and then 0.00 on the rest!  Boy, I had to watch that thing like a hawk.  Cashier was very, very nice (actually, her supervisor came over to help and she was great, too).  Ended up going through the whole transaction and then when I tried to pay with a Target gift card from my vast collection, the damned thing crashed!  They grabbed the bags and raced over to another register to start over.  Very apologetic, but honestly, it wasn’t their fault, so I wasn’t going to bitch about it.  Computers certainly make my life easier though…

So my actual cost was $7.25, which I paid for with a gift card from a prior razor purchase and received $20 more in gift cards.   I’m a happy Target customer!

Target razor MM

Kim just reported on this great deal at Target:

I know  this is last minute but the deal is good through tomorrow (8/28)….Target has a great deal on women’s Schick Quattro 3-pack of disposable razors. (The purple ones ONLY.)  They are on sale for $5.49….I had many $3 MQ [7/25 S] and also $2 Target Q’s[8/22 SS] on any Schick Quattro razors….they were both from Sunday inserts but can’t tell you which ones…not THAT organized!).  Any-hoo….through tomorrow, if you buy 2, you get a $5 gift card.  Pay $.98 and get $5.  Soooo, I bought 6 packs…(18 razors), paid $3 and got $15 back!  Very fun!  Came home to find I have more Q’s…Ugh!  I feel compelled to go back tomorrow…..can never be too smooth, right?

Thanks, Kim.  I’ll probably head over there tomorrow evening.  It’s not like I have a real social life, after all.  I still have a bunch of those gift cards from one of the other razor deals (maybe Hydro?), so eventually I’ll be putting out cash.  Well, maybe not…

Sobe giveaway

I’ve won a few of the free Sobes from their game.  Honestly, though, given the recent spate of BOGO deals, I would rather get the BOGO printable than wait for snail mail.

See this coupon that came in today’s mail?  It’s the first one I won, approximately 6 weeks ago.  AND, it has an expiration date of 9/30/2010.  Which means any bottles won in the last week or so will only be redeemable at Dominicks.  Maybe I should apply for a job at their fulfillment house?

Tarzhée

The Target warehouse called:  They want their stuff back!  Almost robbery, but extreme couponing is living life in the fast lane.  Which is why I spend my Saturday nights shopping at Target.   Got me a few Cesar dog treats, would have gotten more but they didn’t have ’em, a few more cans of Chef Boyardee (with whole grain goodness!!), some of those wonderful demi-loaves of french bread (which we pop into the toaster oven – which, when I say we, I mean ME), a couple of bunches of overpriced cilantro (wait, how can it be overpriced when I didn’t pay for it?) and a bag of El Milagro Blancas tortillas.  How much did it cost?  Well, I didn’t pay attention to the original total, but the first time I glanced up it was at $99+.  hahahahahaha.  Kept handing out coupons until I ended up at $6.19, which I paid with one of the gift cards I got for the “free” Schick razors that I also mailed in for the rebates.  How do you calculate so much negative money spent?  By the way, of the $6.19 paid out, $5.26 was damned taxes.

Another round of shopping

Call me a masochist, but I was determined to get a sufficient supply of these treats just to prove it could be done.  I only had clipped out about 15 of the mfr coupons, so that’s it until the week-end.  The Sobe at this Target (Woodridge) was still selling for $1 each, which makes it a much better deal, tax wise, than the CVS BOGO currently running through Saturday.  So my OOP on this run?  $.95.  Shall we repeat my mantra?  Damned taxes!
Next over to Ultra in Downers Grove to see if they had the Purex 3 in 1 – NO.  Same sad, empty shelves.  Same walk to customer service.  Same 2 rolls of tp, a bunch of green bananas and 3 boxes of Kitten Chow.  Oh, well, Chiquita bananas are always good.  I think they’re better than the Dole.  Total OOP here:  $1.16.  repeat mantra…

Decided to hit the CVS that was unloading the truck yesterday, since it was on the way home.  Either they have the slowest workers in history, got shorted on their order or experienced the biggest run on Sobe in CVS history!  Was only able to grab 12 Sobe and then found the Emerald brand nuts.  There is a $1/1 coupon for any Emerald nut products in 8/15 RP.  They’re hoping you will use them for the glazed nuts BOGO sale, which is still a good price, but the puny containers are 4.5 oz of either honey roasted or dry roasted peanuts and at 10/$10, they’re free.    OOP here was $1.09.
