Free Lumene

Okay, now that I got Mariposa’s attention (go change your britches, girl), I’ll continue.  As you know, last Sunday’s SS had a $4/1 coupon for Lumene products, sold at both CVS and Walgreens.  The CVS deal worked out best when you bought the five .5 jars of cream because you paid tax and earned $5 in ecbs.  After that, though, it’s just free.  Still a fantastic deal on a relatively expensive skin care product (for drugstores). Only problem is that CVS never has sufficient stock and they only carry the two types and Wags only sells the .5 jars online…so naturally I placed a call to Wheaton…

And found out that Lumene makes all four of their product lines available in the .5 jars.  So Terry/Steve have calls in to the company’s sales rep to see what kind of quantity they can get delivered (Lumene warehouse is well-stocked).  If you have any interest at all in this great deal, please give them a call and let them know as an informal basis for how many they should order.  I checked and CouponDede has these at .40 each with no limits. So, buy 12 coupons for $4.80 and postage and get 6 ounces of product.  Since the usual jar is 1.7 oz and retails for about $20…you can see the savings…

Gift basket ideas… do u c what i c?

Had a big laugh with Steve about the Extenze Male Enhancement Formula FARR deal starting 7/3 – $4.99 get back $5 RR.  This is a 2 oz liquid of herbs, etc. which makes your schlong run all night long or your pecker run the Preakness, so to speak…

So here’s my idea:  make up gift baskets with the KY products and Extenze bottles!

My original thought was that Wags is screwing us over on the Crackerfuls – now they’re gonna be able to do it for a much longer time.

Crackerfuls Update

I’ve been trying to rework this deal for some time with Steve; I wish I had better news.  We were trying for a Manager’s Special over the 4th of July week-end, since both mfr and store coupons would still be valid.  Putting the deal at $1.50 would not give us money back, but would give us the free crackers.  While I like MMs better than most people, free Crackerfuls would still be a beautiful thing.

The only things holding Steve back were questions about: 1) his scanback rate from Nabisco and 2) whether or not the Wags warehouse had any stock.

Well, the Nabisco rate would work beautifully if Nabisco had ever sent any product to the warehouse. As it stands, every friggin’ grocery store in a five-state region has lots of Crackerfuls to sell but none was shipped to Walgreens.  Probably CVS even got product, a bigger slap in the kisser I couldn’t imagine.  Angry?  Hell, yeah, I’m angry and you should all be, too.  Nabisco enters into a deal with Walgreens for a special promotion, yet reneges when it comes time to actually ship the product.  My gut feeling is that Nabisco did not work out the money aspect before agreeing to the Register Rewards program with a high value mfr coupon out there.  This way they’re paying double.  too bad.  so sad.  i’m mad.

PetSmart, Wags-Wheaton, Dominicks

Decided to see if I could find any more of the free cleaners from PetSmart, but was only able to score 5 of the Toy Cleaner types at the DG store – none in Wheaton.  Note:  This sale not only ends on Sunday, June 19, these cleaners are all being discontinued and you will not get a rain check.  Well, frankly, even if you did get a rain check, what good would it do you on a discontinued item, right?

Next I hit up Wags for 47 of the Air Wick sprays (for a friend – my house doesn’t stink that much).  Now that was a long time at the register.  I picked up another 72 of the Seattle’s Best coffee while I was there and the remaining three cases of Coke Zero they were holding for me.  Had a very nice long conversation with Ron, a reader of this site and a huge Wags fan and buyer with a capital B.  Hello, Ron!

Then off to the Dominicks at the far side of hell, otherwise known as Danada.  I only went in for 16 boxes of the Mama Lucia meatballs, but there was a lot of the clearance dairy, so in the cart it went.  I will say without reservation that Dominicks has the best selection of discounted dairy – way better than Jewel, well, ’cause Jewel doesn’t discount their dairy!  So 50% off 3 cottage cheese, 2 half & half and 1 quart Lucerne coffee creamer plus two packages of the new Kraft big slices on sale with $1/1 coupons on tearpads.  Total was $22, since I was using 8 of the $1/2 coupons generously donated by a reader.

So that’s my stash, all buried in the back of my new (to me, anyway) Subaru.  Steve jokingly asked me if I bought it using Register Rewards.  Of course not!  but i did put it on my Discover card to get lots of rewards…

Wags – Wheaton & Montgomery

Montgomery just checked in to say that they’ve got a ton of the Air Wicks, so come on in.  I personally will be picking up about 40 or so.  I like these for free, but I have to be realistic here.

Steve just called to say that they are getting in (today) two cases of the Wal-Fex 5 ct. Allergy Relief packages (free after RR), Seattle’s Best coffee and the Air Wick (.99 after coupon and RR), so if you want/need any, give him a call.  For “normal” size orders, no need to call, just show up.  But then, who among my readers would be considered normal?

Help?!

Does anyone know of any coupon-friendly Walgreens near the Wisconsin border?  Jaime lives in Lake Villa and has had trouble getting her stores to understand BOGO deals.  She has a rain check for the Clean & Clear body washes, but no Wags’ staff with enough brains to allow her to use it.

Diapers at Wags – $2.99!

Glancing through this week’s ad, I noticed that the Walgreens Premium diaper jumbo packs are on sale for $4.99.  Use the $2 code in the Wags Infant Care booklet (Code is 2844) and you’re left paying $2.99 for a pack of diapers that are comparable (I’ve read) to Huggies.

Wags and Jewel – both Lisle

Wanted to pick up a few of the Air Wicks ’cause these things are so powerful it makes visiting the basement a pleasure trip!  Hello, fields of lavender and chamomile…

I first ran 72 of the Seattle’s Best coffees in one run, just to get them out of the way.  Then I broke down the Air Wicks and milk into ten transactions, just to use up my $10 and $5 RRs:  got back $3 RR on each.

Jewel has that OM deal I posted about, so ran two transactions because, even though they stack (each 5 takes off $5), the catalina only goes up to $4, no higher.  If they ain’t gonna pay me I ain’t gonna take it!  So my total for Jewel (also had 6 packages of pub burgers, Doritos and two dozen tortillas) was $25.98.  Used up a buttload of those stupid .99 Sobe RRs, ’cause the fat wad looked like it belonged to a drunken sailor.  Paid out $1.23 and got back two $4 cats.  Don’t forget to use as many of these meat wts as you can before 6/23.  I also had a $5/50 SOMEWHERE that I couldn’t find.  I’ll use it in another day or two when I pick up more OM and pub burgers.

Wags RR wording change

I’ve been reading and hearing lots of gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair over additional wording showing up on the latest Register Rewards:  Redeemable Only At Walgreens.  At first glance I admit that I lost it, too.  First we lose the price spread on catalina promotions, then wine tags…now RRs couldn’t be used at Jewel!  Pay retail!  Not on this Goddess’ watch.

I believe that this is purely a sneaky marketing tool.  How many of you were unaware that you could use these little bits of paper as cash at Jewel due to the marvelous “manufacturer coupon” wording on the top?  Everyone, right?  Most people are unaware of this, so they’re trying to fool the newbies who’ve started watching Extreme Couponing and want to get all their groceries for free!  They’ve heard and read that they can use Register Rewards at Jewel (and previously at Dominicks).  Newbies just don’t bother reading official coupon policies.  In fact, Jewel’s corporate policy states (in part):

The following coupon types are accepted by Jewel-Osco:

1. Any coupons that do not scan or do not have barcodes should be checked for validity of expiration date and purchase requirements MANUFACTURER COUPONS:
Manufacturer Coupons are coupons issued by the manufacturer containing:
“Terms of agreement” (legal paragraph ‘To The Retailer’)
Face value
Expiration date
Verbiage “Manufacturer Coupon.”
Have a barcode. We do not accept expired Manufacturer Coupons or coupons that have had the expiration date cut off. If in doubt, call your manager.

NOTE: Jewel-Osco and other retailers issue coupons such as printed ad media coupons that are manufacturer coupons and contain the words “redeemable only at their retailer (e.g. Dominick’s, Walgreens) this type of coupon is redeemable at Jewel-Osco as long as the coupons states “Manufacturer Coupon”.

So there you have it, folks.  According to Jewel, these new RRs are exactly the same as the old ones:  they won’t beep or cause any problems whatsoever – I’ve used them this past week.  I would recommend that you print out this policy and take it with you if you are shopping at an unfriendly to couponers store…although why you’d want to give them your money in the first place doesn’t make sense to me…

Wags – Wheaton

Did a little bit of trading at Wags…only picked up 144 of the Seattle’s Best because they were sharing with the Lisle store and I didn’t see any reason to wipe them out.  Just like men, another delivery will be along in a couple of days.  Besides, I needed trunk space for all the 2L bottles of Mountain Dew and Diet Pepsi.  Again, on the pop I ran two bottles with the $1/2 coupons, not that it changes the amount paid, but I was using the Icy Hot RRs to pay originally, then switched to 4 bottles and a $2 RR, then, finally, switched to US currency:  stopped at 40 bottles total.  The goal was to reduce my OOP, not necessarily replace all my G. Washingtons with RRs.

Then I ran quickly to Staples where, since they were out of the Bounty 6-pks,  I picked up a box of #10 envelopes for two bucks after the $3 Staples coupon.  Well, I actually needed these and kept forgetting to buy them, so it’s all to the good.
