New Page on swaps

No, you pervs, coupons!  Beth suggested that we have a page set up for readers to post what coupons they have and what they are looking for.  Use the search box and see what comes up.  Mind you, I am not setting this up as a way for anyone to sell their coupons – I’m not even talking about the legal phrases here – but a way to exchange diaper coupons for Tena pads or whatevers.  Post what you are looking for and what you have to trade and quantities of each.

If anyone is looking for recently expired coupons, I have a very good eBay Seller who is cheap and fast (kinda like my cooking).  Contact me for her info and if enough people ask, I’ll post it.

Miller rebates

I’d say piss on ’em but I think that’s where it comes from in the first place (naturally-brewed) …

Just got off the phone with both the Miller/Coor rebates fulfillment house and the consumer affairs office for Miller/Coors/HampsterPiss…  Apparently their fulfullment house will not honor the Miller rebate because coupon use brought the total down below $100.  Now, I could just as easily have purchased everything without coupons and then marched over to customer service with those same coupons, but honestly, what difference does it make to Miller?  Paying with a FREE coupon or a Wags RR doesn’t make it less of a grocery trip, does it?  So this will be one beer company that I will easily pass on for the rest of my natural born life – and only the good die young, Miller/Coors/GoatPflegm.

Presents from the mailman

You see the three t-shirts from Tanga I just couldn’t resist and the FREE sample of just 6 Nutrish dog food; a Maidenform box is slightly out of camera range.  Another box came from Amazon, but not for me, so who knows what lurks inside???  I told you I found those t-shirt amazing.

Brita rebate update – good news!

The following appeared on the Brita FilterForGood Facebook Wall: “Hi Brita fans! Great news to report: We will be honoring all the mail-in rebates that were recently available! We apologize for all the inconvenience this caused. Thanks for you patience and sticking with Brita. Enjoy your rebates!”

If you really want a laugh, read some of the posts from people who do not see why anyone would ever get upset over not getting a rebate – totally miss the point.

Custom Couponing T-shirt

Here’s shot of PITA (wearing an extremely pissed expression because I told her she couldn’t dance around and because I wouldn’t put her head in the shot) wearing this cool t-shirt one of my readers made.  I chose red and extra large.

Comments, people?

Couponing etiquette

I really shouldn’t have to post this, but here it is:  If you place a special order, you must pick up your special order.  What don’t you understand?  Doesn’t matter what store or what product.  If something comes up (you don’t get your coupons or decide you don’t need the item or picked it up somewhere else), your first call is to the store to ask if they  have enough other buyers to take up the slack.  If the answer is no, then you either high-tail it over or you end up on The List.  Stores actually maintain a list of people who have placed special orders in the past and didn’t claim them.  Try ordering from them again and your order will not come in (won’t even get placed, but you’ll never know). Remember, you are giving them your name and phone number, so even those of you using an alias will eventually run out of names and numbers…

Remember that Angel Soft/Healthy Choice soup cat at Jewel?  The HC price spread was giving up incredible amounts of overage, which we were all applying to toilet paper.  I had a large order of this expensive toilet paper come in…with a notice that the warehouse had suppressed all the HC soup.  I paid a ton for that toilet paper.  Was I pissed – puhleez, but had I not picked it up I would have effectively burned my relationship with Jewel.  And if you think it’s easy to find stores to work with you on special orders, take another hit off that crack pipe.

Digital Doorstep declares bankruptcy

Well, who’s Digital Doorstep anyway?  Just a deal site used by Eversave, Saveology, plum district…you get the idea.  This is the site that actually furnished the gift cards being promoted on all those various deals (cards like Subway, Fandango…)

Here’s a nice little (short) article that sums up what you should do if you’re waiting on one of those gift cards:   Digitall Doorstep Declares Bankruptcy.

internet Workers of the World untie

In a show of solidarity with Wiki, Mozilla/Firefox, Craigslist, WordPress and many blogs (including MUM) that will be dark today and Google (which will be “censored”), I will be off this site until 7 pm central (and yes it’s gonna hurt me, guys).  I will still be posting, but everything will be scheduled to publish at 7 pm.  Any comments will be answered in real time.

and yes, i know i spelled unite wrong…i’ve just gotta stick some humor in there

Sopa??? hint: it ain’t the soup

Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), also known as House Bill 3261 or H.R. 3261 is the big stick that’s being waved around like I wave my whiffle bat at the moosies – they both make a lot of noise, but I would never actually whack anyone with it.  And the whiffle bat people aren’t paying me off:  Therein lies the difference.

Starting in 90 minutes, Wikipedia will go dark for 24 hours to protest this attempted muzzling of more of our free speech rights – well the ones that haven’t already been trampled on by the Patriot Act (and don’t even get me started on a law that requires libraries to tell government officials what you’ve been checking out on your card, but prevents that same library from notifying you about it – I used to run searches on political assassinations just to dick around ).  So here’s the linky to MUM‘s site because she’s got all the deets and I’m lazy and going to bed to read about Harry Truman’s Excellent Road Trip.  Ah, 1953:  The Good Old Days…good if you were a middle-class, white male, that is.

Oh, and I’d advise downloading Soapy, a plug-in that works on Firefox:

Soapy works by automatically redirecting users to the website’s server directly. It replaces the DNS system entirely for these blocked websites.

Domain Name Servers match domains like Google.com to their server’s IP address (in this case http://74.125.224.72/ ). This process is usually invisible to the user, but you can access Google’s site by using their IP address as well.

I like to plan ahead. This is why I download coupons and rebate forms well in advance of need.  it’s my justincase mentality

EC Allstars

Finally sat down to watch Season 3 of Extreme Couponing.  This time around it’s a battle between two coupon “superstars,” Carla and Faatima (you might remember her as the large family from Detroit who want to move to Hawaii and ship their stockpile…which would be the cheaper part of their airfare, if you catch my meaning, if you get my drift).  These two women have been couponing for maybe a year (insert woot here) and they know it all.  So this season the idea is to pit two of these self-proclaimed couponing queens against each other to spend at least $500 with a minimum of 16 different items purchased; winner is determined by how large a percentage is taken off the total through coupon usage.  All groceries purchased are donated to charity and the winner proceeds to the next level with the final prize being:  The Golden Shopping Cart.  i kid you not… cue willy wonka music

Barely half-way into the show and PITA’s saying “why are we watching this?  It’s boring.”  And I can hardly answer between yawns.  Yes, it’s that boring.  Both are shopping in double coupon stores, which only pisses me off, frankly.  Even without that bit, though, I’d have to say two thumbs down ’cause it’s boring as hell – I’d rather wash my kitchen floors..
