Flipping at Walgreens

photo.JPGNot a heck of a lot going on this week at Walgreens, so I’ve been playing a little rolling action:  Buy the Schiff Digestive Advantage IBS 32 ct for $8.  Using my 15% library card discount ($6.80) and 5,000 in points, I spent $2.02 and got an $8 RR.  I took the $8 RR and bought the Bayer contour next USB meter for $10 ($8.50 after library card; shelf price of $32.99), paying 50¢ and low tax, earning 10,000 points.  So far I’m at 112,450 points.  It’s not that high a number, but I use this card to roll back and forth with RRs, so I don’t see the point of running up your totals…it’s not like you get a Pontiac convertible or a trophy when you hit a million…

cheap/free Nivea Men balm & shave gel

This week Walgreens has Nivea for Men at 2/$7 with a $2 RR when you buy two.  Use the $3 and BOGO coupons from the Nivea for Men Facebook page and you’ll walk out with nice face stuff and a $2 RR to boot!  You can print both coupons twice, once you Like them.  I ran this twice using the coupons and my library card 15% discount – paid only tax for both transactions (they had to reduce the coupon values!) and got two $2 RRs for my trouble!

Speaking of Like versus like, I’m starting to feel like the red-headed stepchild of the blogging world, ’cause I don’t push Facebook as hard as most bloggers.  So please, Like me on Facebook, even if you hate me in real life, ’cause otherwise the newbie blogs snigger…

September is National Library Card Month

Check your local library to see if they are participating (most are) and what promotions they have planned and which businesses are offering promotions.  In Lisle, our two Walgreens always offer 20% off Wags brands and 15% off name brands for the entire month of September – that traditionally has made a huge difference in my stock-up amounts and prices (Nutrisse Garnier for $1.32 anyone?).

$1.12 Head & Shoulders @ Wags – today only! WORKS!

IT WORKS!  I just picked up 20 bottles of Head & Shoulders – all varieties – and this is how it worked:

Each first bottle rang up at $4.49 and the second one was $2.24.  The cashier scanned the BOGO after each set of two bottles.  Coupon took off $4.49, so each set of two was $2.24.  This has a shelf tag of $6.29 at my location.

Head and Shoulders is currently on sale at Walgreens for between $3.99 and $4.49 as an August monthly deal.  Next week’s sale has them for BOGO 50%.  There is a BOGO coupon in the 8/4 rp2 which expires today, August 31.

I’ve tried it all ways and this is definitely a ymmv situation:  The coupon value goes up to $6.99, but I can’t be certain of how the register will read it until after early activation.  One thing I do know is that you cannot have the cashier run multiples (example:  8 x 1 bottle), but instead they must scan each and every bottle.

Free got2b styling products at Walgreens

Saw this on CW earlier:  Walgreens August monthly deal is got2B hair styling products for $3.99.  Starting Sunday, 9/1, they will be BOGO, at who knows what price!  Grab them on Saturday after your store flips over the system to the next week’s sale – usually mid-afternoon, but ask to be sure.  Buy two at $3.99 and pay with two of the $2 coupons from 8/4 rp2.  Since this will result in .01 overage, you either have them mark the coupon down  (as per Walgreens coupon policy) or have something else in your order to eat the overage.  FYI, coupon has some silly wording about limit 4…

All the news that fits: Missouri AG accuses Walgreens of overcharging…

Yeah, quel surprise…Anywho, I bounce between FOX News and The Onion for my factoids, but read The Huff Post ’cause it not only could possibly be real – – it oft times is!

This article appeared a couple of days ago.  Apparently the Missouri Attorney General sent secret shoppers into Walgreens stores across the state; he was shocked and dismayed at what they found:  Apparently Walgreens overcharges customers and engages in deceptive display advertising and pricing schemes!

The AG either must not get out much or his wife took over shopping for him from his mother.  Here’s the whole article link.

slight MM on Suave Moroccan oil @ Wags

450There’s a great deal at Walgreens this week on Suave Moroccan Infusions Styling Oil –  normally $6.99, this week they’re 2/$6 or 1 for $3.49(!).  There’s a $1 coupon in 8/25 rp, plus you earn 2,000 points for spending $6 on Suave products!  Ibotta is also showing a $1.25 rebate, so you’re talking a slight MM here (75¢ comes from scanning your Wags receipt and the other 50¢ is two quizzes).  With high tax, I paid $4.43, earned 2,000 points and added $1.25 to my Ibotta account.  While you can buy as much of this as you’d like and still earn the points, you can only get the one Ibotta deal.  Still, at $1.22 for each – it’s a no brainer!

What’s Ibotta?  It’s an APP for smart phones that pays you cash for buying stuff you’re buying anyway….double-dipping!  Basically, you buy certain products from participating retailers, scan the product UPC and your receipt and get cash back in your Ibotta account  At $5.00, you can cash out with PayPal.  And yes, it’s even possible to get cash back on items for which you only paid tax!  Some stores don’t even require a scanned receipt if your loyalty card is linked to your Ibotta account!

Walgreens for the witching hour

photo.JPG

I love Saturday afternoon/evenings at Walgreens when the next week’s sales overlap the current ones!  Purex is B1G2 free and next week’s price is $4.79.  Run it in sets of 6, use 3 of the $1/2 coupons from 8/4r2 (no beeps).  Use 5,000 of your stupid loyalty points and pay $1.58 plus high tax.  All Purex scents are part of the sale plus the 18ct pouches.

New Nature Made printables – use at Walgreens this week!

This week Walgreens has B1G 50% off on all Nature Made vitamins/supplements. I know we’ve had a lot of sales recently, but when you’re trying to stock up, it sure doesn’t help when the stores don’t carry more than 3 or 4 of a variety – I mean, what kind of inventory control is that?

$5.00 off when you buy $25 of Nature Made products
$2.00 off any two (2) Nature Made Items

Drugstores – CVS & Wags

photo.JPG

Picked up eight more Revlon Colorsilk hair color at CVS using the B1G1 50% off sale, the $2 mfr coupons, a $3 ecb that printed on a previous vitamin purchase and a $6 off $30+ in beauty products that arrived via my email. Paid $3.22 ’cause it’s all high tax stuff.

This is such a good price I’m heading back out to Walgreens to pick up a few more of the Lysol products.  They’re 2/$5 with 500 loyalty points given and there’s a $2/2 Lysol coupon in the Walgreens Cold and Flue booklet.  I got 4 of the large spray bottles and two wipes canisters along with four Gain dish soap for $9.91 (subtract $1.50 in points earned & you’re paying $1.40 a product).  and I know, I know, nobody is gonna believe I’m that clean…
