Jewel today

Went to check on my numerous special orders and met the new manager.  She’s funny, nice and understands coupons – what’s not to like?  Actually, she’s now my BFF, since, upon learning we both attended the same high school, thought we would be in approximately the same graduating class (instead of 13 years apart!).

How much money would you like to borrow

Monday am – pretty Con Agra pix

Thought I’d check out Jill’s site last night.  Usually she posts Monday am, but occasionally it’s earlier.  I know most of us have worked out the various scenarios already (been done to death, actually), but I wondered if another person would see different stuff.  Her site was basically toast until I just gave up and went to bed (would not load beyond home page).

Well, her posts this morning just blew me away!  Not that there was anything new with  the Con Agra combinations, but because of the way-cool little pictures!  I called my husband over to look at them all and he thought it was set up for people who can’t read!  Although, now that I think about it, he’s probably right.  Most of the people who contact me about cats not printing haven’t read the entire post or written down the product combinations needed to hit the $25 threshold!

Jewel (quel surprise)

Decided to take my own advice and do a few more deals before tomorrow morning’s cluster….well, you remember…

  1. Four boxes OR popcorn, two bags Poppycock pecan (shut up, ok?, I’m certain the nuts are antioxidant or something) $13.69 less $2 salty snack wt and $10 prior cat or $1.69 OOP
  2. Ditto above
  3. Six cans HC soup (gumbo, which will go well with my fako lobster) and one pack Sparkle paper towels: $11.85 less $10 prior cat or $1.85 OOP
  4. Ditto above

That’s it for now.  I still have plenty of stuff coming in on special orders, so I should be fine.  One thing people don’t understand is why anyone would buy so much toilet paper.  Well, let’s think about this:  it doesn’t expire; doesn’t go out of fashion; is something you will always need/use and finally, why not get a year’s supply for the cost of a couple of packs?  Ain’t rocket science, peeps.  If you don’t have the space at your place (although you can stuff tons of canned goods in banana boxes or totes under a bed), see if you can store things with family in an unused part of a basement or bedroom.

Jewel again?

Yeah, I’m glad to be back shopping at Jewel.  Always better when you know the store personnel and the policies aren’t written in shifting sand…

Here we have 15 bottles of Wesson oil, run in sets of 5.  This was a special order placed last week.  Ended up spending $2.72 on each run, again rolling a prior $10 cat.

Took the sole package of Sparkle paper towels on the shelf:  it was lonely and looking for a good home.  seriously!  Added 6 cans of soup and spent $1.79 OOP, since those cats were arollin’.

Realized that I was going to need to increase in my special orders on the Angel Soft and Sparkle, so met with asst mgr and upped it.  He’s only been at this store for about two weeks – he must have freaked at the way I was casually  mentioning 10 cases of toilet paper, 2 additional of Hungry Jack pancake syrup, etc.  Either that or my family suffers terribly from amoebic dysentery.

Important Note:  Jill Cataldo posts her deals on Monday morning.  If you plan to hit the stores on this deal – do it today or at least stop by and place your special order today.  We know what we’re doing and why and what triggers the catalinas.  So many newbies (obviously not all) have no interest in learning, just gimme my free stuff.  If it doesn’t work, they blame the employees!  So why get in the middle of a clusterfuck?

Jewel formula clearance

For those of you who have emailed me looking for deals on formula:  there were a few clearance ready mix and powder at the Lisle Jewel/Osco clearance – both items were less than $4.  Keep checking both your “regular” Jewel and any others you might happen across, since every area works on its own markdown schedule.

Con Agra Angel Soft toilet paper update

I waited until tonight before hitting the Jewel for the Angel Soft tp.  There was a glitch in the catalina software program where the UPCs for the 20% bonus packs weren’t registering.  As you know, I won’t post until I’ve done it and NOW I HAVE!

I picked up 1 pack tp and 6 soups, using one .50/1 q from 9/19 RP.  OOP was $1.29.  Ran this three times, no tp left on shelf.

I have now added 2 more cases of soup to my special orders and placed a tp order for 5 or 6 cases (of 5 packs).  Should last for the next year for less than $20 and the soup is free!  This is the smart way to shop, peeps.

Hello Jewel, long time no sea, or quick, where’s the fake crabs?

Once again I stop at Jewel desperately seeking my gummy vitamins (they hadn’t called, but I was full of hope and other things…).  The Osco mgr said that none had come in on the order so she was putting it through again for Tuesday delivery.  Good thing I snatched the last few from the shelf yesterday.  yeah, tough!

Since I was there anyway, decided to avail myself of a few more cans of soup and that fako crabbo, except this time it was actually fako lobstero and quite tasty.  Detoured around the pancake syrup aisle, and picked up 9 cans of Healthy Choice soup ($2.89 x 9 = 26.01, so over the $25 threshold).  Since the actual preferred total would be only $7.92, I needed to throw a couple of bucks in the pot, so to speak, so I could roll over a prior $10 cat.  Added the mini French loaves for $2.29.  My actual OOP for this ended up at .49.

The soups go marching one by one… Update

Quick note:  I’ve now placed special orders for, let’s just say, a significant number of soups and syrups.  The soup comes in cases of 12 and the syrup in cases of 6, so for each case of soup you run you’d need four syrups. As long as you specify that you need the orders by next Wednesday, you should be fine.  Don’t forget to get the Wesson oil, too.  .50/each is a steal!

OK, figured I’d do a couple of soup runs:  I got 6 of the Healthy Choice ones and 2 Hungry Jack pancake syrup (you know I needed it after buying all those pancake mixes at Meijer).  Total OOP was .46 —– so I ran it five times!

This deal requires no coupons, none, nada, nothing. You are buying based on the spread between the Preferred Card price (.88) and the $2.89 shelf price (for soup) and the 2/$5 Preferred Card price (for syrup) and 2/$8 shelf price.  Spend $25 and up on this Con Agra deal and you get a $10 catalina back.  So the shelf price is $25.34, but the Preferred Card price is only $10.46.  When you pay you get back a $10 catalina.  Keep rolling those catalinas over and over and you are only OOP the .46.  Didn’t I say it was easy?

A side note here:  My wonderful, adored store manager, Jesse, is leaving our Jewel for Munster, IN, which is one of only four Jewel stores in the entire state of Indiana.  I will inject no snarky comments here, although it’s hard to restrain myself.  I definitely will miss him.  Anyone in Indiana who shops this Jewel is in for an pleasant shopping experience with Jesse:  He “gets” couponing.

Free Crabs!

One of the CW posters noticed that Jewel has the Crab Classics on sale for $1 through the 17th.  Use this printable (2 per computer, not printer) and get free crabs!  and yes, that’s me in the picture, thanks for asking…

Jewel – OOP $2.22

The Con Agra catalina deal is working in full force right now.  This is the time of year when you stock up until next year’s sale.  That’s why I’m getting more OR popcorn (exp. dates 7/2010).  Buy 7 boxes for $11.83 and get back $10.  Or, in my case, use a $10 cat from a prior deal and put out $1.83 plus tax.  In this transaction I grabbed the last three gummy vitamins on the shelf to use up some of my coupons.  Everything worked well and I got another 2 stamps.  Go pots!

I’m going back to the store in a bit to place a special order for a couple of cases of Wesson cooking oil, since there was none on the shelf.  This is a hot one, folks.  You buy 5 oils and end up spending $12.50 and then get back $10.  Keep rolling the cats and you’re a winner…
