CVS – you’re looking good!

Spend $15, get back $5 ecb when you buy Dove or Lever Bros. products.  I really like this new Dove line, especially the shampoo and conditioning treatments.

Each shampoo/conditioner was $3; I purchased six in each transaction using both the BOGO and .75 from 9/25 rp. Paid using a $3 ecb from last week’s Hershey bar promo and a $1 ecb that printed from the Magic Coupon Machine.   Total was $3.84 and I got back $5 ecb for each transaction.

Wags – Butera – CVS

and a pleasant experience was had by all!!!

Wags was the last day for the 15% library card discount, so took the twelve Colgate Optic White boxes left and about 70 packs of Mentos…oh, and one lousy Quattro cartridge ’cause the coupon was in the Trib and I got a buncha rock inserts (insert ugly mean face here).  Worked out okay, since I would pay $5 and get back a $6 RR …and lots and lots of toothpaste.

Butera had Granny Smith apples for .99, so we packed up a bag to go with the cheese chunks.  They have a pretty decent selection of cheese flavors:  mozzarella; sharp cheddar; medium cheddar; monterrey jack; co-jack; colby jack; pepper jack (boy, that jack sure gets around); muenster…i forget the rest.  Remember, you get 4 for $5 or $2.50 A POUND!  Of course, you could pick up five of the Kraft punys at Jewel for $5 and have less than one pound…your choice.  Personally, I feel it’s a bad use of your free gift card.  and I did not take a picture of boring stacks of cheese.

Hope we don't get any trick or treaters this year!

Then CVS…You all know about my love/hate relationship with CVS.  The relatively new store at Ogden and Naper Blvd is clean and the people who work here are über-friendly, and I really, really want to give them business. They just never have stock!  And while I could love them to death as people, lack of stock is the deal-killer for me.  So you can imagine my surprise when I hit them up on my last shopping leg of the day that not only did the cashier remember me from the non-supply of Air Wick deal a few weeks ago, she had stock for me AND boxes upon boxes of the Hershey chocolate bars.  Sweet(pun intended)  You are looking at about 150 chocolate bars..hehehehehe.  Obviously I couldn’t eliminate all costs (high taxes, thank you rat bastard Q), but I ended up about $18 OOP.  Oh, I forgot…that included a gallon of Dean’s milk.

CVS and Wags – home again, home again…

Okay, on the CVS Hershey bar deal:  I bought 13 and paid with 7 of the coupons.  Looking

15 is the magic number

at my receipt, I see I could have added another one and then gotten one more free.  crap… paid $3.16 (.78 was tax) and got back $3 ecb for having purchased Hershey products.  Next set I’ll do it right (I hate their cash registers with the up and down and up and down amounts).

On the Wags picture, you are seeing just a few of the packs of gum I will be buying…yes, i do have a ton of coupons.  One thing I noticed in the ZarBees, though – I opened up a box to see what they were like and there is a $1 coupon good on any ZarBee product with an expiration date of January 3, 2013.  Keep rolling that coupon and making yourself a little extra cash (my 15% library discount earns quite a bit of cash). But since the world will be ending the end of December, that won’t matter…

Quick post ’cause we’re off to the 3 pm matinee.  Longer post upon return.  CVS has the Hershey bars B2G1 – use the 8/28 S BOGO coupon.  I bought a ton and made money (after ecbs).

Wags – the Mentos IVC is NOT scanning, so make sure your cashier manually enters .49 for each one.  The Schick Quattro men’s razor coupons (IPs) scan beautifully for the cartridges (the women’s cartridges are part of the sale, but the men’s don’t appear).  Everything worked well and all required RRs printed.

CVS coupon insert

I’m sure you’ve all see that coupon insert from CVS in your Sunday paper, the one that says Get extra savings (shows big scissors).  Mostly mfr coupons with a handful of store ones, all with 10/1/11 exp. dates.   Odd thing is that I never get the CVS ad in my paper, probably because there is one located less than two miles down the road…

Monday freebies

Like Groupon and/or world peace on FB and get a $5 credit.

Like CVS and click on the special offers and get a coupon for a free candy bar or beverage.  Like I need either of those lately…

Round and about shopping

My first stop was actually CVS for the Air Wick – figured by now they’d restock, right?  Yeah, two CVS stores, same thing – or lack of same thing, your choice.  And this is why I find their latest corporate statement ironic.  I paraphrase here, but CVS will not allow customers to clear the shelves of product.  Ah, yeah, two people fighting over the one can of whoopass left on the shelf.  It’s a non-issue for CVS, folks – they have no stock to clear!  Which is why my heart belongs to Walgreens.

where I picked up five of the Scrubbing Bubble One-Step toilet bowl cleaners.  A couple of the local stores are participating in the National Library Card promotion, so 15% comes off the top of any price.  In this case, the $8.99 price was reduced to $7.64.  Subtract the $4 coupon from 9/11 S and you’re at $3.64.  Out pops the $2 RR and you’ve paid $1.64 plus high tax.  I wanted to roll this with the Crest Complete, but this Wags said they hadn’t received any in three weeks.  I’m telling you, these Wags warehouses are getting kickbacks from CVS: It’s the only possible explanation…

Then drove to the 75th Ultra. If I have to hit up an Ultra, this is the one I like – the Lombard one is filled with too many freaky-deakies.  I took 20 containers of LOL cinnamon spread…it was all they had.  The case of 12 has already been placed in the freezer.  Now, I’m not crazy about this .94 price for 6.5 ounces, frankly, but when you’re lazy and just want some toast or a light topping on pancakes…

Wags and Jewel and cvs (pah)

Hit up the Wags in Lisle for a few more Trident Vitalitys.  Threw in a clearance eyeliner (.17) and used one of the $3 Crest RRs, so my OOP was only $1.52.

Decided to drive across the street to Jewel to pick up just a few (YES – JUST A FEW) of those Chiquita Bites, because they are so very, very tasty!  I’ve got a special order of 50 coming in, so want enough to tide us over.  I usually like my pineapple with little umbrellas, but hey, the natural stuff ain’t bad at all.  What’s better than Trident Vitality at .79 with a $2/3 coupon?  Trident Vitality on clearance for .50!  woot!!!  Used the overage to pay for my Almond Roca, also on clearance.  PITA also picked up Free cats for eggs and potato chips.

Note on Jewel clearance items:  Not all items will be reduced at the same time or even for the same amount.  While the Almond Roca was priced at $2.50 and the Trident .50, your store may have higher or lower prices or maybe not even have them on sale at all.

CVS – why do i even bother…

CVS and Wags

My life is just a whirlwind of activity today!  First stop was CVS, because I had read that the Magic Coupon Machine was spitting out $2 coupons off shampoo.  VO5 is .89 (free hand soap) so you could pick up a couple for free.  HA! I say!  repeat…Tried a couple of cards (oh, don’t act like you only have one card) and gave up.  However, the second card spit out a $5 ecb because apparently all the little Lumene jars I’ve been “buying” have reached a $50 threshold.   At that point I decided to see what was not on the shelves.  They did have a couple of the .5 Freeze Time Lumene jars, but I’m not a big fan of this one.  A friend had raved about their cleansing wipes for removing makeup, especially the 10 ct packs because she could throw them in her bag when traveling.  so i took them all and if she wants any more in the Chicagoland area, she’s gonna have to shop my basement!  bwahahahahah. Wipes are $3.19, so used the overage, plus the $5 ecb plus another coupon to pay for the regular size of the Lumene Vitamin C cream and ended up paying $2.22 – and then got a $5 rewards for buying the Lumene!  I was not lying about this stuff.  It’s great and I will be hitting them hard and heavy.

Then off to Wags (not one of my usuals) for the Trident Vitality gum:  24 of them.  While I don’t like paying for gum in any amount, we go through a lot in this house o’ cud.  Total came to $4.33, of which 1.37 was tax.  Since the coupon is worded buy 3 get $X off, I was unable to use any of my RRs from Crest since each coupon was already attached to an item and I would have had to buy something additional.  Sometimes it’s a toss-up, but in this case I just spent the cash.

CVS – grrrrr

Wanted to make a few extra bucks on the John Frieda deal at CVS; yes, I know, it’s the couponer’s definition of insanity.  Spend $20 and get $10 ecb.  I picked up 2 of what I thought were the $6 somethings (only ’cause that what was in the spot with the tag!) and an $8 item, to bring me up to $20.  Use 3 of the $5/1 from 6/5 S, plus a $5 beauty rewards coupon that spit out of the magic coupon machine and I would be paying 0 and getting back $10 ecb.  Yeah…Not only did they all ring up at $8, the $10 ecb did not print.  So back to the shelf with the cashier and her scanner to locate the $6 products – one left.  So you see here $22 in sale price products.

Unfortunately, the register would not let her refund all my money, she had to put it on a gift card.  So I ended up paying for the new order with the gift card and having a couple of bucks remain on it.  Which I take exception to, since I used cash on the original transaction.  And since the $10 didn’t print on the second transaction, either, the cashier had to force it out.  Unbe-fucking-lievable!  OOP was $2 + high tax to get back $10 in ecbs.

and this is why wags still gets my business…

Coupon Dede

Don’t forget that the sweet 20% off sale ends tomorrow, July 9 at midnight.  I just put in an order for 100 of the Lumene $4 coupons, since it’s looking reallll good for Wags (I’ve been working on this for weeks now and it’s just killing me to not be able to spill my guts).  If all else fails with Walgreens, I still will be able to clear out all the area CVS stores (you are now getting what I call fair warning), since it’s not an ecb item and thus, no limits.  I totally love the Vitamin C one and considering I’m picking up an amount equivalent to a full jar for $1…yeah, it pays to stock up.

I also put in a “small” order for the MotrinPM, since I only have about 36 inserts from that week.  well, i think that’s all, but i haven’t yet started clipping.
