Amazon’s Daily/Hourly Deals

Amazon seems to have put out some very bizarre items today for their deals of the day:  Cymbals?  OK, maybe these are great prices for the Sabian brand, but really!  A whole day of cymbals?

Well, if you need/want them (or sometimes confuse the two), go for it.  I’ll be back at Jewel checking on the chicken and stuff.

Jewel tonight $4.87

Thought I’d fly in – fly out with my veggies and Purdue chicken:  it was not to be…  First, they were completely sold out of Purdue chicken breasts, so I had the option of a rain check or Jewel brand.  Chose Jewel brand, but they still honored the $2 Jewel chicken and the 2 $.75 Purdue mfr coupons.  Which was great.  Then had a hard time locating the Bisquik add water mix.  They moved them all to an end cap.  Probably just to mess with me.  Then when I checked out the cat machine jammed.  Luckily I knew the amount of the catalina and they know me, so gave it to me in cash.  Cash works (especially since I have so many of the $3 Aquapods to use up already).  So, to recap:  Total after coupons and $5 GM instant savings was $7.87.  Honestly, the cs guy was shocked, saying something to the effect that that’s a lot of money for me to spend.  I used two of the $3 aquapod cats and cash.  Since I got back $3 in cash, I suppose I should subtract that amount.

So, 4 1/2 lbs of chicken breasts, 9 packages of GG frozen vegetables (and yes we like brussels sprouts and spinach) and  one incredibly small container of Bisquik.  Total OOP $4.87

Oh, got another pots stamp – up to 24 now.

Slloowww Saturday

Cruddy rainy day.  Depressing garage sales.  Oh, right, and our semi-annual dentist visit.  Life just gets better and better.  Since I’ll be out of the picture most of today, I’ll just tell you to play the Sobe game, since the contest ends on 9/14 (and the BOGO at CVS ends today) and pick up a bunch of newspapers at Dollar Tree (among other dollar stores) while you’re out and about, since there will be a bunch of good inserts/coupons.  I’ll probably pick up some GG frozen veggies later on, since it’s a pretty good deal and we can always add more vegetables to our diet.

Snapple rebates

Once again, don’t forget to check CVS (among other stores) for the refund of the full purchase price of a 6-pk of Snapple.  I picked up 5 of them and used my cats from the Aquapod catalina, so how can you calculate what you paid?  The price of the stamps? Each rebate check should be for the $6.98; at least I’m hoping that this is the amount…

Novella sweetener clearance

Just got a call from Geri who says that Jewel is clearancing out all the Novella sweeteners, both the 100 and 200 packet boxes.  Check around, since the prices vary depending on when each Jewel put them on clearance, going from $1.49 to $2.99 for the 100 count box and $5.49(!) for the 200 count box.  Big deal, you may say, and you would be right.  Except……there’s a $2 coupon in the 7/11 RP.  Now do you see the light?  Free or greatly reduced sweetener.

This sweetener claims to be probiotic!? Puhleeze.  If this is not the new marketing bandwagon to jump on, I’ll go back to cyclamates.   But if it gives me free stuff, I’m all for it.

The deals are ending, the deals are ending

Racing around to get the last of the weekly deals…Picked up 13 packages of turkey bacon and a jar of hot giardiniera from Butera to use up the penny overage; OOP was $2.63

Next off to Jewel to get more hot dogs and Kraft cheese.  Also redeemed my raincheck for 60 of the Aquapods.   So the hot dogs and cheese cost me taxes and earned me 5 more stamps.  Aquapods were $1.07 each transaction, get back $3.  While I could have run it for free (without any OOP), I chose to make it a MM.  I did 15 transactions ($45) for which I spent $16.05.  I’m happy, although it’s safe to say my husband is less than thrilled.

Last day of Kraft cats Wednesday!

Don’t forget, the great Kraft deals end tomorrow.  Scroll down to the posts with links for Kraft cheese, Crystal Light and OM hot dogs – Cool Whip requires no coupons. Remember that these deals work when you buy in multiples of five, no more no less, so do multiple transactions.  It’s fast and easy and cheese and hot dogs freeze beautifully.

Update on my Cool Whip coffee creamer….well, if you leave it out and then nuke it it reduces the volume considerably.  When it’s refrigerated it becomes rather like Coffee Mate.  So my take on it?  It’s free, dammit!  Honestly, it makes the coffee taste like cappuccino, which is not a bad thing.

Jewel Redux OOP $3.22

Started thinking about the Ice Mountain deal and how the price was probably going to switch tomorrow morning early, so decided to head out one more time.  I picked up 4 more waters, 3 hot dogs, 2 Crystal Lights (also part of the $5/5 Kraft deal) and about 10 pounds of bananas since Jewel was having a two-day sale  for .38/lb.  The Crystal Light is on sale for $1.79, so with a $1 coupon and $1 from the catalina, it’s a .21 MM.

So now I’m up to 18 of the pots stickers.  Some people on other sites have already picked up 3 and 4 pans already; oh, well, the tortoise will eventually get them.

My husband says that I should clear off the table ’cause my junk is all over.  So in case you didn’t know peeps, I am a slob.

Jewel dealios

I ran this with only the hot dog coupons; I’ll go back later this week with my receipt and coupons and get cash back and two pots stamps, which I also forgot to pick up.  That’s the nice thing about Jewel, if you see something you want/need, you can buy it and come back another time with the coupons.  The Ice Mountain Aquapods are still ringing at $1, so buy four, use two $1.50/2 coupons (8/29 RP) and a $3 catalina prints out.  You are now making $2 for every four  you buy.  The hot dog buns are .88 each, but bet your boots they’ll be $1.49 or higher in a couple of days, so stock up.  The OM hot dogs are still $2, so buy five, use 5 $1 coupons and get a $5 cat back.  This deal ran me $11.05, which includes a $5 cat from a prior transaction.  Note I didn’t buy Cool Whip!  Got another $5 cat for the hot dogs and $3 for the Aquapods.  Subtract $4 and you’re at $7.05 for 3 Melitta coffee filters (no coupons available) and 3 hot dog buns.  Unfortunately, some times you have to actually pay for food.  sux

UPDATE:  I actually got FOUR hot dog buns, which explains why I had to fork over so much money!

Cool Whip as creamer

This may not turn out like I had planned, OK?  In the first place, it doesn’t turn to liquid at room temperature.   so i nuked it! Nuking reduces the volume considerably, but you still have to stir it around to get out the air.  This stuff can’t be good for you (which doesn’t mean that I’ll stop using it, though).  So, now I’ve nuked two containers, stirred it down and added it to my coffee – not sweet enough!  Hmmm, must return to lab…

Although I would love to see my recycling guy’s face (and read his thoughts) when he sees 30 CC pizza boxes, tons of Sobe bottles and 15 empty Cool Whip containers.  Party on!

One other thing…I’ve gotten comments about the juxtaposition of the dog butts in the header with the OM Weinermobile post.  Which means there are people even sicker than me… who knew?
