Learned about this last week, but Jewel put an embargo of sorts on the release of the information. Judging by my emails, many of you have already encountered this, usually incorrectly quoted. Here’s the official comment from the Jewel Facebook page:
Jewel-Osco Beginning July 1st, 2012 Jewel-Osco will no longer accept competitor manufacturer coupons that contain the statement “Redeemable only at.” If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for stopping by our Facebook page and have a great week.
So there you have it. ALL Walgreens RRs have that Redeemable only at wording, so July 1 we’ll be DOA for free-spending purposes. Hey, but this just means we have to be more conscious of rolling our RRs between deals, right? And between you and me, at least we have enough time to make plans – – had it been Dominicks, the policy would have changed last week – – in the middle of the night – – on toilet paper – – in invisible ink — after giving the secret handshake…
Update: I forgot to add that Jewel corporate is throwing us a bone of sorts: Starting July 1 they will allow overage. Well, hell’s bells, if you played your cards right…but I digress. If you have a $1 coupon and the item is selling for 75¢ or any lesser amount, you will get the full value of the coupon as long as you have sufficient groceries to absorb the overage. In other words, unlike Walmart, there is no cash coming in our direction. Course, it’s gonna be hard to find anything for sale at Jewel for less than the value of the pitiful coupons we’ve been seeing lately.
I just hate that Walgreens ever started that wording on the RRs – don’t they know being able to bring them to Jewel just means that more CASH is spent at Wags, without them having to send in for reimbursement? I don’t roll RRs very often. I try not to buy things I don’t use just to roll RRs. It was always easier to just bring them to Jewel to pay for other groceries. I don’t get it sometimes. Whatever. It’s a whole new ballgame over at Walgreens I guess.
I feel the same way as Beth. I don’t screw around with weekly rollover, I just once in a blue moon do a big deal where I’ll spend like $200 for $450 in RRs, and then use them on groceries. No rollover, no scenarios, just over $250 in free groceries.
Well, you’re gonna have to revise your game plan, now, won’t you, Justin?
Jewel’s —- gonna miss us when we’re gone!!
yes i agree i would also use my RR’s @ jewel 4 free groceries but unfortunately the RR’s were mean’t 2 spend money @ wags and then come back 2 wags 2 spend ur RR’s….oh well Jewel u were overpriced anyways…..
I am sooooo sorry! I never had Jewels, so I was already outta luck! I have heard from several people that Meijer’s is now allowing RR, since they updated their policy. It seems a big YMMV though.
