I was on the phone with someone with questions (always questions!) about the Sinex deal.  I finally went down to the basement and grabbed a random box of Dayquil – looked at it carefully and realized that the expiration date was 4/2010.  Yeah, that’s right.  Not the usual thing for Wags, obviously someone screwing up at the warehouse.  I returned it for cash (obviously they were out of stock) and picked up the onion rings for the casserole dish that every family in America makes for holidays:  green bean casserole!  Since I have about a bazillion cans of the french-style green beans in the basement and a few cans of the cream of mushroom soup, the only thing missing was the topping.

Picked up 7 of these for $4.04.  If you actually calculate it, I didn’t pay for them because I got $5 cash back from the Dayquil return, but I only spent $2 on it originally.  go team!

Wags Sinex run

I’m sure there’s a play on words here (Sinus = nose = run), but I’m more interested in the MM aspect.  Ran 12 transaction (9 with the Gain dish soap) for a total OOP of $25.70; RRs total $60.  If you add in the $25 cost of my 100 coupons (from a clipping service), I’m still up by about $10.  From now on, everything outside of my $2.18 will be profit.

I hope you all ordered these Sinex $4/1 coupons when I first posted about it, because the prices have skyrocketed in the past few days.  If you order within the next day or two there’s still a good chance you’ll get them before the end of sale on Saturday.  Since most Wags get their shipments once a week, if they’re out of stock, get rainchecks for the Nyquil and the Dayquil – the RR is a monthly promotion and the coupons expire 11/30.  They’re bound to come in at some point in the next couple of weeks.

At one Wags there was a radio station car handing out bottles of Sobe.  which explains the 3 bottles in the picture.  did you honestly think I’d turn down free Sobe?

Anybody want to buy some Nyquil or Dayquil?  cheap?  really really cheap?

Whirlwind shopping tours

Saturday is ME day, which means I expect my family to take care of themselves.  In between time-consuming tasks like mani/pedicures, sigh, I squeezed in a few shopping runs.  Wags was a last minute – Oh, I forgot the Kleenex sale ends today!! – run and the Jewel?  Well,  let’s just say I have no great faith in the mixers or PF Chang still showing on the preferred cards after tonight.  May be wrong, but I’d rather buy them all now and return with my coupons within the next 60 days.

Found Kleenex at only one Wags, and they were the cube ones, not the 200 ct boxes, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers, right?  So 8 boxes with 4 coupons; ended up OOP $4.37 and got back a $3 RR.  On to Jewel…

This Jewel had a goodly selection of the HC mixers, so ran two transactions of 8 each using my Dominicks Fresh Values cards.  What, you want me to lie about it?  No PF Chang on either of them, only the mixers, but hey… So I ended up OOP $4.35 on each deal, but I’ll go back with the coupons later.  Had I used the coupons at the time, I could have used 8 on each transaction and gotten $4 in overage, which would have been sweet, but in this case, I’d rather go back with only 4 coupons and not worry about missing out on the deal completely.  PITA daughter loves these things, so anything that gets her to eat is fine by me, especially if it’s free…

I’m gonna post as I see things and right now I’m not majorly impressed.  Don’t like these piddly little .50 off sales when you buy 10 items.  Makes no sense that the discount is the same on a .99 item as on a 4.99 one – but hey, I’m not a marketing genius…although I don’t think grocery chains are hiring the Einsteins of the marketing world, either  –  but I digress…

Check your Avenue card(s) to see just what’s lurking.  The past months have been horrible, mostly Shoppers Value 5 lb tubs of potato or pasta salad – so not what I want.  My cards now show one promising item, the PF Chang Home Menu Meals, with a $2.50 discount (limit 6) through midnight of November 16, so I plan to stack the $2/1 coupon (9/12 rp) and the buy 10 get .50 off.  If I get all 6 I can add four of the other sale items, look for applicable coupons and then pay the whole thing off with the RRs from the Sinex deal, which starts up again on the 14th!  shhhhhh, don’t tell anyone we’re eating free Chinese for the next few weeks! Cost per package:  $6.99 – .50 – 2.50 – 2 = 1.99 each.

Update the 2nd: The mixers have been pulled from three of my cards, only one of which was used today to purchase the mixers, but the CF Changs remain on all three.  Remember, we’re the dark side, so here’s what you do…Go to the Avenue site and register your Dominicks card(s).   The mixer deals will reappear on each, limit 8 but no PF Changs.  Use the card at SCOT. hehehehehehehe. As posted on CW, the Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers are on sale for $2.50 and on most Avenues for $2/1.  Stack them with the mfr q in 10/24 s and we’re talking either free or a .50 MM.  I know this is a love/hate product for many of you, but my PITA likes these, they’re easy and quick enough for her to make without whining and, did I mention…they’re free!

Ran a couple of Wags transactions – note that most of the stores are going to be sold out of the Kleenex 200 ct tissues due to the Wags store coupon in the ad.  Unless you’re going there for the Neuragen (and I certainly would), better to wait until the stores get their shipments during the week.

Pictured here are 16 Kleenex, 1 Neuragen and 1 bottle of contact lens solution.  I don’t wear contacts, but found a cat for a FREE bottle of Wags brand.  Since it was a store coupon, there was no tax involved, so why not?  The high-tax (.63!) Kleenex ended up costing .39/each, the Neuragen was $19.99 less my $10 coupon (and the MIR for $20) and the free contact lens.  Kleenex breakdown is as follows:  11/7 S has a B3G1 coupon and 10/3 S has a .50/3.  Buy 8 Kleenex using as many of the insert coupons as you have together with the in-ad Wags coupon.  Pay $5.54 plus tax and receive a $3 RR.  A good day for stockpile stuff.  While there may well be better tissue deals during the upcoming cold/flu season, it doesn’t hurt to start a mini-stockpile – like toilet paper, it’s not going to go bad, you’re always going to need it and the design’s not gonna change.

Well, they were singing something like that anyway…

Sunday is the day I get my inserts delivered, track down more inserts and hit the Wags.  Well, today I also stopped at Jewel to grab a few more free Fuze and a bunch more Mentos ’cause I found a tearpad of BOGO coupons, which paired nicely with the $1 coupons in the 10/3 S.  Today I picked up four of the Neuragen, filled out the rebates and stuck ’em in the mailbox.  Finally filled out the two Olay rebates from the Target stuff last week and stuck those in the mailbox.  Phew!  Such a lot of work…it’s hard to maintain this pace.

That Neuragen is a teeny, tiny little box with a regular price of, ready for this one —–$31.98!  Seriously, this must be like crack for your feet!  If you can find a bunch of addicts, sell ’em for a ten-spot each and get that much closer to paying off the mortgage…

Wags Sinex MM – it’s back!!!!

Iheartwags shows the Wags ad for 11/14 with the exact same dealio as ran this week:  buy 2 Nyquil/Dayquil, etc. for $10 and get back a $5 RR.  Sweet when you pay with two $4/1 coupons from the 10/10 P&G insert.  Unfortunately, the clipping services around Chicago seem to have run out, so your best bet is to hit other states.  I just bought 100 from a couple of services in New York and Florida, states where Wags doesn’t have a big presence.

If you have a favorite clipping service, check with them first.  I like dede (button on the ride side), but she only has the $1.50 coupon – pah!  I turned to other local clippers – again, nothing.  Hit eBay and finally lucked out.

So, I repeat, if you plan on hitting Wags for this sale, make your plans now.  Place your orders with sellers with high/good feedback and pay immediately so they can be shipped as soon as possible.  A cheap coupon won’t help if you receive it too late – pay a little more for a high value coupon to generate a high value RR in your pocket – Free Thanksgiving Dinners!!!

Meijer (and others) MMs

Hadn’t posted this yet, not that I have any scruples about it (don’t bother wasting your emails), but the $5 combo coupon in the 10/31 P&G for Secret deodorant and Olay body wash (or bar) ALSO WORKS ON THE TRIAL SIZES! I already knew that the deodorant trial size worked, which gave some cheap body wash, but cheap is not the same as free, so I held off on posting.

I now read on a few sites that both the .97 deodorant and the 1.29 body wash trial sizes allow you to use the $5 coupon, so almost a $3 MM!

I honor those whose minds are so twisted that they come up with and attempt these scenarios!   I know Meijer’s carries both these products in trial sizes, but not sure about Target, Wags, CVS, WM, et alia, so if you see ’em, try.

More free money from Wags

Picked up another 16 of the Dayquils using the $4/1 coupons from the October P&G insert.  Spend $17.44 OOP and got back $40 in RRs.  But you say, why would you buy so many?  Not for what I need, but for what I can buy with it.

My Jewel trip, which consisted of four Papa Charlie’s, two Gonnella rolls packages and one large jar of hot gardiniera.  Total OOP (after coupons and the RRs) was $1.87.  Got 6 more pot stamps.

A tale of two drug stores… CVS vs Wags

Used to be that Wags held my heart because there just weren’t that many CVS stores around.  I know it’s different in some areas, but here?  You can spit in any direction and hit five or more Wags.  So the fact that there was a new CVS store opening 2.13 miles away made me think that, perhaps, my affections would shift.

CVS grand opening today.  No notices in mail, no inserts or notices in Trib, no emails, plenty of parking (not a good sign). No Oral B vitality toothbrushes (claimed 4 or 5 customers had taken them earlier).  Apparently no budgets for grand openings.  I did point out, quite sweetly, that if they would stop paying such large fines to the government there would be plenty of money left over. Did not get much of a response.  Only positive was the convenient location.  Got 4 of the battery toothbrushes.  Using two cards, spent $9.40 OOP and got back $8 ecb, which I can only use at CVS.

Wags a mile down the street…Mostly full parking lot.  Had the ZarBEE cough syrup (told you to print them before print limit reached!) and Nyquil/Dayquil Sinex (Sept. P&G $4 q, exp. 10/31) MMs.  ’nuff said.  Ran four transactions:  $18.90 OOP, got $39 in RRs, which I can use at Dominicks or Jewel.
