$5/$20 Walgreens store cats aka the bane of my existence

photo.JPGListen, I had zero intention of shopping at Walgreens any more this week, but then PITA “found” one of those $5/$20 store cats. There’s no way I can turn down a $5 bill (and that’s just the way I look upon it).

Picked up four Pharzyme ($5.29), two Colgate and two Crest Pro-Health plus a clearance pack of Extra gum @ $1.09.  Used four $2 Phazyme coupons, the $3 Phazyme IVC (which takes off $3 from each), two Colgate $2 coupons and one $7 RR.   Total came to $1.45 and I got back a $4 RR from the Crest and 2,000 points from the Colgate.

Walgreens Beauty Sample Box arrives

So I have no idea where or when I signed up for this thing; if anyone has an idea, please speak up!  All I know is PITA brought in the mail and handed me a box from Walgreens. This is what was inside, along with some very nice store coupons in the booklet (I love these ’cause you stack them with the high-value mfr coupons to get to a more realistic price).

Walgreens Friends & Family Sale Wednesday

If you’ve been unable to locate those single-page coupon sheets that show the F&F sale running through July 9th, you’ll still be able to get your discounts this week.  Regarding that single-page of coupons, no one at corporate seemed to know anything about it!  Other store managers felt that it might be limited to certain geographical areas, although there was no mention of that anywhere.  I give up and toss you this bone instead:

Tomorrow is another Friends & Family Sale day at Walgreens, where you get 15% off all in-store and online purchases of brand name items and 20% off Walgreens private label items.  Use FAMILY15 to get your online discount.  Spend $25 for FREE SHIPPING.  Click here to get to the Wags landing page to print out the coupon(s).

Walgreens for OTC and soap (cheapsies, not freebies)

photo.JPGNot a money-maker, but if these are products that your family uses and/or can’t live without, pick them up at Walgreens this week on the cheap:

PhaZyme gas relief is $5.29 (!) a box.  Stack the $3 IVC in the June booklet with the $2 mfr coupon in the 6/2 S.  You’ll pay 29¢ and low tax.

Lever 2000 bar soaps are $2.99 BOGO this week – and these are the twin-packs.  Use two $1 IPs from the Lever site and you’ll pay 99¢ for four bars, or 25¢ each.

Walgreens, where I find more RR items…

photo.JPG

Found a few more RR items at Walgreens, so added them to the stockpile.  Left a couple on the shelf, but let’s face it:  Nobody buys this stuff when it’s not a Register Reward promotion…

Walgreens 6/23-

Couple of freebies and a decent filler item, but nothing we haven’t seen in the very recent past at better prices.  I’d say it’s a pretty ho-hum week, unless and until something unexpected jumps out at us (like a high-value IP or glitch somewhere).

Mitchum deodorant is $2/$6, get $4 RR.  Use two of the $1 coupons from 6/2 S.

Colgate toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouthwash is 2/$6 with 2,000 points when you buy two.  Use the $2 coupons for mouthwash from 6/2 S; there are buck coupons in the same ad for toothpaste and toothbrushes, but I’d rather pay less for the stupid points…

You could buy the two items above using the $10 Fiber Smart RR from this week’s deal ($6 less $2 = $4 & $6 less $4 = $2) with fillers (Butterball chicken broth is 50¢ with in-ad coupon).

Friends & Family Day this Wednesday, June 26th

If you’ve been unable to locate those single-page coupon sheets that show the F&F sale running through July 9th, you’ll still be able to get your discounts this week.  Wednesday, June 26th, is another of those Friends & Family Sale days at Walgreens, where you get 15% off all in-store and online purchases of brand name items and 20% off Walgreens private label items.  Use FAMILY15 to get your online discount.  Spend $25 for FREE SHIPPING.  Click here to get to the Wags landing page to print out the coupon(s).

Dominicks for more water?

photo.JPG

Along the way I hit up a few more Walgreens, looking for ground flaxmeal:  Not one Walgreens I’ve visited has had any stock. A few didn’t even have shelf tags for them. Given the classic Walgreens scenario over the past five years, my guess is that the stuff was selling so well the warehouse decided to stop shipping stock and then corporate will discontinue it. ’cause it’s a twofer with them, dontchaknow…

Since I was passing a Dominicks anyway, stopped in to check out the Ice Mountain supply.  Took the only 28 bottles they had…then got lured into the bakery black hole where I was forced to buy a clamshell of plain croissants and a loaf of cinnamon bread.  Large displays in front for Arm & Hammer cat litter for $5, with $2 peelies on ’em.  Since FirstBorn had just informed me that the cat needed more litter, I figured that this was a sign from the goddess of cheap (I am only her high priestess).  They also had carts of ice cream pints near self-check, being marked for clearance.  Obviously they had no Cherry Garcia or you would have seen that in the picture, too.  Ended up spending $13.72 – stupid cat!

went shopping – almost spent money!

My first stop was to Jewel to pick up a few $1 Challenge butter coupons.  This has been going on sale for $2.50 at Jewel; it’s a good butter, especially for $1.50!  Exp. is 8/30, so plenty of time to hold for a sale.

Next stop was Walgreens, where I was looking for the ground flaxseed.  Something we actually use and I’ve now been to three stores with nary a pouch.  But there’s lots more Wags around…

This is a picture of the duck tape clearance at one of the Walgreens – the 75th Street store in Woodridge.  New manager is our old friend from Wheaton, Steve!  At least you know they’ll have RR products in stock!

Stopped at the Dominicks on 63rd to check out the Ice Mountain.  No signs, nothing in the ad, but I’d read that it was actually on sale for 2/$1.   I had them scan a bottle to confirm, then loaded up a cart.  I’ll come back when they get another truckload, since I have those beautiful $1/2 coupons from 6/16 rp.  Free water – in bottles (the only free kind I want to see, thankyouverymuch).

While there, I checked the freezers for $1 Frutare coupons – there they were in a little ole blinkie! I took a few and drove over to Ultra, where they are $3.50, unless you buy four, when they magically drop to $1.88 each. So my four boxes, less 5¢ for bringing my own bag, came to $3.60.  The mango bars are awesome!  Puny, but awesome!  Can’t wait to try the banana and milk one.

Since I was hitting up Walgreens stores anyway, decided to pick up a few more of the roll deals (as pictured).  I’m tired of cleaning products, so picked up a few Campbell’s pouch soups – had the coconut curry one a few months ago and it was super.  One side of the roll was 12¢ – other was 45¢.
