PetSmart$$

OK, I’ll admit it…messed up big time.  Forgot my PetSmart gift card in another purse (like I have so many that I’m constantly accessorizing, dontchaknow).  So I had to use actual cash – well, Discover card anyway.  That’s cash, isn’t it?

I read on CW that PawSafe cleaners were on sale for .99 at PetSmart through, I believe, June 25th.  And, wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles (cue Fiddler on the Roof overture here), there is a PawSafe coupon on the Simple Solution web site.  So I got the bag of pee pads for the 20+ year old cat who has really taken to these things and must be drinking water all day and night; they rang at $26.99, but since the coupons gave me a penny overage on each, I paid $30.36 in total…damned high tax.

Freebies for home and dog

How about some free dog treats?  The Purina Pro Plan Roasted Slices 3.5 oz size are on sale at PetSmart for $2.50 with PetPerks card.  Coincidentally, there is a $2.50 coupon in the 2/27 s.  Just took 11 from the Wheaton store – so you needn’t bother – paid a couple of dollars tax…

many, many thanks to the the CW OP

I see a free sample of Purex Complete with Zout.  Click here and get yours.  Note it claims a 12 week period for delivery.  maybe this should be tagged  Zut alors!

Next is a sample of John Frieda Root Awakening, courtesy of Walmart.   Doesn’t say if it’s for shampoo or conditioner.  If you need small sizes for traveling though…

Dominicks and PetSmart

Twenty-five MC pot pies:  turkey, honey-roasted chicken, chicken and mushrooms; two Dannon greek yogurts (free J4U).  OOP was $13.40.  There is a $1.50 off ANY Marie Callendar pie on the last page of the $42 frozen book.  Hey, a pot pie is a pie, right?  Since they are on sale 5/$10 for the BIG ones (16.5 oz), subtract the 1.50 and you’re paying .50 each.  Unfortunately, they beeped at self-scan but the attendant put them in; don’t know if it would have worked differently with a cashier.  I used two cards to get the two yogurts free.

This is probably the last time I’m going to use those $5 store coupons; it’s getting to be way too much work.  This time they only let me use one coupon, making the comment – once again – that the font was not the same as the one from corporate.  Yeah, well, buddy, it is a legitimate coupon printed on my MAC!  Yes, PCs and Macs print out different-looking coupons.  If they don’t want us to use these coupons multiple times, why do they continue to put them out as pdfs?  dumbasses… I paid tax for the 20 packs pictured.

CVS, Wags, PetSmart, pet shop, library, Jewel, collapse…

CVS for the Aquafresh toothbrushes and pump. They’re part of the $5/5 oral health care promo, so buying 5 or more brings you down to coupon price.  Sadly, this was all they had on the shelf so ended up .51 OOP.  I’ll check back later in the week for toothbrushes when their next shipment comes in.

Wags was only a quickie stop to grab twelve Capn Crunch clearance boxes using the .50/1 from today’s inserts.  OOP was .11, probably the only thing I’ve bought at Wags for low tax!

On to PetSmart, where I just noticed that they are charging up to 10% tax on some pet food.  Wheaton basically sucks donkey balls when it comes to taxation.  If I had to actually pay cash for this stuff I’d be broke.  They let me run everything in one transaction, using three of the $5 store coupons and the various mfr coupons:  22 cans of Friskies; 40 cans of Mighty Dog; 2 pedigree.  OOP was $4.  Note the coupon matchups were from the prior post.  I’ll hit the DG one another day to empty out my wallet.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  I really hope you are using the PetSmart coupons with your name and PetPerks number on them.  They checked my coupons against my card (!) because they had received a corporate memo that the ones with the blank space where the names/numbers are usually printed are fraudulent (with copies of coupons people had tried to use taped to the registers).  They told me that mine weren’t right because the print type was different than what corporate sent out, but since my name and number were on them and matched my card, that wouldn’t fly (I don’t know why the type would be different, unless I have a mac?).  Either way, they were very courteous and I do not mean to imply that it was anything but a pleasure to shop there.

Stopped at Puppy Parlor to drop off ten Sunday papers (not all mine!) – wait, you actually read the print edition?

Jewel was almost completely out of Fuze – apparently some sonofabitch came in last night and took 500 off the shelves and out of the backroom.  There is a reason why we special order, folks.  Otherwise mgmt gets pissed because there’s nothing left for those regular shoppers and especially today because there was a table set up for sampling.  Hard to sell and sample limited product…

Ended up with four SB milk, 16 Fuze, seven Allegra (for MUM’s House of Plague), Deans light cream and two packages of Jewel brand lima beans.  I used the $2/25 from the Jewel email, coupons on everything else except the cream.  PITA found three FREE jewel veggies cats, so used one.  OOP was $5.13 and I freaked, thinking I’d missed a coupon.  Realized at the very end that my cream alone was $4 – silly Goddess.   I’ll probably hand over a small RR to get cash back when I return tomorrow for more Allegra and Fuze.

NOTE: Jewel warehouse computer had a glitch/hiccup and no Fuze was sent out yesterday, so 17 stores are short.  ouch! Deliveries will be made tonight, so it should be back in stock, although I don’t know of the quantities available then.  Get a rain check.

PetSmart – update

Decided to run a short list of canned pet food good coupons currently available.  If you can find any of these on clearance, so much the better.

3/13r BOGO Alpo; 3/20r $3/10 cans Mighty Dog (run 20 and pay 0); 3/27r Whiskas BOGO.  If you see any more, please comment.

.Ran two transactions today, then gave up ’cause it was so nasty outside.  I’ll hit them up again tomorrow with the Friskies BOGO from 3/27S2 making each deal 22 cans for….FREE!  These 18 cans of Friskies, one Wellness and three party mix treats cost me .65 and that was only using peelies with the $5 store coupons.

PITA and I stopped at Fannie May on the way and redeemed two more of our coupons.  Life is sweet…

More free pet food?

It’s not enough, I guess, to clear the PetSmart shelves; I just downloaded a $1/1 coupon on any Wellness canned dog or cat food.  Note that the coupon reads “limit one per purchase per customer” so ymmv.  just sayin’.  Click wellness-can-sample and mix some of these cans in with your clearance and freebies.

Wags and PetSmart

Well, I only hit up Wags because of my expired/expiring RRs; I really didn’t have any hopes of spotting the elusive Luster White.  And I was right…  So picked up stuff like vitamins and creams, but I did take a few of the Carefree pads to generate a few RRs.  sadly, just a few.  I mean, it’s not even worth clipping out the $1.50 coupon in the 4/3 insert.

On another Note:  I have tentatively worked out another Wags, this one in the far southwest suburbs.  No further info until it’s finalized, but keep your fingers crossed.

So on to PetSmart to use up more of my $5 coupons.  I picked up all the stuff you see here for .58.  The trick to using these $5 coupons (learned back last November during the last run) is to pick up the clearance food/discontinued, etc. to get the most bang for your buck.  The Nature’s Recipe was going for .36, the cat food was free and I took 12 of the by nature (PetSmart will no longer be carrying this brand in-store).  So now I’ll see what other PetSmarts I can find with clearance food.  Last November I picked up about 6 cases of Pedigree cans.

PetSmart

I actually ran two transactions, only one of which is pictured.  The one pictured was for 22 cans of Pedigree dog food.  I used 10 BOGOs (3/6 RP), the 2 free when you buy 10 mfr coupon (on the PetSmart site) and the $5 PetSmart pdf coupon from my PetPerks account.  Total OOP was $1.15, which I paid with a gift card.

Second transaction was basically a giant box of pee pads (for the 21 year old cat who has now decided that he’s damned well not going down to the litter boxes any more), 12 boxes of the Purina One Beyond cat food (clearanced out at $1.25) and the Picky Cat box from Royal Canin (free coupon on my PetPerks account).  I used a $5 PetSmart coupon and all the Purina free coupons, but those pads are a killer.  Total was  $28.38 which I paid with a gift card. ouch!

Attempted coupon fraud

There has been a shitstorm posted already about the J’aime Kirlew “coupon fraud” segment on EC Wednesday night.  I’m not going to jump up on a soapbox here (although dumber than a box of rocks does spring to mind), so don’t worry.  I’ve always said that if there were a way to get stuff for better than free – and no one would ever know about it – I’d be in.  But this is the real world, folks, and I have to shop in the same stores day in and day out.  Burning bridges only works on TLC, where fraud and lunacy seem to rule the day.  and spike ratings…

Having made all those highfaluting  comments above, I decided to see if I could use the high value Crest whitening strips on Tide.  I tried the $10 coupon from the 4/3 P&G AND a $10 coupon from the card with the white strips sample.  Nothing, nada, zero, zip, zilch.  Register just kept claiming “Product not found.”  Imagine that.  So while I know there are sites out there which decipher coupon codes to see just which family products they will work on:  1) you need to spend an awful lot of time on this and 2) you need either an extremely dumb and lazy cashier or one who is hoping to get fired or someone working their last day or an accomplice.  So you know what?  I’ll stay honest just because it’s easier…and I’m lazy.

Now I’m off to score at PetSmart…’cause I got mine!

Free Pet Food at PetSmart – Gone

The $5 off coupon has now disappeared from their site.  Hope you were all able to download it.

Will they ever learn?  I hope you took my advice last time this sweet deal came up and registered for the PetPerks program.  It’s free and they send you some awesome deals in the mail – LIKE THIS ONE.  Click here and either register or log in.  Click the coupons section and see the great stuff PetSmart wants to give us…

The coupons can all be saved as a pdf document, state that only one coupon per transaction and have expiration dates two to four weeks out.
