Wags tripping

Been out most of the afternoon, trying to score more Brainstrong, etc.   Tough sell, kids.  If you’re trying to roll those Tecnu gel and Youtheory $7 RRs and you come across a Walgreens with generic Prevacid and ReNew fish oil, buy one of each with a cheap filler and use two of the $7 RRs and the ReNew $2 pdf coupon.  Pay low tax plus whatever filler you choose and get back $16 in RRs.  ‘Cause finding the Prevacid and ReNew is a whole heck of a lot easier than finding Brainstrong.  Keep those Vitamin booklets, though, because the coupons don’t expire until May 1, 2013, so plenty of time to use them.

Walgreens 6/3 $hopping

Here’s the breakdown – with pictures – of the Brainstrong/ReNew transactions.

Transaction 1:  Buy one Brainstrong and use the $4 mfr coupon from the newest Walgreens Vitamin book.  Get $10 RR.

Transaction 2:  Buy one Omega Smart Ultimate Fish Oils and one Goody hair product.  Pay with the $2 ReNew pdf coupon and the $10 RR from Brainstrong.  Get back $12 in RRs.

Transaction 3:  Brainstrong plus generic Prevacid plus a cheap filler (I used a 15¢ Lemonhead).  Pay with $4 Brainstrong coupon plus $12 in RRs from transaction 2.  Get back $16.  Set the $6 RR off to the side because you won’t be using it.

Roll between Transactions 2 and 3 for as long as you have the $4 Brainstrong coupon.

If you run out or never had the Brainstrong coupons, you will still work the two transactions, but with a slight twist:

Transaction 1:  Buy one Brainstrong with no coupon for $10 and get a $10 RR.

Transaction 2:  Buy one Ultra Smart fish oil and one Goody hair accessory.  Pay with the $2 ReNew pdf coupon and the $10 Brainstrong RR.  Get back $12 in RRs.  Set the $2 Goody RR aside because you will not be using it.

Transaction 3  Buy one Brainstrong.  Pay with the $10 Ultimate Fish Oil RR.  Get back $10.  Rinse and repeat steps 2 and 3.

With the second scenario, you won’t be  needing any cheap fillers, so that’s one plus.

Walgreens 6/10-

I haven’t posted anything on this week before because, frankly, there’s nothing to post about!  Not one FARR deal, very few even semi-decent RRs ones.  As always, though, we don’t know all the coupons that will be coming out in the next few weeks and I’ve always thought that the unexpected deals were the juiciest!

There is a Buy $30 worth of participating Old Spice, GIllette or Secret products and get a $10 RR, but there are no decent coupons currently out there.

The Schick Hydro or power razors are $8.99 with a $2 RR.  There will be a $4 in the 6/10 inserts.

Burt deodorant/antiperspirant will be on sale for $1.49.  There is a $1 from 5/13 S, but that expires on 6/3.  There will be another Brut coupon in the 6/10 inserts, but I don’t know values yet.  If this brand is a favorite, a buck coupon will make it pretty cheap, although free is my favorite.

Sunday drugstore $hopping

With apologies to MUM, but why would I want to spend money at drugstores?  First transaction was for the two Ecotrin for $3.  Used my $1.50 coupons, paid 5¢ and got back the $2.  Used the $2 RR on my first purchase of tecnu first aid gel to bring the cost down to $5.  Then used the $7 tecnu gel RR to buy the Youtheory.  and so forth and so on…  I also ran a buttload of Ecotrin transactions (buttload being a technical term for large quantities…unless we’re talking about a Depends deal) – didn’t bother with pictures ’cause product castles are so last year…

PITA and I stopped at McDonalds on our run for some freebie chillers.  They offered PITA a McFlurry for free ’cause someone had ordered it and left.  Sweet deal day!  And yes, Rachel, I am lucky.

Walgreens & 7-11 for free Slurpees

Don’t forget that 7-11 is giving out FREE 7.11 oz cups of any flavor Slurpees until 7 pm today (Chicago time).  PITA and I stopped at a Walgreens so I could roll some of my RRs into the Sleep Sheets and then got a mango sugar-free Slurpee.

It’s official – new Jewel coupon acceptance policy

Learned about this last week, but Jewel put an embargo of sorts on the release of the information.  Judging by my emails, many of you have already encountered this, usually incorrectly quoted.  Here’s the official comment from the Jewel Facebook page:

Jewel-Osco Beginning July 1st, 2012 Jewel-Osco will no longer accept competitor manufacturer coupons that contain the statement “Redeemable only at.” If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for stopping by our Facebook page and have a great week.

So there you have it. ALL Walgreens RRs have that Redeemable only at wording, so July 1 we’ll be DOA for free-spending purposes. Hey, but this just means we have to be more conscious of rolling our RRs between deals, right?  And between you and me, at least we have enough time to make plans – – had it been Dominicks, the policy would have changed last week – – in the middle of the night – – on toilet paper – – in invisible ink — after giving the secret handshake…

Update:  I forgot to add that Jewel corporate is throwing us a bone of sorts:  Starting July 1 they will allow overage.  Well, hell’s bells, if you played your cards right…but I digress.  If you have a $1 coupon and the item is selling for 75¢ or any lesser amount, you will get the full value of the coupon as long as you have sufficient groceries to absorb the overage.  In other words, unlike Walmart, there is no cash coming in our direction.  Course, it’s gonna be hard to find anything for sale at Jewel for less than the value of the pitiful coupons we’ve been seeing lately.

Wags 5/20 or what to do with all those .99 RRs! – update

Yeah, you’re looking at that giant wad of Starbucks RRs, figuring you’re gonna have to fill a lot of containers at the Jewel olive bar – – but wait!  Here’s a few little scenarios to help you not only use up those RRs, but also get you more “stuff!”

Transaction 1:    Buy one Sleep Sheets strips for $4.99.  Buy Kotex U Sleek Tampons $3.99. Use the $1 Kotex U from 5/20 S.  You’re now at $7.98, so add 8 cheap fillers and pay with your .99 RRs.  Which will give you another $7.99 in RRs.

Add the following to the mix and you can probably eliminate one of the cheap fillers but you do your own math, depending on the price of your fillers.  At this point you’re not paying anything but high tax on the Ajax cleanser.

Ajax Cleanser B1G1 for $.99 w/in-ad coupon (Limit 4).  Use $1/2 Ajax, Fab, Dynamo, Final Touch or Niagara Product from 2/26 S or 5/20 S.  I’ve waffled about this for some time now, but I’m marking it deleted. Why? Well, when they ran the earlier coupon (it was a .50 off one, whereas the new one is $1/2), it had the same wording and same pictures: laundry products. Lots of people were trying to use it on the cleanser, but it wouldn’t scan. So you’re talking override. Now, some parts of the country may very well carry these brands of laundry detergent along with the cleanser, but I don’t see it around here. If you run one or two items, the world will not end; if you’re planning on using the cans as fillers to eliminate some Laffy Taffy on large transactions, I would advise against it. If the store got audited and couldn’t show that they even carried the laundry detergent, much less in the quantities “purchased,” then our group of Darkside Wags stores will be that much smaller.

Walgreens 6/3 MMs

The week of June 3rd is shaping up to be an awesome deal-rolling one.  Here’s the way it’s breaking so far:

Transaction 1:  brainstrong Kids gummy vitamins 30 ct will be on sale for $10 with a $10 RR.  Use the $4 off any brainstrong product as shown in the newest Vitamin booklet pictured above.  The kids vitamins are shown on the coupon.  woot!!

Transaction 2:  ReNew brand Ultra Smart fish oil 30 ct will be on sale for $10.  Use the $2 pdf from the Wags post almost exactly one year ago.  Throw in a Goody hair accessory on sale for $2 with a $2 RR.  Spend $10 and get back $12 in RRs.

Transaction 3:  brainstrong kids vitamin plus Walgreens brand Lansoprozole (generic Prevacid).  This is a newer product and may not yet be in stock as of today.  WIC is 149338.  Use $4 brainstrong coupon plus Goody $2 RR, plus $10 ReNew RR.  You will need a very cheap filler for one of the RRs to attach to.  Pay filler plus tax.  Get back $16 ($10 and $6).  Set the $6 RR aside into a pile, ’cause this is your reward for all your hard work!

You will be rolling between Transaction 2 and 3 as long as you have product and paper in the cat machine.  Note: The brainstrong $4 coupon is a MFR coupon, so get as many coupon booklets as you can.  Ask your local stores to stock up for you.  Without the coupon, it’s nowhere near as good as deal.  Maybe we’ll luck out and get an insert coupon in the upcoming weeks (there is nothing in the 5/20 inserts).

Wags & Starbucks – a refre$hing combination!

Sorry for the bad pun…well, actually, aren’t puns supposed to be bad?  Picked up well over a hundred – stopped counting when we switched from cases to loose cans.  Cashier said the orange flavor was awesome, so I just had to try it.  She’s right, it’s like drinking cantaloupes!  And that’s a good thing!

Walgreens 5/27

Reader reminded me that I hadn’t hit publish yet!  Here’s the best stuff I see for the Walgreens week of 5/27.  I’ve included the WIC numbers so you can easily look these up on the Wag site.  Note, however, that the Walgreens site has been crashing regularly lately.

The Tecnu First aid gel is finally showing up.  Spend $7 and get a $7 RR. (WIC 151711)

Youtheory Collagen Type 1 and 3 (120 ct tablets). Spend $7 and get a $7 RR.  Just what is this stuff? Nutrawise Corporation, Tustin, CA, has unveiled Youtheory Collagen Advanced Formula, a dietary supplement that combines collagen types 1, 2 and 3 into a single tablet. The product combines collagen type 1 and 3 to support healthy hair, skin, nails, tendons and ligaments, along with collagen type 2 to provide complete joint and bone support. Collagen Advanced Formula is the first product in the company’s Youtheory line.

Just roll between the two transactions. Easy peasy.

A MM will be the Ecotrin tablets (WIC 689346):  Buy 2 of the 45 ct. bottles (2/$3) and get a $2 RR.  Use the $1.50 mfr coupon in 5/6 rp to pay nothing and get a $2 RR.
