Sunday shopping – all food groups included

Photo.jpgPhoto.jpg

First stop was CVS where I’d heard the little $1.19 tubes of Eucerin were working on the “Buy 2 get $5 ecb” promotion.  Both the $1.19 body tube and the $2.99 face lotion produced the $5 ecb.  If you’re at all interested in this deal, I wouldn’t put it off.

Photo.jpg Next stop was Staples.  Then I remembered that they don’t open until noon on Sunday and it wasn’t worth sitting in their parking lot for 15 minutes…so on to Target, where the Target ad (and signs all over the shelves) says Buy $40 in pet foods, etc. (but not treats) and get $10 off. So the best deals (price plus coupon value) I could come up with were these $2.00 off one Purina ONE beyOnd dog food and $2.00 off one Purina ONE beyOnd cat food.  Since Target has the limit four identical coupons policy, I used four dog and two cat food coupons and stacked the six bags with the $10 Target coupon, then paid with my REDcard.  I think the dog food was $6.89 and the cat food slightly more.  Wanted to grab some free Vidal Sassoon shampoo using the Family Dollar ad, but Target only carried the jumbo sizes.  However, I was able to score a few of these $1 Target coupon for L’Oreal products that don’t expire until 12/31/14.

Then on to Walmart where I price matched the Vidal Sassoon shampoo/conditioner with the Family Dollar ad for $2, then used the $2 coupons from the March P&G.  Since P&G has that stupid Limit 4 per household per day wording, you’ll either have to stop at both WM and Family Dollar all week or work it out some other way, depending on how many hundreds of coupons you might have…

Next up was PetSmart, but only for PurinaPro ’cause those $8 printables were expiring in a couple of days and I was able to use a 10% off coupon with them.  Do I need more pet food?  Heck no, but the dates are into 2015 and they’re sealed in heavy plastic.  Still ended up spending about $50 for 8 bags.  Boo!

Back to Staples where I was told that not only was the Naperville store out of the 5-ream cases of Staples brand copy paper, two other local stores were, too! Hey, guys, I’m sorry I’ve been stocking up so hard and heavy (not really). Will stop back later in the week.

Staples is giving us a free ream of HammerMill® paper this week plus a 5-ream case of Staples copy paper.  Print either or both

The HammerMill coupon restricts you to one ream, while the Staples 5-ream case coupon allows the purchase of two – print out TWO coupons for the Staples paper.

Get your ProPlan plus overage!

Here’s a few more coupons to add to your total – once you’re at $25 you’ve scored more overage!  Remember, Big Box Pet Stores all accept each other’s store coupons (they’re getting nasty about the freebies, though).

And yet another reason to get a pet (or grab some donation items – or feed a senior, heck I don’t care!).   PurinaPro $8 coupon.

Target, Walgreens and in between

Photo.jpg

Did one full loop from my house to Target and back – whew! Target had a stack of GE Reveal $4 mfr coupons on the shelf and the ceiling fan bulbs were $3.84 – – used the overage from the $4 and the $2 Target coupons to reduce the price paid for my six DiGiorno pizzas and Nicoderm patches (14 ct boxes); the slight overage from the Iams wet cat food helped to reduce my OOP as well. So the total for the bulbs, pizzas/Coke, Iams and Nicoderm was $80…price of one box of Nicoderm is $39.99.

Photo.jpgWhile at Target, look for these Game Day Greats coupon booklets.  They contain $14 in store coupons on products like Kraft cheese, Ro-Tel products… Dates are through 3/2/14. they also contain recipes.

The price of Speedstick at Walgreens (at least by me) is well over $3 – obviously not gonna help us with a BOGO sale when the BOGO coupon value is only up to $2.99. Solution? Grab the clearance varieties (check the UPC against the clearance sticker because things get messed up) which are also ringing up BOGO and you’ll end up paying high tax. I got the four here for 27¢ and earned 150 points.  Looks like they’re clearing out quite a few men’s and women’s varieties.

Hope you’ve been successful in your dog and cat food stockup – I have!

need free pet food????

Photo.jpg

Petco has a coupon for one free bag of Purina Pro dry dog (up to 6 pounds) or cat food (up to 3.5 pounds) together on the same page with a coupon for $10 off Pro Pan dry dog or cat food. Limit one per household – – but the other big box pet stores take competitor’s coupons!  Which means at least three free bags but wait!  Since these are store coupons, you can use the $3/1 Purina Pro dry cat food coupon in the 12/08 rp stacked with the $10 store coupon and pay only a buck or two for a 3.5 pound bag of dry cat food (dog food was $14.99 at Petco and $13.99 at PetSmart – I assume cat food prices are similar).  There is also a $2 coupon for Purina Pro dog snacks in the 11/17 S – PetSmart had these on clearance for $3 something.  And if you’re running low on funds, you can mix small amounts of dry cat food with the dog food.  Mind you, it’s not a good idea to give ’em all cat food, but some firms up their stools slightly.  and now a perfect segue into…

Hope you got lots of firecracker chicken tonight – we did!  And no, we do not drive around from one Panda Express location to another wasting time and gas!  Instead you determine where you’re going and what else you need/want to hit up along a circular route.  In our case, we gabbed at Rachel’s and grabbed more stuff at a Walgreens outside my usual comfort zone, picked up dog food and shopped at Yorktown!  The Cinnabon store in the food court was closing for the night and offered us bags of cinnamon twisty-things and containers of dipping stuff for a buck a bag.  Never tried them, but they sure are tasty little suckers!

PetSmart coupons

Friend at Puppy Parlor called last night and told me about some great coupons on the PetSmart Facebook Page:  Like ’em and get a $5/$25 coupon for in-store purchases (also coupons for services and Science Diet dry dog food).  Expiration 4/29/12.  This is a very nice way to stock up on clearance supplies and pet food (although not as nice as the totally free ones I’ve posted in the past – hehehehehe).

$5 off $25 or more Petco

Reader shot me this info:  On April 14th and 15th, Petco will offer $5 off a $25 or more purchase with this store coupon.  There doesn’t appear to be a limit to how many you can print – but obviously a limit to your wallet.  I’ve used these store coupons at PetSmart and PetSupplies Plus in the past.

I would strongly suggest saving this coupon now, because it’s likely to disappear within the next ten days.

Jewel (almost) free deli & PetSmart clearance

The Thursday Jewel ad has a BOGO store coupon on 1/2 lb packages of DiLussa lunch meat or cheese.  There is also a $1 manufacturer coupon on 1 1/2 lb in the 1/29 S.  Since one is a store and the other is a manufacturer coupon, you can stack them both for some really, really cheap deli.  I picked up 14 packs of meat and cheese in approximately 1/2 lb weights and my total OOP was $13.22.

Note:  The store coupon is limit one coupon per transaction (the second one just does not scan), so you must break each transaction down into two 1/2 lb packs; they have stacks of the $1 manufacturer coupons on many of the deli counters, but they are the new coupons with the one bar code and will not scan at SCOT.  What we did was use the insert $1 to scan and then inserted the goofy coupons into the slot.  Makes it go much faster.

Next was PetSmart, where I had heard that they were clearancing out certain varieties of Mighty Dog for 27¢ a can.  I bought three full cases of 24 cans each and used six of the $2 coupons from 1/29 R1 (dog cover).  Total OOP was $9.46.

Credit to MUM for the DiLussa tip.

PetSmart Dentley coupon

PetSmart has a $5 off any Dentley product $10 or more; expiration date of 5/1/12.  I’ve been seeing lots of $5 mfr peelies on these bags.   And with six months to wait, bound to be more deals.

PetSmart

There is a $2/1 Nylabone pdf coupon on their website for edible products (not those big ole bone things).  PetSmart is having a clearance on several types of the individual packs:  one is .77 each and another is 1.54.  The Wheaton store mgr had informed some staff that it was fine to use this coupon against the clearanced packs (approximately 3 for each coupon), but apparently the word did not drift down to the asst mgr working when I stopped in.  If your store takes it, great – free treats!  Some PetSmart stores have total jackasses in charge, others are all fantastic from the top down.

many thanks to MUM for the link

PetSmart, Wags-Wheaton, Dominicks

Decided to see if I could find any more of the free cleaners from PetSmart, but was only able to score 5 of the Toy Cleaner types at the DG store – none in Wheaton.  Note:  This sale not only ends on Sunday, June 19, these cleaners are all being discontinued and you will not get a rain check.  Well, frankly, even if you did get a rain check, what good would it do you on a discontinued item, right?

Next I hit up Wags for 47 of the Air Wick sprays (for a friend – my house doesn’t stink that much).  Now that was a long time at the register.  I picked up another 72 of the Seattle’s Best coffee while I was there and the remaining three cases of Coke Zero they were holding for me.  Had a very nice long conversation with Ron, a reader of this site and a huge Wags fan and buyer with a capital B.  Hello, Ron!

Then off to the Dominicks at the far side of hell, otherwise known as Danada.  I only went in for 16 boxes of the Mama Lucia meatballs, but there was a lot of the clearance dairy, so in the cart it went.  I will say without reservation that Dominicks has the best selection of discounted dairy – way better than Jewel, well, ’cause Jewel doesn’t discount their dairy!  So 50% off 3 cottage cheese, 2 half & half and 1 quart Lucerne coffee creamer plus two packages of the new Kraft big slices on sale with $1/1 coupons on tearpads.  Total was $22, since I was using 8 of the $1/2 coupons generously donated by a reader.

So that’s my stash, all buried in the back of my new (to me, anyway) Subaru.  Steve jokingly asked me if I bought it using Register Rewards.  Of course not!  but i did put it on my Discover card to get lots of rewards…
