Afternoon frolics

Took the PITA with me (against my better judgment), so the fact that I scored any deals at all is news worthy…

Stopped off first at Wags, since the PF Chang was on sale 2/$14 (!) with a $4 rr.  Used the $2/1 mfr coupon from 9/12 rp (exp. 12/05) and paid with a bunch of rrs (used the scented candy cane pens for filler).  Total: $13.45 OOP and got back $16 in rrs.

Then off to CVS, where I read on MUM that the magic coupon machine was spitting out $2.50/1 Planters almonds, which are, coincidentally, on sale for 2/$5.00!  Pulled into the parking lot of the newest CVS (Ogden & Naper Blvd) and was amazed at how full it was.  Well, good for you, I thought…  then I opened the door.  Wall to wall pre-teen girls and boys – at least 100!  Loud, nasty music (OK, shoot me, I’m old).  Turns out that B96 was set up and was having drawings for, among other things, Justin Bieber tickets.  Well, the PITA was majorly pissed that I didn’t want to stay (hourly drawings and you have to be present) and needed an attitude adjustment – swelling should go down by school tomorrow). OOP was 0

Target for the few things I had coupons ON ME for.  So this means I’ll head on over there for all the gift card stuff tomorrow morning  without the PITA!!!  woot!  woot!!  The Hungry Hippo traveling games are not in the regular game section, but in a special stocking stuffers section along the back wall in the “D” section.   Target OOP was $1.66 (don’t forget to claim the .05 credit for every bag you bring and use).

One of the things I wanted to pick up was the Ponds cleansing cloths for the $5 gc.  I took a picture of the endcap where the Vaseline and Ponds were located, since you’ll never find these with regular items!  That would make it too easy.  These deals involve stacking Target and mfr coupons, so it’s a .62 MM on each set of 2.  I’ll pick up a bunch tomorrow morning and post the exact coupons.

Jewel and Wags

Ran to Jewel with a friend (she wanted moral support ’cause she was bringing in receipts with coupons worth about $70!  So don’t think you can’t go back and save).  Nothing really special for me, but I did pick up some clearance skirt steak for about two bucks each.  The trick, obviously, is to get the smallest package with the largest dollar amount off.

Now…Wags.  Figured I get a few more of the Quaker Oats while it was still on sale.  Or rather, on sale, with a coupon and the Breathe Right MM!  Ran this deal three times:  two oatmeal and two Breathe Right.  Hand over the two $1 Quaker mfr coupons and the $1.50 Breathe Right mfr coupon.  Then hand over the Wags coupon reducing the Breathe Right from .99 to .49.  The way the Wags registers work is that you use one coupon less than the number you are purchasing, otherwise the damned thing beeps and game over.  By buying the 2, you are “paying” .99 each (or 1.98) and the $1.50 mfr coupon goes in like Flynn.

Using my method means you only get .52 overage, but it goes through smoothly – worth it to me.  Each order came to $2.64 with $2 back in RRs.

Sinex treasure hunt

Listen, I’m sitting here on another 40 coupons that I really, really wanted to get rid of…decided to do the road trip thingie heading east along Ogden Avenue, stopping at any Wags I could see.  Headed all the way to Berwyn and returned via Cermak (22nd St), where I was able to find these TWO in Westchester.  So unless my DH gets a craving for tamales tonight and heads into the city (not real likely, I know), this is it for me.  I started out with about 125 coupons and have 41 remaining, so I made roughly $80 and have a  shitload of product!  There’s a possibility I will be able to use the coupons during the next week or so, but we’ll see if the Wags warehouse even has them in stock to distribute.

Today’s frolics

Sorry I’ve been out of touch.  Earlier today I stopped at CVS to use up an expiring ecb.  Ended up with the stuff in the picture for $7.  I use the shampoos for liquid soap, so the cheaper the better (hey, you can’t convince me that there’s a difference between SoftSoap and cheap shampoo!).  and the candy bars?  well, let’s just say I had a coupon and leave it at that…

Then I ran into Wags to get that $3/15 RR that’s been printing out for everyone.  Pick out the cheapest items you can find (scented votive candles for 6/$1), ring each one separately and you get an RR for each.  Picked out 3, went to the register and said “Ring them up separately.”  He reached under the counter and handed me three of the RRs which had been discarded!  Sweet!  I still took the candles though in one transaction (no RR), just cause they smelt so purty.

The cool rubber boots I got at Sears a couple of weeks ago turned out to be too large for the intended recipient, so trundled off to Oak Brook to exchange them, stopping at Wags along the way to check for….well, you know what (and the answer is nada, nothing, zip, zero, zilch).

Tomorrow is hit all the Wags in an easterly direction Day.  Wish me luck.

If I have time, I’ll drop by Target for some free (slight MM) Ponds towelettes and Vaseline lotion.  You combine the Target coupon (from their site) with the $1.50 coupon for Vaseline lotion from 11/14 R (Unilever insert) and get a $5 gift card.  Make sure you grab the bonus lotion (31.8 oz).  The Ponds towelettes is the bonus 40 ct size using the Target coupon (from their site) and here and here.  I read this yesterday on Totally Target and give her much thanks for same (also credit in the coupons).

Obviously I haven’t had time to work the above deal, but there’s no reason why it won’t work.  Don’t look for it in the ad; it’s an unadvertised gift card.

Been out most of the afternoon/evening at a strategic planning meeting for the next three years for a consolidated school district for special needs kids.  Very long, very interesting, very nice food.  what more can i say?

Don’t hate me ’cause I’m beautiful

…however, feel perfectly free to despise me ’cause I’m a shelf-clearer!

Here’s the Wags total:  18 Nyquil;  6 Puff 200 count (free when you buy two Vicks 11/28 P&G); 10 boxes Quaker Oats ($1 q 9/12 rp);  1 Breathe Right (wags and $1.50 10/17 rp); Secret deodorant and Olay 2-bar box ($5 on both 10/31 P&G) and 7 Wags mouthwash.  The sale mouthwash was thrown in because DH and DS have decided that all the stockpile Crest mouthwash tastes like it was brewed by the devil

So what’re my numbers?  I mean, what good are pretty pictures when the bottom line sucks donkey balls, right?  My OOP receipts total $26.41 and I have $45 in new RRs ($10 from Quaker & $35 leftover from Nyquil).  I can’t be bothered with math, ’cause math is hard (well that’s what Barbie says and that’s good enough for me!)…

Little Village (26th Street, Chicago)

¡Hola!  DH decided he really needed a Maxwell Street Polish so off we went to Chicago on a frolicking detour.   Ate too much.  Next, a tour of Mexico, where we parked and I just had to run into the Wags to see if they had any Sinex – no shit, I did.  Well, they had some and I had rain checks and coupons but ran one test transaction and the RR didn’t print.  I had read it was a month-long RR, so was surprised, but at least I can drive there for my Sinex MM jones.

We also stopped at a panaderia (bakery) for …. stuff.  lots and lots and lots of … stuff.

Then, as if we didn’t have enough “stuff,” we stopped at the El Milagro tortilla “factory” and picked up 7 dozen tortillas for $2 and  $1.75 for a bag of the same chips they sell in whitepeoplesland for mucho dinero (I am fluent in food and money).

Oh, almost forgot the dozen tamales ($11) and the large container of pico de gallo.  Crap, just realized how much we spent – single-handedly floating the Little Village economy!

Wags today – minor correction

Realized that I had purchased a $5 calendar for someone who repaid me; please subtract $5 from subtotal (which makes be feel a whole hell of a lot cheaper!) Had a shitload of RRs expiring within the next few days so decided to burn through all of them!   Lest you think I’ve lost my mind, I was buying things that gave me back RRs or MIRs.  The Renpure and Organix shampoos and conditioners are BOGOs and four Renpure had hts for MIR of $6.99.  The Planters were free after MIR, the pop was .99 with a $.99 RR and the Colgate was $2.99, less two coupons and a $3 RR.  OOP was $42.83, I burned $55 in RRs, got back $27.45 in RRs and will recoup $27.96 from the Renpure and $10.47 from the Planters.

Recap:  Spent $97.83, got back $27.45, so we’re at 70.38.  Our MIRs will be $38.92.   So my real OOP will be $31.46 for 17 organic shampoos & conditioners, 3 cans of Planters, 3 2L  pops, 1 highlighter and 5 tubes of Colgate.  Or, to put it another way (since Sinex RRs were $31.02 profit):  all this for $ .44.

Removed from the table before the picture were the 2L pop bottles and a yellow highlighter.

Wags

Although I didn’t need anything, thought I’d mosey on over and see what was left…or what money I could make.   There is a $10 store coupon in the new Diabetes and You magazine for the Delica lancing device which stacks nicely with the $19.99 from 10/31 S.  I also picked up 3 of the Olay Total Effects which were sale-priced at 6.99 (get back $7 RR) and on which I used the $1 coupon from the 10/31 P&G.  Also in that issue is a BOGO for the Total Effects and ribbons body wash.  So…… total OOP was $11.85 and got back $7 RR – I’ll use the Olay items (facial items) for part of the $50 Olay rebate – my third.

Wags – feel the luv

Stopped in to get a couple more cans of the toasted onion rings (which are so bad and sooo good) and to visit the empty spot where the Sinex should be – yes, I’m a realist.  Well, instead of giving me a raincheck (didn’t want to inconvenience me), they substituted the regular Nyquil and Dayquil boxes.  Ran it 5 times.  oh, and paid $1.11 for the French’s.

Last Sinex in Chicagoland!

Well, maybe not the last, but they’re definitely rarer than hen’s teeth!  At every Wags store that received a shipment today, not one got Sinex – even stores that told me they were ordering extra cases.  Bad news for us, but there’s still a few suburbs I haven’t yet hit!  If we’re SOL this week, plan on hitting them hard on the week of the 28th.  The 2/$10 deal will be back on, the coupons expire on the 30th and the RR is a monthly deal.  At some point we have to score, peeps!
