Jewel or Home Again

Got the call “Your vitamins are in.”  Oooh, my gummy sweethearts…  Since I was there anyway, picked up a few extra things.  Subtotal?  $227.  (as the PITA says, like that’s gonna happen)  after coupons…$22.25.  Found a $1.50 cat for Robitussin and saw them on clearance for $1.62 (11/11 exp).  Used a $8 off $80 cat.  Used two of the GM cats…down to $12.25 BUT I still have $6 in coupons for the clearanced Cesar dog treats (check your local stores – they’re free w/ $2 q 10/3 RP) and another couple of bucks for the Scooby-Doo Rogurt (for my friend at the puppy place).  Got back the $10 for the GM product and I’ll end up OOP a couple of bucks.

And 21 more pot stamps.

Some of my most favorite Jewel people were working tonight – glad to see their social life is as jumping as mine…

Now accepting orders on WIDE LOAD printed sweatpants

or, why the hell did I buy all these Sweet Moments brownies (oh, yeah, I love chocolate)…

First of all the Con Agra catalina is still running as of a few minutes ago.  Plenty of HC soup – unfortunately, it’s at the new sale price of $2.  crap!  The Del Monte catalina is still on, but the veggies have jumped from .89 to $2.  double crap!  I was able to score 5 more of the Wesson oil for $2.50 and I saw stacks of Sparkle and Angel Soft for the $5.99 price; Folgers had gone up a buck to $7.99.

Picked up all the brownie stuff you see here for FREE!  well except for DAMNED TAXES!  Run seven of the Sweet Moments; sale price is $3.75 and preferred price is $2.50.  (7 x 2.5 = 17.50, less $10 Con Agra cat, less 1 $1.50 printable (DH was unable to print, so limit may have been reached) and 6 $1 coupons from 9/12 GM insert).  Final cost is .31 and 2 $5 cats spit out.  Earned another 3 pot stamps.  One more thing…go searching through coupons.com for any additional coupons you might need; I printed out a bunch of the $1/1 (now .65/1) Cinnamon Toast Crunch coupons since this should make them free (and I used up most of our cereal on the Panera breakfast sandwich deal).

And I’m only mildly joking about the sweatpants…

GM Catalina

While I love the thought of free vegetables, I HAVE NO MORE FREEZER SPACE!  Even I can’t justify buying another freezer solely for deals.  I ran to Jewel to:  1) bring in my prior receipts from Con-Agra with coupons to get my cash! and 2) try the new GM catalina.

Here’s my loot:  13 boxes of various Green Giant veggies, nice ones, not just corn, peas and carrots.  The deal is buy $25 get back $10.  Since this is working off sale price ($2/each), the 13 boxes ring at $26.  Preferred Card price is $13.  Using a combination of printables and .60/3 from the last couple of GM inserts (9/12 and 10/3) my total was $10.43.  Handed over a $10 Con Agra cat and change and received two $2 cats from GM.  Got one more pot stamp.

If you have no coupons, your OOP will be $3 (using a prior cat, of course).  Use 4 of the insert coupons and you’re at .60 for 13 boxes, which is sweet indeed.  Almost makes up for all the crap we’ve been shoveling down our pieholes the last couple of weeks…

Papa Charlie’s coupon update

I’ve learned that some of you have been unable to use your printables at Jewel on the 5 lb. Italian beef tubs.  The sale goes through October 24, so plenty of time to get some.

One person went to three Jewels last night; each store refused the coupon (one claimed that Jewel coupon policy prohibits internet coupons over $3).  Here is a direct quote from the Super-valu/Jewelosco site:

4.  INTERNET COUPONS:

Internet Coupons printed from a website are redeemable with a qualifying purchase.  Jewel-Osco DOES NOT accept internet coupons containing the following conditions:

  1. Coupons that have expired
  2. ‘Free’ product offers that do not require a purchase
  3. Redemption value exceeding $5.00
  4. Absence of UPC bar code
  5. Absence of Legal paragraph

That’s it, peeps, the whole section as it relates to printables.  If you have problems, make sure you deal with the cs manager, who has access to the rules and should be aware of them.  After all, this isn’t Dominicks, where each store is pretty much autonomous; Jewel is consistent.

Good luck.

Ethics and other slanders about me

We all know that a HC soup at Jewel is like Big Foot – you’ve heard rumors, but no one’s actually seen one…hence the picture.

Well, people are reporting that some Jewels have been giving out rain checks for the HC soup, together with a notation to award a $10 Jewel gift card (since the dealio ends tonight).  I’ve actually spoken with some Jewels about this and it most likely will happen.  My take on this?  Sorry, but if you were thinking I’d say go for it, you’re wrong.  Jewel doesn’t pay for those cats they distribute, the manufacturer does.  If Jewel hands out $10 gift cards willy-nilly they are out the ten bucks, even though you’ll spend it on other groceries.

And they’ll probably insist that you actually spend $25, so yet another deal-breaker if you’re short on ethics this week and you thought I was gonna totally mush out, right?  this is the dark side, kiddo…

Adieu Con Agra – Hello GM

Whew!  This Con Agra deal is killing me!  I ran two transactions:

1.  Seven OR popcorn, six cans Del Monte diced tomatoes w/ chilies and two 5 lb tubs of Papa Charlie’s Italian Beef.  This beef is selling for $12.99, so using the BOGO and $5 printables brought it down to $7.99 for 10 pounds of what the cs woman said is a great-tasting beef.  Should appeal to the family carnivores.  Del Monte produced a $2 cat.

2.  Assorted frozen crap to make my son and daughter (and, let’s be honest, my husband, too) shut up.

Total OOP on #1 was $1.40.  I used two $10 Con Agra cats and the printables.  OOP on #2 was .82 after a $10 cat and the $2 Del Monte cat.  I was going to bring in more coupons, but total’s already gone down faster than a crack ho.  Ended up with 2 $10 cats and four stickers for pots, so you could say transaction #1 was actually $11.40 (since I used up one of my cats).

Did you register with Papa Charlies?  Where else can you get 10 pounds of Italian Beef?  If you’re waiting to win the 780 smart quiz (with its Buona Beef catering package), your family’s gonna be  r  e  a  l skinny.

Tomorrow the GM cat deal starts (actually, it’s reported to be working already) and there are quite a few double dips.  Will post more tomorrow.  Also have to check out the Gain catalina at Meijer to make certain the the large size bottle of dish soap will be FREE.

Papa Charlie’s Cheap Meat

Well who the hell doesn’t like cheap meat!  And I’m not talking 3 am booty call, either.

Go to Papa Charlies and register.  Simple info and valid email.  They immediately send you a confirmation email, you click and wham! $5 q.  The instructions tell you to save it as a pdf file and print as many as you’d like. No shit!  Rumor hath it that they will be sending out another coupon (BOGO?) later this week to all registered users.  So do it now!

Jewel takes printables up to $5, so you’re good to go.  Even if you get a BOGO printable for a product selling for more than $5, it’s still good because it requires the purchase of the first product, so it’s not free.  This distinction is in the Jewel rules, which confuses some cashiers.  Any questions, clear with cs first.  Or after, if you feel like having a screaming hissy fit in the store.  your call…

And tremendous thanks for OP at CW

National Celiac Awareness Month

Was going to make some dumb joke here, but realized that for someone with a gluten-intolerance that could be life-threatening, it’s not funny… so

Mambo Sprouts has tons of coupons and recipes on their site.  Remember when I told you to sign up for their emails because of the high value coupons on “healthy” stuff (unlike the 4000 pudding cups we’ve all gotten in the past week – well, not me! –  insert halo here).

WELL, DO IT!  NOW!

Off now to scout out the last few Con Agra deals in North America.  Wish me luck.

A Tale (trail?) of Toilet Paper

The bad news first:  I had placed a special order for 8 cases of Angel Soft toilet paper – which came in – to go with my HC 10 case order – which didn’t.  So here’s my dilemma:  do I get sucked down the overpayment drain or walk out on my special order and make the store eat it.  You have to understand that my Jewel has a ridiculously small back room with no storage.  Nowhere near enough to keep an extra 8 to 10 cases of toilet paper.

Obviously I bought the damned toilet paper.  Once you go back on a special order, you can pretty much kiss any future deals bye bye.  Why would they take a chance on you again?

Sooooooo, in total,  OOP is $82.85.  Picked up 39 Angel Soft ($120.51), 6 cans of Folgers (22.68) and 13 snack cups (the only thing that was cheap: $1.64).  I used up a bunch of the Ultra Aquapod cats and some RRs.  Ended up with 3 $10 Con Agra cats; only rolling the Con Agra cats would have been $144.83.  Hope to get more of the .50 Angel Soft coupons in the next 60 days, which will ease the pain somewhat.

but I’m hoping to turn a profit during stomach flu season.

and I got 18 more stickers for pots…

Updates today

Just a quick post to let you all know that I haven’t died or been strangled by a jealous wife (sigh, i only wish).  Spent the day at my mom’s, since I knew that Jewel would be a madhouse.  My orders are scheduled to come in tonight, so tomorrow morning I’ll head on over and see what Santa brought me.  Thinking of stocking up on the Folgers coffee, etc.  since free coffee is good coffee.   Anybody on here know anything about this brand?  We’re been using Hills for a long time, then switched to the Maxwell House breakfast blend coffee from the Meijer’s deal a few weeks ago (which I like very much).  Safeway brand coffee sucks donkey balls – it’s as weak as Scots tea (3 cups to a bag) and even if you double the amount used, it’s still weak.  And now all your savings are down the toilet!  Let me know, ’cause I need the caffeine jolt.

I’ll post tomorrow with the various scenarios I’m planning to run.  Don’t want to post until I’m certain they all work.  If any of you have been running anything different from the UPC list, comment and let us know.  It gets tiring having SOUP in every friggin’ transaction!

that is all.  don’t stay out too late shopping.

Stay away from the pecan Poppycock – it’s the devil!
