Burning some ecbs @ CVS

Photo.jpg

Had a $10 ecb expiring today – honestly, if I’d had another week I would have waited. CVS has gone from 60 to 0 in a matter of months and if you’re a bottom -feeder like me, limit one on a marginally-decent deal just won’t cut it.  Took 8 of the Visine as part of the Spend $30 get $10 ecbs back.  Why Visine?  They’re B1G1 50% off and with the $3/2 coupon from 4/13 S, I got the biggest bang for my buck.  After coupons and $10 ecb, I paid $13.02 and got back a $10 ecb.  And another month to hope..

Sunday shopping – all food groups included

Photo.jpgPhoto.jpg

First stop was CVS where I’d heard the little $1.19 tubes of Eucerin were working on the “Buy 2 get $5 ecb” promotion.  Both the $1.19 body tube and the $2.99 face lotion produced the $5 ecb.  If you’re at all interested in this deal, I wouldn’t put it off.

Photo.jpg Next stop was Staples.  Then I remembered that they don’t open until noon on Sunday and it wasn’t worth sitting in their parking lot for 15 minutes…so on to Target, where the Target ad (and signs all over the shelves) says Buy $40 in pet foods, etc. (but not treats) and get $10 off. So the best deals (price plus coupon value) I could come up with were these $2.00 off one Purina ONE beyOnd dog food and $2.00 off one Purina ONE beyOnd cat food.  Since Target has the limit four identical coupons policy, I used four dog and two cat food coupons and stacked the six bags with the $10 Target coupon, then paid with my REDcard.  I think the dog food was $6.89 and the cat food slightly more.  Wanted to grab some free Vidal Sassoon shampoo using the Family Dollar ad, but Target only carried the jumbo sizes.  However, I was able to score a few of these $1 Target coupon for L’Oreal products that don’t expire until 12/31/14.

Then on to Walmart where I price matched the Vidal Sassoon shampoo/conditioner with the Family Dollar ad for $2, then used the $2 coupons from the March P&G.  Since P&G has that stupid Limit 4 per household per day wording, you’ll either have to stop at both WM and Family Dollar all week or work it out some other way, depending on how many hundreds of coupons you might have…

Next up was PetSmart, but only for PurinaPro ’cause those $8 printables were expiring in a couple of days and I was able to use a 10% off coupon with them.  Do I need more pet food?  Heck no, but the dates are into 2015 and they’re sealed in heavy plastic.  Still ended up spending about $50 for 8 bags.  Boo!

Back to Staples where I was told that not only was the Naperville store out of the 5-ream cases of Staples brand copy paper, two other local stores were, too! Hey, guys, I’m sorry I’ve been stocking up so hard and heavy (not really). Will stop back later in the week.

Staples is giving us a free ream of HammerMill® paper this week plus a 5-ream case of Staples copy paper.  Print either or both

The HammerMill coupon restricts you to one ream, while the Staples 5-ream case coupon allows the purchase of two – print out TWO coupons for the Staples paper.

extremely cheap dog treats @ CVS

Photo.jpg

Read about this hours ago on some site I happened upon – – have no idea what or where!
The beef & cheese flavor Canine Carry Outs are shelf-priced at $9.99 – $10.49 (depending on where in the food chain your store is)  Scan ’em ’cause they’re ringing up crazy!  One store rang at 99¢ (shelf was $9.99) while another store rang at $2.62 and a third rang at $2.49.  The latter two had shelf tags of $10.49.

This is NOT working on the bacon variety, so don’t even bother scanning.  Use the $1/2 from 12/15 rp on the 99¢ bags and you’ll be paying 49¢ a bag!  These are 50 oz bags, people – big and heavy!  Worth getting a dog for!

One store had a shopping cart full of Holiday M&Ms, the 12.6 oz bags, for 99¢.  Use this $1.00 off two (2) bags of M&M’s Brand Candies and you’ll be paying 49¢ a bag.  Think I’ll print a few and check out some other CVS stores!  Only in the interests of research, of course.

when is a deal…not?

With apologies to all the fine folks at Groupon, but shelling out $47 for a $50 total payout (two CVS $25 eGift cards) is just pain cuckoo. Howsoever, if you have big plans for CVS shopping, then go for it because it’s an eCard and you use it in store.  On the off-chance there will be hordes of people clamoring for this deal, there is a limit of one per person.

FREE 24 ct CVS acetaminophen

Photo1.jpgThe Magic Coupon Machine is printing $4.99 coupons for CVS brand acetaminophen 24 ct.  which are coincidentally on sale for $4.99!  which means FREE!

Only coupons for junk food & other urban legends

Photo1.jpgSome of my best kick-butt shopping has been at Whole Foods – remember all the Avalon Organics lotions, shampoos and conditioners we scored for dirt cheap?  The trick to doing well at Whole Foods is to pair manufacturer coupons with the WF store coupons and then use them during a sale!  I paid $3.30 for two Imagine organic gravy boxes ($1 & $1), two Spectrum Walnut oils ($3 & $3) and the baguette.  Cashier was impressed – I, on the other hand, didn’t wanna pay for the bread.  Remember, you can always print two mfr coupons per computer (unless it’s FB, and then you can only print two total).

Stopped at CVS because I hadn’t been in for some time and have a whole slew of ecbs expiring this week.  Picked up the Cafe Bustelo and the free roll of paper towels, courtesy of the Magic Coupon Machine.  I needed four of the Cafe to get $4 in ecbs, but they only had the two – I’ll stop at another location for more over the next couple of days.  Picked up a few of these in early spring for Iced Coffee Season.  Cafe Bustelo made with sewer water is too nasty even for Dumpster Divas.

Make money @ CVS

Only a very few cards have the store coupon (don’t ask how I know this), but if you have all the stars aligned, here’s what you can do to score MM and free Edge shave gel.

CVS has a spend $10 get $4 in ecbs when you buy certain shaving products – Edge is one of them.  If you still have the BOGO printables (I do!) from a few weeks back, use them with $1 coupon in 10/6 S1.  Some cards are generating a $3 or $4 coupon on shaving products at the Magic Coupon Machine, which makes it that much sweeter.  In my case, I’ll buy four cans at $3.49 each ($13.96) less the two BOGO coupons ($6.98) less the two $1 coupons ($2) less the $3 store coupon.  Pay $1.98 and get back $4 in ecbs.  If you have the BOGOs and more than one of the Magic Coupon Machine coupons, it makes more sense to run it with only one BOGO and two $1 coupons because you’ll still pay $1.98 for each transaction, but score $4 in ecbs for each

If you don’t have the BOGOs, buy three cans for $10.47, less the $3 in mfr coupons, less the $3 or $4 Magic Coupon Machine coupon to pay either $3.47 or $4.47 and get back $4.  If you don’t have the $3 or $4 Machine Coupon Machine – – you need more cards…

BTW, CVS had a blinkie by the deodorant, spitting out $1 Dove/Degree coupons with expiration dates of 12/24/13.

Out and about “shopping”

photo.JPGThe free lettuce at Dominicks was too disgusting to even bother with – I mean, who wants to eat iceberg lettuce?  And the package that said romaine?  not.  But I did get the free jar of Herdez cooking sauce on my JFU, and, since I was just driving by anyway, it wasn’t a complete waste of a trip!

Stopped at a couple of CVS stores for more Oral B toothbrushes & heads – those are the ones that PITA uses, so a great stock-up deal.

Walmart for price match on the Kraft mac and cheese – paid for with the overage from the Gax-X.  Sponge Bob…you can dress them up but they’re still kids at heart…

Did not see the 50 oz Era here, but again, mine is a very small WM — it does show up online for $3.97, but don’t see store info.  But again, the last time I saw store info (Domino Light), the store not only didn’t carry it, the grocery manager said they had never carried it…

Oh, and I made almost $3 on my Walmart shopping trip.

CVS clearance

photo.JPG
CVS is dumping their summer-themed goods for 90% off – different stores and regions have, obviously, different stock. Here you’ll find stuff like these USB adaptors/chargers for less than two bucks each – that’s a great price for a spare to keep in the car.

I’m waiting for those ear vacuums to go on clearance – great grab bag gift…..

post edit: Sunday afternoon drugstore shopping

Completely forgot to add these coupons! $1 Reach floss product just showed up and you know that always means FREE floss! Use the Purex $1.50/2 with the B1G2 sale for even cheaper laundry detergent.
$1.00 off REACH Floss, Dentotape or Access Flosser
$1.50 off Any Two (2) Purex Laundry Detergents
$0.50 off Any One (1) Purex Laundry Detergent

photo.JPGFirst stop was Walgreens for Purex (yeah, like I need more laundry soap!) on the B1G2 weekly deal (price is $5.99). There are two Purex coupons in the 10/6 rp, a $3/2 and a 50¢ off one.  Even though the $3/2 scans, it’s for the large bottles, not the small ones that Walgreens typically puts on sale.   If you wait until Tuesday and qualify, Walgreens will be holding a Senior Appreciation Day and the price will be 15% less.

Oh, I forgot to include Altoids in the picture, but I also got two tins of Altoids on sale for 2/$3 – there was a blinkie right above them with $1 coupons.  Used 1,000 points and paid 22¢.

This week CVS has both the Oral B battery toothbrushes and 2-pk refill heads for $5.99 with a $2 ecb, limit 2 per card.  Use the $5 coupon from the October P&G insert and you’ll make a teeny bit of $$ since you’re paying high tax on the $5.99.
