Jewel Pot Promotion

I just like the way that sounds…..

Don’t forget that the pots for a penny promo ends tonight for earning stickers – the redemption period goes through the 26th.  Now I have to head on over there and get my Purdue BOGO Short Cuts so I can mail in for my five rebates…well, maybe six…damn, so many rebates, so little family.  bet the Duggars don’t have this kind of dilemma.

and then on to Jewel

Found an instant potato cat expiring today and had to hit Jewel.  Good thing I did because the clearance rack was back!  It goes away during holidays and is only now reappearing.

So, here’s our stuff: instant potato pack; 6 packages of “Christmas”  rice (Wehani – a natural red strain) for $1.75; 3 packs wild rice for $3.75 each; 2 Java Delight Christmas blend for $2.25; 1 pack clearance cube steak (DH’s new BFF) $1.51 and 6 packages of Sunsweet dried Mango slices ($2.25).  Lest you think I’ve gone fruit-crazy, a check of my handy-dandy coupon database showed .75/1 in 12/5 s.

Total was almost $50, but I used $37.50 in RRs and the meat coupon to get down to $6.79 of which .78 was tax.  I’ll return with my $6 in Sunsweet mfr coupons tomorrow and get the cash back.

Jewel February Free Freezer

Every year (for at least the last 6+  years now), Jewel has offered small 5.2 cu inch freezers (igloo) for $149.99.  This in itself is a good deal because they usually sell for about $169 or more BUT, the coupons attached to the freezer really make the deal.  Prior years provided coupons worth $150 in free items.  Yes, that’s right.  Free.  So naturally you take those coupons and, unlike most people who immediately redeem them, hold onto those suckers until the sweet siren’s BOGO call.

Yeah, well that’s how it worked in prior years, but last year they pulled a fast one and shortened the redemption period from December 31 to May 31, which effectively blew that BOGO dream.  Still, for those peeps needing/wanting a second (or third, or…) freezer, it’s a pretty sweet deal.  CW confirmed with Jewel that they’ll be running this in 2011, but there’s no confirmed dates or amounts yet (although it’s usually held in the beginning of February).  I’ll update as needed…

Supervalu settles Chicago bias case for $3.2M

So the 110 employees each get just under $29,000.

Craig Herkert, the former Wal-Mart Stores Inc. executive who took the top job last year at Eden Prairie-based Supervalu, received a pay package totaling nearly $10.8 million for the fiscal year ending in February.

you do the math….

Jewel – $1.97

Decided to burn through coupons and wts before expiration so ran a quick transaction at Jewel: 4 packs hot Italian Sausage (BOGO and $4 meat wts), 2 packs bratwurst (BOGO and $4 meat wt), 3 coffee ($4 wts), 20 lb bag white rice ($2 store q) and two Macaroni Grill (2 Free q’s).  Total was over $50, so used a “found” $5/50 cat and the previously mentioned coupons to bring my total down to $15.47, which I will admit is rather high…so I threw in a $10 RR from Sinex and a $3.50 RR from Chex Mix to end up at $1.97 OOP.

Let’s figure out the real cost here: the $13.50 in RRs cost me $7.95, so add that to the $1.97 and we’re at $9.92.  Pretty good way to start the week.

Jewel pot stamps giveaway – Winner Update

And the winner is:   Pat G. PITA read through all the comments.  Heard her read them out loud and laugh, sometimes VERY LOUDLY.  Finally she made her choice and said “Pat G.”  why?  who can figure out the inner workings of mind of a teenage girl.  I would have thought that the person offering Justin Bieber tickets would get the nod, but then if someone has Justin Bieber tickets, sell the stupid things and buy some decent  All Clad pans!  I mean, it’s not like he’s Davy Jones or anything …. sigh   here

Well, looks like the collecting was the “funnest” part for me – don’t really need any more cookware.  When I mentioned that I had filled a couple of books, the CS mgr was amazed: “You don’t ever spend any money!”  Well, I do, but America’s largest corporations believe in paying for my groceries, OTC meds, toiletries and pet food.

I’ve giving you guys a week to post a comment to win a completed booklet of 130 stamps; giveaway closes Friday, the 7th at 5 pm, when I’ll have PITA (if it’s convenient for her) pick a name.  As soon as I get the winner’s deets the booklet will go out in the mail. Redemption period goes through 1/26/2011, so there’ll be plenty of time.

Jewel year-end coupons

Quick run through Jewel to pick up the McCain potatoes for a buck a bag.  Yeah, like my mom says, I could make them cheaper myself.  But who has time for that – I spend all my time couponing and hunting down deals!

8 bags of the potatoes, 1 lonely little Swiss Miss, 1 New England coffee and 5 dozen eggs.  Even though we use a ton of eggs, I realize that this is a trifle excessive.  However, there is a $2 off any purchase of $10 or more of Jewel brand products, which can be found in the new booklet pictured here.  While I wouldn’t jump up and down for most of the coupons, if you use eggs or other store-brand products, it’s a nice coupon to have…which explains the sheer number of booklets…  exp 2/4/11

Public Service Announcement

Don’t forget that tomorrow is 12/31/10, otherwise known as the expiration date for some great coupons.   The Dominicks Thanksgiving booklet has Swiss Miss and Sierra Mist, among others expiring, so use ’em up or use ’em at Dominicks…

We’re out of hummus?

This cannot be true!  But fear not, there is a new $2 coupon out there with an expiration date of 4/30/2011! Click Tribe for another wonderful pdf coupon.  Grateful thanks to velviita, the OP on CW.  The current Jewel promotion goes through early January, I believe.  by the way, the hummus pictured is my favorite.

Some dream of cereal castles, some of diapers …

Back in the car for more meatballs.  Since I was there, decided to throw in a few other things…the 10 oz sale Fast Shake pancake batters were gone, so they substituted 2 of the 5 oz ones for each (got rain check for 30 – now to find more computers), Sierra Mist, Gatorade Prime and one lonely bottle of Sobe.  Two transactions, total OOP was $3.46, brought down by using a found $1 OYNO and a $3 OYNO from the Kleenex component of the K-C $25 gift card deal.

Important note:  There doesn’t seem to any method to the register glitch – Naperville (75th and Naper) was ringing B1G2; Westmont wasn’t working, I’ll know more about other stores later.  The only one working for certain is the Rte 53 Lisle store where they still have lots in the end freezer.  Take them out of the box and they require very little room in your freezer(s).
