Jewel — gimme my gift card! (#1)

OK, I ran the deal without any coupons at all!  I can understand why P&G doesn’t want to give us $25 when, after coupons, we’ve only paid out $15 or $20, but I was afraid that using any coupons would screw up the total, so cleared it with store mgr and CS mgr and ran up $62.82 for everything in the picture; Kimberly-Clark stuff was $26.  I rang through SCOT and when I finished the CS guy came over (probably force of habit) and when I said I wasn’t using coupons, he tottered a little.

Took my receipt over to CS and had them take off my various coupons and RRs – total OOP was $.82.  Want to know what I got?  A ham (well, of course), 12 boxes of Kleenex, 2 Scott paper towels, one box of Huggies, 2 boxes of Clementines, 2 bunches of bananas, 1 cheese bakery bread, 2 yogurts (for my home yogurt-making) and 1 MM juice.   I’ll complete my rebate form and put it in tomorrow’s mail.

$25 Jewel GC – READ! – Update

Just read on CW that apparently Kimberly Clark’s definition of “while supplies last” means that 600 gift cards would be sufficient for a promotion heavily advertised in the Jewel Spotlight and scheduled to run from December 16, 2010 through January 15, 2011. The 900+ LOSERS who did not receive a gift card will be getting a booklet with $15 worth of coupons.  I am thoroughly pissed off about this.  It does not even appear that the cards were issued in the order received (FIFO), because I know of one person who got hers but another person, whose rebate was submitted two weeks prior, did not get one.  Most of these purchases were made on some very expensive Kimberly-Clark products without the benefit of sales or coupons. This is a very big no-no: Could they possibly be using Dominicks’ marketing agency?  If you did not receive a gift card and want to pitch a hissy fit, the Kimberly-Clark number is  888-525-8388go for it…

Saw this on CW (thanks to OP), so thought I’d post for those of you who want to try it.  It appeared in Spanish ads and is targeted to Hispanic families.  ¡Pero me gusta todo el dinero!

Terms:
Purchases must be made between 12/16/2010 and 1/15/2011. Request must be postmarked by 1/15/2011 and received no later than 1/30/2011. Limit one (1) per individual, family or valid street address. Group requests void. Only U.S. street addresses accepted, no PO boxes. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing. Requests for fulfillment to PO boxes will not be accepted. Requests that in Kimberly-Clarks sole discretion do not comply with terms & conditions of offer, including mechanically reproduced requests, fraudulent, illegible, incomplete or inaccurate requests are invalid.  Void where prohibited.

Wording is rather odd…$25 after coupons, etc.?  My suggestion is to buy your stuff separately from the rest of your order, then walk back to customer service desk and hand over your coupons and RRs.  Your receipt will still be an original and any marks made by CS shouldn’t affect your rebate (make sure your circle your items and prices with a marker so it stands out).

There are very few coupons out there (except for Kleenex and Cottonelle – so you know what I’m loading up on), but 100% return on your investment isn’t too shabby.  Don’t wait too long, because it’s while supplies last…

Jewel and Wags

Decided to head back to Jewel and pick up some hummus and “stuff” to get up to the $20 for the $9 ham store coupon.  Here you see: 10 Tribe Origins (the expensive one!) hummus ($1 pdf); 1 Lunchables (from Target site – yes, it worked and I apologize Rachel); 1 MinuteMaid juice thingie (Free cat the PITA found); 2 8 o’clock coffee (2 wts) and a big ole ham ($9 Jewel coupon).  Total was 6.73 so I used a $4 Wags RR to get down to $2.73.

Cross the street to Wags to use up one of the store RRs.  Picked up 6 of the Bic BOGO razors ($2/1 12/12 s); 2 CoffeeMate ($1.50 printables); 2 AA and 2 AAA Duracell ($1.50/1  12/12 rp); Revlon fast dry polish ($1 Wags coupon) and ActivOn arthritis pain reliever (for old guy).  Used one $5 store RR, 1 $4 RR and 1 $5 RR and ended up paying a couple of buck OOP (I can’t believe I actually lost a receipt).  Got back $5 store RR plus an $8 RR for the ActivOn and a $5 for the Revlon.

Ronzoni Garden Delight Update

When I picked up the Ronzoni pasta from my small Jewel, I had no idea that I was doing anything unusual – then I started checking out other forums and reading emails from people who have been unable to locate any at their Jewels.  I called a large 24 hr store (certain that they would have it), also nothing.  This picture is of the two types on the 10/$10 deal.

So, please take a moment to post where you have found or didn’t find the Garden Delight.  If you can’t find it you have two options:  1) place a special order, since it’s available in the Jewel warehouse or 2) go to the Lisle Jewel on Rte 53, where they stock it and love  couponers.

Frolicking detour

Yes, I finally got dressed and left the house – call the newspapers…  Picked up 3 boxes of Fannie May – lots of people, some even buying without coupons!  yes, i was in shock the first time i heard that, but after a while i adjusted.  Some people buying chocolate bars to get to $10 and then out the door.  That’s fine, but since free candy bars aren’t that hard to come by, I’d rather spend a couple of extra bucks and get a few 1/2 pound boxes of favs:  pixies, sugar-free meltaways (for MIL) and a pound of chocolate walnut fudge (what…where did that come from?).   So I pay a couple of bucks for each separate transaction; to me it’s worth it.

Headed over to PetSmart and picked up four of the Greenies.  Used two BOGOs and two PetSmart FREE coupons for 4 free ones.   Then back home to put together 3 pizzas using the free CC pizza crust (in the freezer from that wonderful Jewel bakery pdf coupon) using free Kraft cheese.  Pizza and good chocolate – does life get any better than this?

Free for Me! part 2

Here’s a very nice BOGO coupon for Kellogg’s Special K cereals.  While it doesn’t work (as far as I can see from the ad) for this week’s cereal sale, this should work out nicely between now and the exp date (one month from print).  You do have to register, as this is a Kellogg’s site (prints through Bricks, so print, back, print) …  Thanks to Totally Target.

Just saw on CW that Tribe hummus is on sale for 10/$10 and here is another holiday gift to you…a $1/1 pdf  Tribe coupon can we say the gift that keeps on giving?

Jewel Avenue is baaaack

Yup, the Avenue program is back up and running smoothly.  Unfortunately it’s not running anything I can stack with coupons this upcoming week:  every card has great discounts on PF Chang and Häagen-Dazs.  Häagen-Dazs is on sale 2/$6 starting Thursday; with a $2.50 Avenue discount, you’re looking at .50/pint.  There are no insert coupons, but check your cat and tearpad collection.  See if there’s potential gold in them thar cards.

Jewel – bye, bye HC mixers

Trotted out in the frigid air to get the final deal of the Avenue week.  Here’s the breakdown:  8 HC mixers; 2 Pam sprays; 2 Swiss Miss, used 8 HC coupons, 2 $1 Pam coupons from the Dom’s book, 2 $1 Swiss Miss coupons from Dom’s book to bring me down to $10.28…WTF?  The $5 instant came off, but the $1 HC Avenue discount did not.  I knew that the Avenue site had been down since last night (figured it was WikiLeaks supporters).

Good news is I brought yesterday’s receipt with me so they could see the discount I should have had – bad news was explaining why I was using a Dominicks card … ouch

Jiggity jiggity home

Today was a slow day for shopping, a nice day for gabbing:  my delivery of the desktop aquarium giveaway turned into 2 1/2 hours of couponspeak.  We met at a 24 hr. Dominicks Starbucks cafe area.  A very nice change of pace.  Afterward we strolled up to customer service to ask about any orphan Thanksgiving Day coupon booklets.  Score! The lady opened a fresh carton of books and handed us each 2 of them, so even though the holiday is over, ask at CS if you don’t see any books.  You’ve got nothing to lose but your dignity (but then you knew that going in)…

I stopped at CVS to pick up the Sierra Mist and Bliss bars.  Remember, I called over there last night to confirm that 1) they were on sale as part of the 2/$1 sale and 2) they had plenty in stock.  Well, I hunt all over and can’t seem to locate any Bliss bars.  I ask the cashier, who points to the Dove bars…ah, no, those aren’t Bliss.  He says “Aren’t they the same?”  Well, bucky, if you want to give ’em to me for the sale price and take my coupon, I’ll bite.  Sadly, no.  If anyone has seen these Bliss bars recently in their CVS and can ask if they are on sale, please comment.  I’m not that desperate for chocolate (hello, Snickers) that I’m going to drive or call the various CVS stores.  I’ll return tomorrow to pick up the batteries, Olay, etc., but today, just wanted OUT!

Better luck at Jewel.  My coupons came in today (five days, what’re they doing?  going back to pony express?), so sorted all my receipts, stapled the appropriate coupons and headed out to pick up some more HC mixers and Eagle milk.  I had read on CW that certain varieties of the Ronzoni Garden Delight pasta were on sale for 10/$10 .  Well, the 10/03 S insert just happens to have a $1/1 Garden Delight pasta.  woot!  woot!  Note that the rotini is not part of the sale, although they are all together on the shelf.

So my OOP for 14 boxes of pasta, 7 HC mixers and 3 Eagle milk?  Just under 5 bucks, but remember that I still have to return with the $1.65 in Eagle coupons when I get them.  So actually less than $3.50.

Jewel

A sad day, only one card left with HC mixers!  And only a buck!  I’d light a candle in church but 1) it wouldn’t do any good, 2) don’t do church, which leads to  3) why waste a perfectly good candle?

Got a message that the Lisle Jewel (not sure about others) had split chicken breasts for .99/lb.  Combine this with the current BOGO promotion and you’re looking at .50/lb for chicken breasts, definitely a stock-up price to me.  They had already run out, but substituted and repriced four packages for me.  That’s something everyone should be doing.  If you don’t see an item, ask for it:  if it’s sold out or otherwise unavailable, ask if they’ll substitute something of equal value.   Note that phrase because even I know not to ask for filet mignon when you’re trying to score cheap round steak.  I picked up 2 cases of the Clementines because we need to eat more fruit and, frankly, I’m tired of monkey breath.

I’ve stopped waiting around for the pan stickers and will get them when I redeem my coupons.  PITA scored 7 from someone who didn’t want them.  Go, PITA!

Total OOP was $32.85, a lot I know!  I’ll be getting back $7 for the HC coupons and $1.65 for the Eagle coupons.  I used BOGO chicken coupons, BOGO coupons on the clearance meat and a $5 Stockman & Dakota coupon when you spend at least $25 (pre-coupon).
