PARIS — An airline passenger says her Paris-to-Dublin flight was delayed nearly two hours after celebrated French actor Gerard Depardieu urinated on the plane ahead of takeoff.France’s Europe-1 radio aired an interview with the passenger, identified only by her first name Daniele, saying that Depardieu appeared inebriated and announced “’I need to piss, I need to piss.” The passenger said when the cabin crew told him to remain seated during takeoff, “he stood up and did it (urinated) on the ground.
A spokeswoman for City Jet, the Dublin-headquartered airline that operated the Tuesday evening flight, confirmed that such an incident had taken place. But spokeswoman Karen Gillo said Wednesday privacy issues prevented her from naming the passenger, who was escorted off the plane along with his two traveling companions and their luggage.Calls for comment from Depardieu’s agent went unanswered Wednesday. One of France’s most famous actors, Depardieu, 62, has appeared in more than 150 films, including 1986’s “Jean de Florette” and 1990’s “Cyrano de Bergerac,” for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.

The actor is also a Paris restaurateur and the owner of a vineyard in Burgundy.

The US skiing team has dismissed an 18-year-old member of its development squad, after he was accused of getting drunk and then urinating on a fellow passenger aboard a JetBlue flight to New York City.

Robert “Sandy” Vietze was detained by police at New York’s Kennedy airport on Wednesday morning, after arriving on a red-eye flight from Portland, Oregon. He faces a federal misdemeanour charge of indecent exposure, according to the US attorney’s office in Brooklyn.

The US Ski and Snowboard Association executive vice-president of athletics, Luke Bodensteiner, said in a statement that Vietze had been dismissed from the team for conduct violations. “Based on the information we have, Sandy Vietze is in violation of the USSA code of conduct and team agreement, and has been dismissed from the team,” confirmed Bodensteiner.

Vietze was nominated to the development team this spring after excelling as an alipine skier at the Green Mountain Valley school, a top ski academy and high school in Waitsfield, Vermont, where tuition costs as much as $42,384 a year. He had been scheduled to compete on the national ski team’s developmental squad for the 2011-12 season.

A Port Authority police department detective wrote in court documents that Vietze told him he had consumed five or six beers and two rum and cola cocktails before boarding the flight. He said he passed out in his seat and awoke to find himself being yelled at by the father of a 12-year-old girl. The girl’s father told the detective that when he returned from a trip to the bathroom at 2.30 am, he found Vietze urinating on his daughter. The man described Vietze as “out of it”.

The Port Authority initially told news outlets on Thursday that federal prosecutors had decided to drop the indecent exposure charge, but a spokesman for the US attorney’s office, Robert Nardoza, said on Friday that the case is still pending. The charge carries a maximum fine of $1,000 and a possibility of up to a year in jail, although time behind bars would be very unusual in such a case.

A Jetstar passenger who urinated in a plane aisle during a flight, spraying other passengers, has been let off with a warning.

The man was flying from Auckland to Singapore on Monday when he answered the call of nature about six hours into the 11-hour trip.  A passenger said the man urinated on to another man’s leg and the scarf of a female passenger.

“I hear this sound of running water and then I hear a guy going ‘No, no, no, what the hell is wrong with you?’ And there’s this guy pissing in the aisle, waving back and forth,” Amos Chapple told the New Zealand Herald.

Jetstar confirmed that the crew had to “counsel and manage” a inebriated passenger who “engaged in inappropriate and disruptive behaviour. We can confirm on this occasion, our crew followed all standard procedures including confiscating alcohol brought on board and issuing an onboard warning in conjunction with advice from the captain,” the airline said in a statement.  Police were not called as the passenger was no longer disruptive after being warned, the airline said.

“As per our standard procedures, an internal report has been filed and we are following standard internal process including reviewing the customer’s future suitability for travel.”  Mr Chapple said he had confronted the man in Singapore but he appeared to have no idea what he had done during the flight.

Jetstar said it was in the process of contacting the customers impacted by the inappropriate behaviour to offer compensation.

Wags and the non-Motrin PM deal

Just got off the phone with Steve.  Apparently corporate pulled the entire campaign (which explains why it didn’t show up in the ad or with Catalina).  Wheaton ordered well over 500 of these from the warehouse months ago, to avoid a non-delivery problem like the last time.  Lisle has been frantically ordering them every week but to date nothing has shown up, which leads us to believe that there is, once again, a problem getting product from the manufacturer.  If the warehouse has been out of inventory for the past month or two, Wags was just trying to prevent another Crackerfuls SNAFU.

Bottom line, though, is that anyone who ordered coupons (include me in this group) is screwed.  And no, I’m not happy… Lumene appears to be on track (and in transit) for delivery this week.

Amazon – not for the faint of heart…

And more Amazon stuff that The Goddess did not know actually existed (sent to me by one of you sick fucks – and i thank you).

Go Girl Female Urination Device is a simple, sanitary device made from germ-resistant medical-grade silicone that allows women the benefit of going to the bathroom standing up. The easy-to-use device is reusable or disposable and the small storage tube fits easily into a purse or backbpack. Go Girl is for active, traveling and germ-conscious women who don’t have access to a sit-down toilet or who don’t want to use unfit facilities.

FYI, there are lots more of these on Amazon, but in keeping with the discount theme, this is the cheapest.  Order your holiday presents early.  And whatever happened to “squat and pee?”

Investigators Probe Possible Link in Mansion Deaths

CORONADO, Calif. (KTLA) — Authorities continue to investigate a possible link between the deaths of a multi-millionaire’s girlfriend and 6-year-old son at Spreckels Mansion in Coronado.

Police were called to the seaside home of of Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp founder and CEO Jonah Shacknai around 10 a.m. July 11 after his 6-year-old son, Max, was critically injured from what police said was reported as a fall from a staircase in the home, Coronado Police Chief Louis Scanlon said.

The boy later died of his injuries.

The family released the following statement Sunday night:

“With great sadness, Dina and I convey the tragic passing of our beloved son, Max (affectionately known as Maxie). Despite heroic efforts on the part of paramedics and hospital staff, he was unable to recover from the injuries suffered early last week. His loving, kind and vibrant spirit will forever be in our hearts and those whom he touched every day. The loss to our families, Max’s many friends of all ages and teammates, and the community is immeasurable.”

Max’s death is the second in less than a week at the mansion. Two days after Max’s injury, the body of his father’s 32-year-old girlfriend, Rebecca Nalepa, was found bound, nude and hanging from a second-story balcony overlooking the courtyard. Shacknai’s brother, Adam, a resident of a guest house on the property, found Nalepa, according to Captain Tim Curran of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department homicide squad.

Adam Shacknai alerted authorities by calling emergency 911 and cut down the unclothed body, which then fell into the courtyard, Curran said at a news conference Thursday.

Shacknai was not present in either case when authorities responded to the residence. When Shacknai’s son fell, authorities say they found only the injured boy and Nalepa at the home.

Both brothers and Jonah Shacknai’s ex-wife, Dina Shacknai, the mother of his 6-year-old son, were being questioned as witnesses in the investigation and were cooperating with detectives, Curran said.

Investigators say Nalepa and an unidentified 13-year-old were the only people home when Max was injured.

Authorities declined to discuss Jonah Shacknai’s current whereabouts.

The Arizona Republic newspaper cited his former mother-in-law, Nancy Romano, as saying Jonah and Dina Shacknai had been with their son since he was hospitalized.

Curran said no one has been detained or was considered a suspect in the case, which investigators have not so far labeled as the result of foul play even though Nalepa was found with her hands tied behind her back and her feet also bound.

Curran said investigators have not ruled out suicide.

“Because of the unique and bizarre circumstances, it has yet to be determined whether this is a homicide or a suspicious death,” Curran told reporters. “This is a very bizarre death. There is no doubt about it.”

KSWB-TV is reporting that Nalepa was distraught and crying when she turned her dog over to a kennel hours before she was found dead. Her autopsy results have been sealed and toxicology results were pending. A determination on her cause of death could be made later this week.

A homicide detective tells the station that the deaths may be connected, but declined to elaborate.

Court records show Jonah and Dina Shacknai, his second wife, had their divorce finalized in January of this year, though Romano told the Arizona Republic that her former son-in-law and Nalepa had been together for about two years.

Nalepa, who was herself divorced in February, had her maiden surname of Zahau legally restored in May, according to court records in Arizona.

Medicis issued a brief statement on the incident without giving details.

“The Medicis family is deeply saddened to learn of a tragic incident at a California property owned by Jonah Shacknai,” the company said. “Our thoughts are with Jonah and his family and ask that the family’s privacy be respected during this difficult period.”

Land records show that Shacknai, 54, whose Scottsdale, Arizona-based company is maker of the acne treatment Solodyn and wrinkle-filler Restylane, purchased the 27-room landmark property known as the Spreckels Mansion in October 2010.

Shares of the company, which reported 2010 revenues of $700 million, tumbled by as much as 5 percent following news of the investigation.

Dude, when you find a nude body hanging from a balcony with feet and hands bound – you can pretty much rule out suicide… don’t women choose sleeping pills to bite the big one?

And there is no way I could ever make this stuff up…

She made the headlines last year when she confessed to teaching her then six-year-old daughter Poppy to pole dance. And now Sarah Burge is back in the spotlight again – for all the wrong reasons.

The 50-year-old mother – a self-confessed plastic surgery addict known as The Human Barbie – has boasted that she gave a £6,000 breast enlargement voucher to her daughter for her seventh birthday.

Miss Burge, who has spent more than £500,000 on her own surgical enhancements and wants to make her daughter into a glamour model, said Poppy ‘squealed with delight’ when she was given the voucher.

She said: ‘Poppy begged me for a boob job, so I gave her the voucher so she can have it after she’s 16, when it’s legal.

‘If she develops naturally big boobs, she can have something else done with it.’

The voucher was part of a £12,000 ‘exotic pamper party’ that Miss Burge organised to mark her daughter’s birthday.

Excited: Poppy ‘squealed with delight’ when she was given the voucher, according to her mother

Poppy and seven friends had manicures, pedicures and makeovers. They dressed up with fake tattoos, drank pretend champagne in the back of a pink pamper bus and ate a designer cake costing £250.

Poppy wore a £300 dress for the party, adding nail varnish, eyeshadow and hair extensions.

Miss Burge told Closer magazine: ‘Poppy isn’t interested in bouncy castles or pass the parcel, so I splashed out on something a little more grown-up.

‘The girls got lots of attention from our neighbours.

‘They love having all eyes on them and were posing and pouting for photos,’ she said.

As well as the breast enlargement voucher, Miss Burge bought her daughter thousands of pounds worth of gifts, including a £250 computer, a £450 pink Swarovski crystal ring and necklace set and the promise of a £4,000 spa break.

The main event though, was the breast enlargement voucher.

Poppy says: ‘I wanted a new computer, a holiday and a voucher for surgery. When I got it all, it was a dream come true. All my friends were jealous.

‘I can’t wait to be like Mummy with big boobs. They’re pretty.’

Splurge: The voucher formed part of a £12,000 'exotic pamper party' laid on by Burge to celebrate daughter Poppy's birthday

Exotic: The voucher formed part of a £12,000 ‘pamper party’ laid on by Miss Burge to celebrate Poppy’s birthday

Miss Burge, who lives in a £500,000 four-bedroom home in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, is more than capable of paying for the lavish celebration thanks to the lucrative business she runs organising plastic surgery and swinging parties and writing erotic novels.

Admitting that her daughters Charlotte, 25, Hannah, 17 and step-daughter Jazzy, 17, have already had Botox and are planning further surgery of their own, Miss Burge reveals a worryingly blasé attitude towards surgery.

Set to celebrate her 51st birthday later this year with £51,000 of surgery including a facelift, bottom implants and liposuction, she plans to allow her youngest daughter to watch the procedures on video.

She said: ‘I want Poppy to see what will happen.

‘Some people think it’s controversial and I get angry when strangers say I’m a bad mother because I don’t think there’s any harm in giving her this gift.

‘Poppy is a normal kid who is good at sports and loves playing outside. Girls don’t want Snow White and Cinderella any more.

‘They want to be WAGs and famous like Cheryl Cole and Lady Gaga. I’m just supporting her and making her dreams come true.’

Wags and Cottonelle – UPDATE

OK, here’s the scoop on why the Cottonelle cats aren’t printing (for the most part) at Walgreens.  The UPC that works is 0 36000 13396 7.  This package was discontinued at Walgreens a very long time ago (at least a year).  We are talking about some seriously old stuff here, folks (and I’d definitely be checking dates on the meds).  That old package had rolls containing 167 sheets, while the new large ones only contain 148 sheets.  hmmmmm.  So if you’re looking to score this great deal AND SINCE IT’S A NATIONAL CATALINA, check out your Jewel and Dominicks, etc. using this UPC and see what turns up.

I didn’t post this earlier, because, frankly, I HAVE TONS OF TP AND FIGURED YOU DID, TOO!  That said, perhaps you didn’t pick up the 4 bazillion I did and are interested in the following national catalina promotion which was scheduled to start today.  Walgreens has the 12 pk of the large roll Cottenelles on sale for $5.

Buy two for $10.00.
Use two $.50/1 printables = $9.00. The print limit has already been reached, but if you have some you printed out earlier…
Get back $3.50 for an OOP of $5.50/2, or $2.75 a 12 pack.  without the coupons you’re at $3.75 each 12 pack

-or-

Buy three for $15.00.
Use three $.50/1 printables = $13.50.
Get back $4.50, for an OOP of $9.00/3, or $3.00 per 12 pack.  without the coupons you’re at $3.83.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a severe glitch in the system, because some Walgreens are generating the cat and most others are not.  I am waiting for a list of working UPCs which I will have Wheaton run through their computer system.  Until then?  Hold off for another day.  If your store is sold out, get a rain check (which would be the best way to handle this).

Chicago’s storm last night

Well, we were lucky out here ’cause there was very little rain/wind, etc.  Pictures from the Trib show other areas got nailed.  Here are some pictures.

Extreme Couponer? pah!

By LYNEKA LITTLE
June 30,2011

Extreme couponer April Cuevas says an altercation with a Walmart employee regarding coupon policies led to her temporary banishment from the company’s more than 4,000 stores.

The penny-pincher claims that during a trip to a Nampa, Idaho, location a disagreement about competitor coupons — which Walmart honors under certain conditions as part of its Ad Match policy — led to an argument with a store manager at the Franklin Avenue Supercenter.

“I was going to Walmart like I usually do, and I only had a few coupons in my purse that I was going to use because I was only going for cheese, milk and candy bars,” the mother of five told ABCNews.

At the check-out counter, “I was trying to use a Target coupon and the checkout lady said, ‘No, you can’t use this.'” Cuevas, a daily Wal-Mart shopper, asked to speak to a manager because “it doesn’t say anywhere in the store [Walmart doesn’t] accept competitor coupons.”

“We are aware there was an incident that occurred at a store based on a coupon we should have accepted,” Lorenzo Lopez, a spokeperson for Walmart, told ABCNews. “We certainly understand her frustration. After gathering all information, we think both sides could have handled it differently. We have apologized to Ms. Cuevas and we have invited her back to the store. She has returned to the store since the incident.”

During her quarrel with management, a separate incident took place at an aisle near Cuevas, and she began filming it with her iPhone.

“I saw four big men running toward me and I grabbed my iPhone and start recording because I thought they were headed towards me,” said Cuevas. But the employees were headed to another aisle and she kept recording.

According to a source familiar with the even there were two isolated incidents at the store.

Cuevas told ABCNews.com that when a separate manager approached, he attempted to slap the iPhone out of her hand. “He told me I either pay for my stuff and leave, or leave my stuff and leave, and that I can’t videotape in the store,” said Cuevas.

After paying for her items and exiting the store, Cuevas says a woman began trailing her family through the parking lot.

“We unloaded the groceries into the car and I tried to tell my license plate number,” says Cuevas. “She said, ‘I already got it, and don’t leave because you’re leaving the scene of the crime.'”

While she was exiting the parking lot, says Cuevas, the employee began chasing the car on foot through the parking lot and the streets, frightening Cuevas enough to call the police to report the employee for chasing her family (her three daughters were with her). The dispatcher suggested the shopper pull into a nearby gas station and had an officer waiting once she pulled her vehicle into the station.

At the gas station, “the cop told me I was banned from Walmart for the rest of my life,” says Cuevas. She said that when she asked the officer if it was every Wal-Mart or the specific Wal-Mart she recently visited, the officer stated the ban was for “all Wal-Mart’s nationwide and even Sam’s Club.”

The news was a surprise to Cuevas, who says she never had a similar incident with Walmart. The previous day, a store manager declined to a do an “ad match” but “they were very nice.”

Cuevas says she has only returned to the store once and her ritual of buying 20 newspapers and clipping coupons with her older daughter has ended.

First place, she is a daily WM shopper.  Second, she buys 20 newspapers each week.  Third, she was going to WM to buy cheese, milk and candy with a few coupons.  No self-respecting couponer goes into a store with a few coupons for cheese – we hit ’em hard and heavy when the cheese siren calls.  Finally, she is a daily WM shopper… ‘nuf said.

And how about this bizarro news item I read on MojoSavings.com (I think).

By DALE LEZON HOUSTON CHRONICLE

June 28, 2011, 8:36AM

A driver who hit a pedestrian along Interstate 45 in southeast Houston early this morning didn’t stop even though the victim smashed through his windshield and landed in the front passenger seat, officials said.

The collision occurred in the 12200 block of the southbound Gulf Freeway near Fuqua about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the victim, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Police said a man was driving his Ford Explorer on the freeway when it broke down. He pulled to the shoulder and got out and began trying to cross the freeway.

The man was hit by the driver of a black Mazada, police said. Police said the collision forced the victim’s body through the windshield and he landed in the front passenger seat inside the car.

The driver did not stop after the collision, police said. Police said he got off the freeway and drove a few blocks before a Precinct 8 Harris County Constable pulled him over at 11600 Kirkvalley near Beamer and the deputy noticed the car’s front was damaged. Then the deputy saw the victim in the car, police added.

Police said the driver told the deputy he had hit something on the freeway and that he didn’t know the victim was in the passenger seat beside him.

Police are still investigating the case.

My take:  The reporter needs to do a better job of laying out the article.  And wtf are the police investigating here?  Dude is either high or drunk on his ass not to notice a body come flying through the windshield.

If you’re pregnant, you’d better be working!

to qualify and close on a home mortgage, that is. This article is from Bankrate.com.  The baffling (to me) thing to me is a commentor who claimed to be a mortgage loan originator (read:  sales rep) who is only following FHA, Fannie and Freddy underwriting guidelines. Someone must have missed the email.

No mortgages for the pregnant?

Who says you can’t have a baby and get a mortgage at the same time?

Some lenders and mortgage insurance companies do.

Federal law prohibits housing discrimination in sales, rental, and lending based on a person’s sex or familial status. According to HUD, that includes pregnancy. But some companies don’t seem to understand that.

Stories of women who are denied a mortgage loan because they are on, or about to go on maternity leave, happen more often than you think. Lenders claim they are putting the loan on hold because of the temporary loss of income and won’t approve the loan until mom returns to work.

No matter how they try to spin this, it’s just wrong. Taking 12 weeks off to take care of your newborn isn’t the same as being unemployed. And HUD will back me up on this one.

“Pregnancy is not a basis to deny or delay a loan. It’s just that simple,” says John Trasviña, HUD assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. “Mortgage professionals may verify income and other resources and have eligibility standards, but they may not single out women on maternity leave to deny or delay loans that they are otherwise eligible for.”

HUD started cracking down on this problem last year after The New York Times published a story shedding light on the issue.

This week, HUD announced a settlement agreement with a company it had investigated, Cornerstone Mortgage Company, a national mortgage lender based in Houston, which HUD has accused of “engaging in discriminatory lending practices against expectant mothers.”

The agreement resulted from a complaint made by a woman who claims the lender changed the status on her application when it learned she was on maternity leave. The woman alleges Cornerstone conditioned the approval of the loan on her return to work, which she eventually ended up doing, according to settlement agreement.

Cornerstone denies any wrongdoing or discrimination and claims it “engaged in prudent loan underwriting,” according to settlement document,  but agrees to pay the woman $15,000 and create a $750,000 fund to compensate other Cornerstone borrowers who experienced discrimination because they were on pregnancy or maternity leave at the time they were applying for a loan.

Cornerstone will have to notify all borrowers who applied for loans during a two-year time frame and the fund will pay as many as 100 claimants.

But as many other human beings, mortgage professional’s don’t learn from others’ mistakes.

HUD also announced this week that it has filed a lawsuit against mortgage insurer MGIC charging the firm with “discriminating against a Pennsylvania family by denying their application for mortgage insurance unless and until the wife returned to work from maternity leave.”
