Hearing about possible snow overnight and morning seriously pisses me off – I mean, I’m supposed to get a few last-minute items for Christmas Day!  So after dinner, PITA and I head over to Jewel and Wags.

Jewel for the items shown in the picture; bread was courtesy of a Jewel cat and for the rest I used RRs.  And eggs?  I think we go through almost as many eggs as bananas!  Note:  Jewel was well-stocked with the Tribe hummus.  If you want or need more, the coupon expires 12/31, although the sale goes through 1/5.

Wags was for Coffee Nips for my mom.  She loves them, I love her, so stock up time.  Since they weren’t on sale and I didn’t have any coupons, I felt my heart go into palpitations, until I realized that the RRs I used to pay really only cost me $2.15 for each $5 (Hallmark, anyone?).  My mind made easy, we got in the car and drove home.  So even without coupon or sales, you can still be a tightwad!

Go to coupons.com, conveniently located on the right side bar.  Click under food and start printing out the Wonka coupons.  You want the 3 coupons for the bars:  1 BOGO, 1 $3/2 bars and $1/1 bar.  Stack this with the $1/2 in the Wags monthly booklet and you’ll be left with free, but high tax chocolate bars.  In my case it was .29 for each transaction of 2.  Make sure you print out your first set of 3 and then go back and find them once again (you can’t just hit the back key with coupons.com).  Your transactions should go as follows:  1 BOGO and the Wags $1/2 = FREE.  $3/2 coupon with $1/2 Wags  = FREE.  You can do this twice with each set, netting you 8 bars.

If any of you see something worth busting your chops over, please share…  I’ll probably head over to Wags to pick up another Hungry Hippo (lots of those travel games for $4.99 – coupon expires today) and probably a couple of cans of the 2/$5 Walgreens’ brand almonds – have to use up a Jingle store cat.   Nothing else looks even remotely interesting.

Deciding about Dominicks….I could see picking up more of the little tangerines, since we’re really going through them and a cheap milk, but other than that?   Already bought enough crackers, so…..

Mail out three rebates and hit Jewel for another three deals?  Yeah, better get there before Monday and the Attack of the Jillites…

Well, they’re obviously not pushing enough flu vaccines out the door, so now this promotion shows up:

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today announced that Walgreens has agreed to donate $10 million in vouchers for free flu shots to 350,000 eligible uninsured and underserved people in 15 markets across the country.

and while you’re waiting for that free flu shot, look around and do a little shopping…yeah, i’m cynical like that…

Just needed to burn one of those Jingle store cats, so stopped in and got four things:  Goody elastics, Revlon polish, ActivON (for old guy) and nail file.  Used the Wags coupon in the beauty book on the polish and paid with one $5 store cat and 2 $5 RRs and .97.  Got back $15 in regular RRs.

Decided to head back to Jewel and pick up some hummus and “stuff” to get up to the $20 for the $9 ham store coupon.  Here you see: 10 Tribe Origins (the expensive one!) hummus ($1 pdf); 1 Lunchables (from Target site – yes, it worked and I apologize Rachel); 1 MinuteMaid juice thingie (Free cat the PITA found); 2 8 o’clock coffee (2 wts) and a big ole ham ($9 Jewel coupon).  Total was 6.73 so I used a $4 Wags RR to get down to $2.73.

Cross the street to Wags to use up one of the store RRs.  Picked up 6 of the Bic BOGO razors ($2/1 12/12 s); 2 CoffeeMate ($1.50 printables); 2 AA and 2 AAA Duracell ($1.50/1  12/12 rp); Revlon fast dry polish ($1 Wags coupon) and ActivOn arthritis pain reliever (for old guy).  Used one $5 store RR, 1 $4 RR and 1 $5 RR and ended up paying a couple of buck OOP (I can’t believe I actually lost a receipt).  Got back $5 store RR plus an $8 RR for the ActivOn and a $5 for the Revlon.

Flying trips and posts here, trying to get as much done as possible before any potential storms hit…

CVS first for the magic coupon machine, where I hit the jackpot three times!  Since they were out of the sadlyexpired Planters, they substituted the three cans of almonds you see here ( 2012 dates – I checked).

Then off to Wendy’s for a double order of the free fries for the PITA.  If I could only figure out a way to transfer my fat…..but I digress.  Next stop Wags for the Reach dental floss, ’cause I’m a fool for floss.  Got the eight shown and a $5 Wags store cat for going over $25 (yes, I know they changed the program overnight, but mgr gave me one anyway.  Must be my pleasing personality – not).

Apparently the gravy train has broken down, peeps.  As of early am, the MM on the tissue paper no longer works, so buy it ’cause you need/want it and don’t expect a $5 RR.

A whirlwind tour of the local Wags, people.  I’m combining the whole thing into one picture for viewing ease (especially since 99.9% were the same items).

You are looking at 96 packages of Hallmark tissue paper, broken down deal-wise as follows:  90 of the packages were purchased in sets of 6, to generate the $5 RR.  Actual OOP of about $2.17 (depending on tax), so a $2.80+ MM.  Last transaction was for the 6 tissue papers, 1 Herbashine and 3 of the Reach floss to bring me over the $25 threshold for a $5 Jingle Bucks RR.  Used $6 in Reach mfr coupons (10/10 rp), $6 in Wags in-ad coupon and a  free Herbashine coupon I received in the mail.  That deal total was $4.95, but I got a $5 Wags store cat and a $5 RR, so still ahead of the game.

Total OOP was approximately $37.50 (exact figures would require me to calculate all the various tax rates –  I am so not doing this) — Got back $80 in RRs and a $5 Wags cat.  Oh, and a useless box of tissue paper…. well, worst case scenario, it’s still softer than Marcal!

Make certain (if you’re going to run this MM) that you only choose the Hallmark white tissue paper; the colored doesn’t trigger the RR;  some stores are substituting Marvel brand for the Hallmark one.  Curiously, the store coupon does work on this deal, but you will not get the RR, so why bother?  Just learned that the Hallmark stickers are also triggering this RR, so go nutz!

Literally ran in and out of Wags (decided at last minute to pick up PITA at school and left with 5 minutes to spare) – got 12 more Snickers for .29 tax.  damned high tax!

Even though my 100 HC coupons haven’t yet arrived (mailed out Wed am), decided to pick up 7 for stockpile (remember – one less than limit), 3 Eagle milk (with .55/1 qs – to make up 10 items), two Ziplocs (with BOGO q) ’cause we’re out and these zoo plates for which we have no earthly use, but they’re purty.  Plus a small yogurt to use as starter for my homemade stuff.  Total OOP was $8.60 which was way high for me!  No clearance roasts (remember the use the BOGO store coupons this week).

Wags — .87 Snickers (tax)

Hey, who wouldn’t want free Snickers!?  Right now Wags has these “Nutcracker” Snickers as part of their 3/$1 promotion.  Well, guess what insert has a $2/3 coupon?  The 12/5 S!, so I’d recommend picking up 6 for each coupon and not worry about overage.  Let’s be honest, here…has there ever been a time when you complained of too many Snickers?
