Walgreens for .44 + high tax

photo.JPGThe Duracell batteries are $4.99 this week and you earn 3,000 points with each pack, the Listerine is $4.99 with a $4 RR. I used the mini-highlighters at 8/$1 with in-ad store coupon as fillers. Used five 75¢ Duracell coupons from the 7/07 P&G insert, three $7 RRs from the kinesiology tape last week (which were paid for mostly with points)  and a $5/$20 store cat (I have a lot of those puppies!).

Subtotal was 44¢ and high tax was $1.83.  Earned 15,000 points and a $4 RR.  I’m pleased.

Walmart & Walgreens

Was able to score a few more Clairol $5/2 coupons, so trotted over to Walmart for a price match. No sense driving around to different CVS stores, hoping to find stock, right? So now the HE shampoo and conditioner stockpile has recovered and all will be fine, the good lord willin’ and the crick don’t rise…again.

If your first thought upon seeing this picture is “who would buy so much kinesiology tape?” then you’re obviously new to this site!  PITA has scoliosis and the medical professionals, operating under the “If you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail” premise, have advised surgery and a back brace for a few years now.

Fie! says the Goddess!  And fie again!  About a year ago we (read: mother) started taking PITA to the chiropractic college in Lombard for originally twice a week, but now once a week sessions of physical therapy, stretching and taping.  The difference has been huge:  She stands tall and doesn’t slouch.  So each week they tape her front and back to let her feel when she starts to slouch.  It doesn’t stop her from slouching, mind you, but if you feel a slight pull, then you’re not standing correctly.

We’ve purchased the original kinesoilogy tape, knock-offs, vivid colors – you name it.  If the tape holds for two days (of long showers and baths) it’s considered a success.  Imagine my shock when this tape stays on day after day after day.  It’s still intact and it’s Saturday evening – it was applied Monday afternoon.  So yes, not only will I stock up because it works, but it works and it’s free.  And I got another TON of those $5/$20 store cats for Sunday and Monday.  There must be something I can buy!

working the Kaiser…

While it’s been getting progressively harder to find inventory on roll items at Walgreens, persevere!!  I just got back with six re-nu, four Durex lubes, 12 rolls of paper towels, lots of packs of gum, a big candy bar (shut up), a few Starbucks Refreshers for the $1 RR even though I still have about 100 in the basement and two Simply Lemonade.  I used, obviously, $2 coupons on all the re-nu, $8 RRs from the Durex (run in separate transactions and used points plus gum to hit the 10,000 points mark for each) and the 75¢ printables for the lemonade (no longer available).  Ended up paying about a quarter and almost $5 in high tax.  The re-nu coupon is still available, so print and hit up your own local Walgreens to earn some points (5,000 for each bottle).  It’s nice that you can lump them all together in one transaction and the points will stack.

FREE 8×10 collage @ Walgreens – today only

The latest collage deal at Walgreens is a one-day only freebie.   Use code 8x10GH at checkout, choose store pick up and your 8×10 collage will be totally free.  And while you’re there, look for some re-nu and lube to roll.  Just tested this and it’s good.

’cause free is good.

Chapstick & lube – the shopping trip you don’t write home about

photo.JPGNot going to even bother with the pictures – suffice to say that I was all prepared for serious overage at Jewel with the Chapstick $1.50 peelie and nimble fingers:  But it was not to be.  The coupon beeped and said something along the lines of coupon value more than item.  Cashier hit okay and the coupon rang at $1.  Since this is an über-friendly store, coupon-wise, I would not recommend running this in the hopes of getting anything more than free Chapstick.

I had more luck at Walgreens with the $7.99 Durex lube.  Since I wanted to pay with points and the next threshold was 10,000, I needed a few items per transaction to close the $2 gap.   I picked up lots more toilet paper and paper towels, a gallon of milk and a candy bar (I was hungry, okay?  And it was the Cadbury fruit & nut bar – so almost a health food!).  Haven’t seen any re-nu since Saturday, but will check around later in the week after the stores are resupplied. Luckily I can run all the solution in one transaction.

edit: Wags tonight & bye-bye fuel rewards

photo.JPGQuick post and then off to fill up for the last time at Shell, since I have 80¢ in expiring fuel rewards.  Next fill up will probably be Speedway, where I can use my points for a 50¢ off a gallon reward.

Even after all my purchases of Fekkai yesterday, I still have 151,000 points!  So when I bought two Simply Lemonade and one durex lube, I used 10,000 points, paid 34¢ and got back an $8 RR.  Tomorrow I’ll find a re-nu stocked Walgreens and roll me some products.

re-nu contact lens solution – hehehehehe

photo.JPG

I took the loyalty points and purchased two sets of Fekkai products, each totaling slightly over $50, which I will submit for a $20 pre-paid Citi Bank card. Outrageously overpriced, but damned good, so why not pick it up on the cheap?  Thank you Walgreens.

Walgreens 6/30 – what looks good?

Couple of rolling scenarios, which obviously depend on stores getting more than one or two sale items on the truck…

I like the roll between points and RRs for the bausch & lomb re-nu contact lens solution and Durex massage & play aloe vera lubricant, both at $7.99.  Start off with the Durex using points to buy (why put out cash?) or an old RR you have hanging around from prior weeks.  Take that $7.99 RR and roll into the re-nu, also at $7.99.  Since there’s a $2 re-nu coupon, you’ll need a few fillers.  Lots here, including Starbucks Refreshers at $1 with a $1 RR, eggs, Butterball turkey bacon (there’s a $1 coupon but you have to do the like thing), Sunny Smile toilet paper… $2 is a very nice cushion.
