Restaurant.com Weekly Promo Banner 120x90

So far a slow day…will head out to Wags in a bit ’cause I read about a possible killer deal.  We’ll see.  Also some great stuff on a Con Agra catalina deal at Jewel.  I like to stock up on the free Wesson oil once a year.  Get lots and we’re set.  One year I got what I needed, then suddenly family and friends all needed some.  I ran out!

To tide you over, here’s a little promo from restaurant.com with 80% codes.  They say that so many certificates were sold over the two-day sale that people “saved” $11,373,450!  I do hope that you all use the certificates you purchased.  And in case you’ve now tried them and want to buy more as holiday gifts (and hostess presents)…

Jewel – hey we’re back home!

Finally, a reason to return to Jewel!  After a few months of practically sleeping on a cot in the back, I’ve been in only a few times.  Today that changed.  Since I was in a hurry and needed to burn a few expiring cats (10/6), I picked up everything in the picture and spent…well, I’ll detail it out for you.

First transaction was for 7 OR popcorn.  The shelf tag reads $3.59, but the Preferred Card price is $1.69, so we’re looking at 7 total to get to Skippy’s Magic Number, which for this promotion is $25.  Actually, this gets us to $25.13, which is really cutting it close.  The actual cost works out to be $11.83, and you then get a $10 OYNO cat.  I added 2 Mrs. T Pierogi ($3.45 BOGO) and a small Soft Soap.  The Soft Soap was a substitute for the 10/$10 soap oddity sale which is not carried by my Jewel.  I had a store coupon cat for $1 off a personal care item, so this was my boy!  I picked up 6 more of the sale creamers and used 3 $1 coupons.  Total for this transaction was $15.63, so I used 3 of the $5 Wags RRs from the Nutrisse deal and paid out $1.63 in cash.  Got the $10 cat, but forgot my pot stamps.  I’ll get all stamps next time I’m in.

Next transaction was for 7 more OR popcorn and 2 more Mrs. T Pierogi.  Total was $13.64 (which really freaked out the cs person, who couldn’t believe my total could be so high!), but I used 4 of the $3 Aquapod cats and ended up at $1.64.  Got the $10 cat, but forgot the pot stamp.

I saw Jill Cataldo’s post this morning about a vitamin freebie at Jewel.  Clicked on the link and discovered that this is not a regular manufacturer coupon with a set limit.  This is a fantastical unlimited print $4 coupon for the adult gummy vitamins (70 ct) on sale for $3.99.  You know what that means!  FREE vitamins for the next year.  While I’ve never tasted this brand, so far I’ve never met a gummy vitamin I didn’t like.  You can healthify yourself into a diabetic coma eating these things.  I placed a special order for 48 of them at the $3.99 price so I’ll keep picking them up week after week as they dribble in.  Did the same thing with the MotrinPM (150 special order for free) a couple of months ago and the Scotch Brite scrubbing sponges (another couple of hundred – and no they weren’t all for me:  I’m not that clean.)

Jewel

Since I was running late, I stopped at Jewel for the BOGO Mrs. T Pierogis for a quick dinner; thought I’d try the feta/spinach/potato variety.  Sauteed with a couple of yellow onions and my free “buttery spread,”  they were a huge hit.  Cooked up all four boxes, so we may end up with a few leftovers – possibly.  I used four $1/1 coupons (limit 2 per computer) so my $7.10 subtotal dropped to $3.  Not too bad for a few meals.

March of the Creamers

While I adore the smell of coffee brewing, I only like the stuff when it’s loaded with everything to mask the taste.  Since I’ve finished my Cool Whip/experimental beverage supply, I’ve been forced to use plain ole milk (well, at least the milk is free).  Jewel has the International Delight coffee creamers on sale for .99 for the pints.  I’d only purchased one in the past and it was a yuck, probably because it was one of those sugar-free ones with no body – but it was cheap on clearance at Dominicks, so…..

Anyway, this Sunday’s SS had two coupons for International Delights – $1/2 pints and $1/2 quarts.  Get as many as you have coupons for and you’re set.  Shelf tag says deal goes through 10/10.  In my case, my total came to slightly over $7 after mfr coupons, and I used two of the $3 Aquapod cats, to bring my actual OOP down to $1.10.

Oh, and I got another pot stamp…

Peter Pan PB clearance -UPDATE

According to the Jewel asst mgr, all Jewels are clearancing the Peter Pan peanut butter.  They will only be carrying the creamy type, no others, so make sure to check your local Jewels for some great deals.  These reduced fat ones had exp. dates in 2011. I did notice that they had lots of space in the PB section for their new Shoppers Value line.  nice top shelf location, too.

Another clearance, this one on the Osco side, involves Rimmel mascara (actually my favorite).  A big box full of various types of their mascara, with bonus eyeliner pencils, marked down to $1.99. Well, hello sailor, but there are 2 $1/1 coupons in 8/1 RP (1st insert).

The Lisle Jewel on Rte 53 had a clearance rack in the back with Peter Pan peanut butter.  The reduced fat ones were marked down to .50 each, with other varieties slightly more.  I like free probably more than the next guy, but if you want/need some right now check your local store.  Unfortunately, I can find no insert or printables on this (it’s a Con Agra product, so you’d think there’d be something), except for home mailers.  HCW claims that there’s a q in the August issue of AY, but I checked three issues around that month and nada.  Either I’m blind or they pulled another one of those switcheroos with different coupons in the mailed subscriptions, take your pick.

so, again with the detergent?

Who needs so much laundry detergent?   Actually, a friend who has a puppy place, that’s who.  She doesn’t have the luxury of waiting on deals – puppies pee on their own timetable.

Soooooo, here’s today’s dealio: 5 Wisk, 3 Coke products, 2 boxes Cheez-its.  $8.70 after mfr coupons and instant $5 savings, then tossed in 2 of the $3 Aquapod cats. Actual OOP was $3.70. Damned high tax!

Jewel 10 get $5 off

It works!  I picked up 3 Wisk, 1 Sobe, 1 Mr. Pibb and five Ore-Ida seasoned tater tots.  Used 3 of the $3/1 Wisk coupons, 1 Free Sobe coupon, 1 $3 mixer wt and 5 salty snack wts (well, I eat tater tots as snacks, got a problem with that?).  Also picked up 6 of the Ken’s salad dressing to use up both my rain check and coupons.  Total after all the regular coupons was $7.83, so I used 2 of the $3 Aquapod catalinas and my OOP came to $1.83.  Oh, and a lady pushing the Daily Herald tried to interest me in their week-end coupons. it is to laugh.

Got another 4 pots stickers; now I’m up to 32, for which I paid, what, a tenner?

Jewel 9/23 – update 1

Deals as they come in…

If any of you have (or are even aware of) wine tags, there are quite a few $2 ones for salty snacks.  This could line up quite nicely with the Keebler cookies, Cheez-Its and Synder’s Pretzels or the Planters Peanuts selection or even on the Ore-Ida potatoes (well, they’re seasoned, aren’t they?).  I would always throw in one Wisk with the coupon to bring you up to the ten mark.

Wisk is part of this buy 10 items get .50 off each.  I think it’s really, really stupid, because they’re taking the same amount off any item.  Well, here goes:  If you need laundry detergent (and we’re talking a lot here) a Wisk only deal with be $4.99 x 10 = $49.90 less $5.  However, let’s clip out some money-savers.  In the 8/29 RP there is a $3/1 coupon (exp. 9/26), so take off another $30 for that (well I have 10 inserts, why don’t you?).  You are then at $1.49 for each.  The upside is that you will get 4 pots stamps, the down side is that nobody should have to do this much laundry.  I’ll figure out some other scenarios that will make more sense for most people.

Hey, Sobe’s part of this deal, so use your freebies or BOGOs to bring the cost down and still get the stamps.  I have $1/2 Sobe coupons from a tearpad, so use 4 (for eight Sobe) and a free Sobe coupon (from that stupid game) and 1 Wisk (with $3/1q)  Total will be less than two bucks.  I’ll try this on Thursday morning and see how it plays out.

Aquapods, we heart u

Gaze up my PITA standing in front of 100 (yes, you read correctly) 8-pks of Aquapods.  We had a raincheck for 100 and placed a special order for them.  Total OOP was $26.75 and cats received was $75.  Oh, and we gots us lots of water…

A heads up here, peeps.  I just read on CW that Ultra is supposed to have the Aquapods on sale next week for .88.  Holy Fuckmonkeys that’s cheap.  Whether or not it’s a good sale depends on 1) whether they have any in stock and 2) what their limit (if any) is.

Jewel today

Slow day for shopping…stopped off at Jewel a short while ago to pick up the Purdue chicken.  I took 2 of those big oven roaster chickens, which were BOGO, but also had a sign with a budget buy of $1.49/lb.  Turns out that the oven stuffed roasters weren’t the ones at that price, even though they were the only ones there and filled the entire section marked with the $1.49 price.  so they gave them to me at that price.  (Actually, cs was very nice about it.  I never have to ask about stuff, they just suggest it.)  Next transaction was for 2 packages of Purdue chicken breasts, 9 boxes of GG veggies and one puny Bisquick mix.

First transaction was $10.02, but since I didn’t have two of my $1 coupons, I’ll stop by another time and get my cashola.  Total should have been $8.02.  Second transaction (whole roasters) was $7.45.

I used some of my catalinas from the Aquapods deal to bring down the totals to basically, a buck.
