Dominicks tonight

Picked up six more of the DiGiorno pizzas, 3 Edy’s ice creams and ten POMS at the Danada Square Dominicks.  Could have taken more of the POM, but wasn’t sure I’d like it (not that this has ever stopped me in the past).  The stuff is delicious!!!  okay, enough with the exclamation marks.  Total was $20.60, which isn’t too bad for all that.  As I said earlier, the pizza price is better at Dominicks than Jewel.  Even though the Thursday sale price is gone, the regular sale price is only $3.99 and there is no limit (but a limit to our freezer space, unfortunately).

The DiGiorno $2/2 coupon expires tomorrow, February 5th, so move fast if you want this deal.  The Buy 2 Get Edy’s goes through the 8th, but hey, why spend extra bucks?

Jewel (almost) free deli & PetSmart clearance

The Thursday Jewel ad has a BOGO store coupon on 1/2 lb packages of DiLussa lunch meat or cheese.  There is also a $1 manufacturer coupon on 1 1/2 lb in the 1/29 S.  Since one is a store and the other is a manufacturer coupon, you can stack them both for some really, really cheap deli.  I picked up 14 packs of meat and cheese in approximately 1/2 lb weights and my total OOP was $13.22.

Note:  The store coupon is limit one coupon per transaction (the second one just does not scan), so you must break each transaction down into two 1/2 lb packs; they have stacks of the $1 manufacturer coupons on many of the deli counters, but they are the new coupons with the one bar code and will not scan at SCOT.  What we did was use the insert $1 to scan and then inserted the goofy coupons into the slot.  Makes it go much faster.

Next was PetSmart, where I had heard that they were clearancing out certain varieties of Mighty Dog for 27¢ a can.  I bought three full cases of 24 cans each and used six of the $2 coupons from 1/29 R1 (dog cover).  Total OOP was $9.46.

Credit to MUM for the DiLussa tip.

Jewel

Ran a last couple of the doubler transactions – only took cereal and almonds and you see here both transactions.  First one was for six cans of Blue Diamond almonds, which dropped to 50¢ a can after doubling the $1 coupon, 1 lb bag of organic baby carrots (free with cat PITA found), organic bananas (free with cat PITA found), Essential Everday (free with cat PITA found) and a quart of Dean’s heavy whipping cream (they substituted this for the light cream that was on sale but out of stock).  Total OOP was $6.82, which I paid for with my rapidly declining balance Jewel gift card.

Second transaction was easy peasy:  Four boxes of Cheerios and one of Frosted Toast Crunch (ugh).  After the doubles I paid $1.60 from the Jewel gift card.

New cereal IPs for Jewel

Use the two $1 Cherios Peanut Butter, the two 75¢ off Dulce de Leche Cheerios and any other coupons you can pull from the various inserts.  Click on the Find Coupons page on top to see other IPs from Smart Source, etc.

If you have access to more than one computer, you can buy five cereals for $10 and use the Jewel doubler coupon (last day) with the $1 Cheerios PB to get it for FREE.  If you have only one computer, work out your own numbers – hey, maybe your family hates the Peanut Butter flavor anyway, and you only want the Dulce de Leche ones.

If your store doesn’t have any more of the doubler coupon ads, print out two copies from the Jewel Facebook site.

Jewel, yet again

Stopped in at Jewel for a few Irish Spring deodorants and some pickles for PITA.  Pickles were $2.19, so .69 a jar after the doubler coupons.  I don’t know where I got the idea they were $1.69…but life will go on paying .50 more.  So basically, I paid a buck because I had a $1 Lean Cuisine cat that PITA found.

While there, I found out that the Lisle Jewel had decided to put a stack of the ads with the doubler coupons over by the door for people to help themselves.  They had originally been kept behind the customer service counter and handed out pretty liberally.  Beth also emailed me that the Jewel Facebook site has 3 doubler coupons on a page that can be printed twice (this link goes right to the print site).  If you’re nowhere near the Lisle Jewel and your local Jewel either never got the ads or they’re miserly about giving them out, print your six coupons (per computer).

Jewel doubler coupons

I’m not too thrilled about this latest double coupon non-promotion – the prices, for the most part, are way too high to make it good even with $2 off!  Having said that, there are a couple of EXCELLENT deals to grab with both hands:

Activia yogurt four packs.  The price dropped to 2/$4, so using the $1 from 1/15 S (Tylenol cover) will make it free.  This is probably our favorite yogurt, so it’s stock up time.

Blue Diamond almonds are on sale for 2/$5.  Use the $1 from 1/29 S for 50¢ nuts.  Given the paucity of deals and coupon values lately, another grab with two hands deal.  I grabbed five cans of these yesterday and will definitely be taking more.

Irish Spring deodorant is on sale for $1.99, so use the $1 in 1/29 S and it’s FREE.

Suave deodorant is on sale for $1.50, so use the .75 coupon from 1/6 rp and it’s FREE.

VLASSIC pickles are $1.69 (I’ve read), so use the .75 from 1/29s for .19 jars.  I’ll probably get a few jars of these, since PITA is a pickle fan.

Since I’m limited (slightly) by the five coupons per person per day rule, I’m stocking up mostly on the yogurt.  Each order of five will be .09 as a low tax item.  I can live with that.

The organic baby carrots were paid for with a FREE cat that PITA found – go PITA!  Keep an eye on the clearance carts because there was a ton of Pedigree Good Bites and Purina chews.  I took the clams and bamboo shoots.  And we always get tortillas when they’re fresh – and El Milagro is our favorite (insert space for product sponsor here).

2012 Jewel freezer coupons list

I’m bumping up this entire post because there are some readers who might have missed it last night.

Here are the coupons in the booklet that comes with the freezer this year – All coupons, both store and manufacturer, have expiration dates of 6/30/2012.  I’ve listed them as they appear in the book, so Free follows Save $ in no particular order.  S indicates STORE coupon and M is MANUFACTURER coupon.  Remember, store coupons reduce the amount on which we pay taxes while manufacturer coupons are just another form of payment, so tax on the full amount.  The freezer will sell for $159.99 and Jewel puts the value of their coupons at $160.  I believe the freezers will be available for sale starting February 5 (Sunday), since that’s when they always start.  Check your local store to see how many they will be getting.  As always, any mistakes or omissions are undoubtedly my own fault.

red plum IPs

Many of the red plum coupons are for $1, which should help with Jewel.  I see Voskos Greek yogurt, Mrs. T’s pierogis and Quaker chewy granola bars, among lots of others.  And who knows?  Even if you didn’t get the doubler coupons, they might just appear from a friend or relative.

Jewel doubler coupons

Surprisingly enough, none of my eight delivered papers contained any grocery ads – NONE!  I don’t recall this ever happening before, but the Goddess isn’t unhappy in the least because it’s too much work to try to find a deal at Jewel within the next few days.  I’ve read comments on other sites about “deals” that just aren’t.  If you find yourself buying things for more than you’re used to paying “’cause you have the doubler coupons,” then Jewel corporate has won and we’ll be seeing more of these non-deals and stupid Win Big promotions in the future.

If you do get anything really, really good, though, pretty please shoot me an email with pix and I’ll be thrilled to post.

Jewel Big Game playbook

To add to their non-sales lineup, Jewel has introduced a non-coupon book.  While there are a lot of $1 coupons…they’re store coupons and Jewel won’t double them.  Pick up a book or two – the Lisle Jewel had a cardboard display by customer service/SCOT lanes and I’m sure you can find them at other stores.   Frankly, it seems that the book is mostly recipes, pretty folks doing fun stuff…and lots and lots of booze rebates (probably why they all look so happy).
