Jewel this week – PF Chang for under 2 bucks – Update

I’m gonna post as I see things and right now I’m not majorly impressed.  Don’t like these piddly little .50 off sales when you buy 10 items.  Makes no sense that the discount is the same on a .99 item as on a 4.99 one – but hey, I’m not a marketing genius…although I don’t think grocery chains are hiring the Einsteins of the marketing world, either  –  but I digress…

Check your Avenue card(s) to see just what’s lurking.  The past months have been horrible, mostly Shoppers Value 5 lb tubs of potato or pasta salad – so not what I want.  My cards now show one promising item, the PF Chang Home Menu Meals, with a $2.50 discount (limit 6) through midnight of November 16, so I plan to stack the $2/1 coupon (9/12 rp) and the buy 10 get .50 off.  If I get all 6 I can add four of the other sale items, look for applicable coupons and then pay the whole thing off with the RRs from the Sinex deal, which starts up again on the 14th!  shhhhhh, don’t tell anyone we’re eating free Chinese for the next few weeks! Cost per package:  $6.99 – .50 – 2.50 – 2 = 1.99 each.

Update the 2nd: The mixers have been pulled from three of my cards, only one of which was used today to purchase the mixers, but the CF Changs remain on all three.  Remember, we’re the dark side, so here’s what you do…Go to the Avenue site and register your Dominicks card(s).   The mixer deals will reappear on each, limit 8 but no PF Changs.  Use the card at SCOT. hehehehehehehe. As posted on CW, the Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers are on sale for $2.50 and on most Avenues for $2/1.  Stack them with the mfr q in 10/24 s and we’re talking either free or a .50 MM.  I know this is a love/hate product for many of you, but my PITA likes these, they’re easy and quick enough for her to make without whining and, did I mention…they’re free!

Jewel quickie $.65

Ran into Jewel to pick up the last of this week’s freebies:  Fuze and Mentos.  Since I was using the Fuze $1/2 coupon and Mentos $1 paired with the BOGO tearpad coupon, I was stuck paying only the high tax.

Apologies in advance to anyone named Jewel…

Football games and Sunday’s always bring me down…

Well, they were singing something like that anyway…

Sunday is the day I get my inserts delivered, track down more inserts and hit the Wags.  Well, today I also stopped at Jewel to grab a few more free Fuze and a bunch more Mentos ’cause I found a tearpad of BOGO coupons, which paired nicely with the $1 coupons in the 10/3 S.  Today I picked up four of the Neuragen, filled out the rebates and stuck ’em in the mailbox.  Finally filled out the two Olay rebates from the Target stuff last week and stuck those in the mailbox.  Phew!  Such a lot of work…it’s hard to maintain this pace.

That Neuragen is a teeny, tiny little box with a regular price of, ready for this one —–$31.98!  Seriously, this must be like crack for your feet!  If you can find a bunch of addicts, sell ’em for a ten-spot each and get that much closer to paying off the mortgage…

Tomorrow becomes today…

Whew!  Talk about whirlwind shopping.  First I hit Jewel for 16 of the Fuze drinks; this is high tax peeps, so plan on spending at least a few pennies.  Nobody needs to see a picture of 16 bottles!

Then off to Meijer, where even a peripatetic Meijer shopper like me knows to stop at the cs desk first to see what’s out of stock.  First day of a sale and they’re already out of the Smart Balance milk (got rain check for 6 – the limit) and the free w/ purchase Mrs. Ts spinach and feta Pierogies (got a rain check for 2 free).  I was able to get 8 of the Maxwell House coffees for .27 each, after the $1 cat.  Note that, like the previous sale, not all coffees are the same price.  The breakfast blend is the only one for $1.79, so get 2, use two coupons and a $1 MFR cat spits out, which I then used on the next transaction.  Obviously I ran this in multiple transactions, to get the $1 coffee cat each time, which leads into my next comment – I’m missing some receipts!  Guessing on the total for Meijers…$7.50?  Bananas are heavy, so maybe a quarter more.

Off to DG next.  Took 54 cans of Libby’s vegetables (mostly kernel corn), 2 Gain (all they had) and 5 Franks hot sauce for a total of $ 7.36.  PITA is busily clipping more  Libby coupons even as we speak; I’m going back with another 55 coupons (165 cans) for $19.25 plus low tax, so less than twenty bucks.  Note: DG’s registers won’t take off the entire $1/3, probably the same glitch as the Target ones.  However, DG is not out to cheat you and will break up the coupon value into .40/.40/.20 for each one.  Yes, a royal pain in the ass for both parties, but what else can you do?

Finally, an oddity:  you’ll be relieved to learn that this was not found in the grocery section…

Tomorrow’s deals – Update

The $1/1 Mrs. T’s Pierogi’s coupon has reset. Go to the right side bar for the coupons.com button.   I seem to gravitate to the 90210 zip (although other CA ones also work), so that’s what I used.  Print out as many as you can as quickly as you can because these’ll be gone FAST.  Mrs. T’s are 3/$5 and get the spinach one free.

A fast post and then off to the tub. Can’t afford that Groupon massage deal, so I’ll just have to rub myself the wrong way…sorry

Tomorrow I’m off to Meijers, DG and Jewel, quick jaunts all, for the following:  DG has the Libby’s canned vegetables at .45/each (limited varieties, but not bad) which you combine with the $1/3 from 8/29 rp, so what’re we talking here:  .35/3?  and the best part is you don’t have to play freezer tetris!  Oh, and the 10/3 s has coupons for MORE free Franks hot sauce.  Will someone please stop me?  While I like free more than the next guy (unless the next guy is appearing on Hoarders), the deal at Ultra way back when was better ’cause they had the reg and extra hot available – DG does not carry the extra hot.

Next is Jewel for more beverages (I know, I know, but since it doesn’t have to be refrigerated or fancy-storage needed, why not pick up some of the BOGO Fuze?  The 10/24 S has $1/2, so 2 free for each coupon.  Since I only have 8 coupons so far, it’ll be a fly over Jewel visit.

Meijer’s is going to give me MM milk and cheap coffee – I think I can safely pass on any spreads for the next year or two (well, unless it’s a MM).  I need to check out some other deals there before I post, just to be certain that what they say and what really is meet in my reality.

Still have to check out CVS to see if the Oral B toothbrushes came in.  Eventually all the stores should have sufficient supply to cover all the rain checks and expired P&G coupons.

Back from Jewel et alia

Went to Jewel to get my money back on coupons for the Papa Charlie’s beef deal.  I had purchased four total, using two BOGO and two $5/1.  Note that the coupons expired 10/31, but Jewel policy allows you to use expired coupons if you had purchased the item(s) previous to the coupon’s expiration.  In other words, if you had purchased the beef up to and including Sunday, you would have been allowed to return to Jewel with your receipt at any time up to and including 60 days after purchase.  Obviously I’m too cheap to wait that long!

While there, I noticed the Hunt tomatoes on the clearance cart:  .25 each.  There is a .45/3 coupon in the 10/3 S, which I will clip and bring to Jewel with receipt on my next visit.  Wish they had had 6 of these suckers.  Last year’s Con Agra had these dirt cheap – I must have bought 75 and am now down to about 8.  Check your local Jewel stores because they clearance the same items, but follow different timetables.

More free money from Wags

Picked up another 16 of the Dayquils using the $4/1 coupons from the October P&G insert.  Spend $17.44 OOP and got back $40 in RRs.  But you say, why would you buy so many?  Not for what I need, but for what I can buy with it.

My Jewel trip, which consisted of four Papa Charlie’s, two Gonnella rolls packages and one large jar of hot gardiniera.  Total OOP (after coupons and the RRs) was $1.87.  Got 6 more pot stamps.

Jewel $2.20

Greetings from the third level of hell – that level where the all-you-can-eat buffet consists of nutritionally-vacant food groups!  In this case I got 8 fridge packs of Coke products, 2 3-pks of Pringles (which include multi-grain Pringles [your healthy choice, hahahahahaha]) and a 2L Diet Coke.  PITA saw the 2L and said “Oh, good!” like all the other stuff didn’t exist.  Well, I guess when it comes to actually bringing in the groceries, it doesn’t…

Used a bunch of expiring wts to bring the total down to, basically, high tax.  Jewel was happy to see me; had to reassure them that I hadn’t switched my loyalties, it’s just no deals this week!

Dinner for 4 plus lunches….$2.50?

As part of my continuing effort to clear out my freezer…presenting steak fajitas – ¡olé!

Four round steaks from Jewel, sliced thin, one TGIF steak fajitas package meal (clears out freezer space), one onion and the leftover GG corn.  Simmered with added water.  Rice in the cooker and tada!

Obviously the big splurge was the TGIF (although I can’t remember the exact cost…but it was cheap…)

More cheap formula

I really hope that those of you who need it printed out the high value formula coupon the other day…  Another good one, for $5/1 22 oz or larger can of Enfamil powder.  Either click here or go to the sidebar and click.  While Meijer has formula on sale, their online ad only has the ready-to-use cans of Enfamil for $4.99; possibly it’s on sale but not in the ad. Anyone have any formula info on Meijer or other stores, please comment.  The exp. dates on these cans are usually at least a year off and let’s face it, not likely the kid’s gonna switch to beer!
