Happy 4th of July!

slider_fireworksPhoto is from Eyes to the Skies, the annual Lisle hot air balloon festival/craft fair/carnival. We get there between noon and 3 to get our hands stamped for free entrance, walk around and check out the food (and coupons!), then return later for the fireworks. That’s been the pattern for years, but since the weather is so mild, we might stay a bit longer this afternoon (usually it’s hot and sticky – you know, typical July in Chicago weather). Other change is DH is working out of town this week and that’s a first as well – positive side to that is PITA and I can stop at each and every craft stall in peace!

we ask Siri…

downloadOn the off-chance that Siri isn’t trying to kill you (long story, but that bitch is always trying to wipe me out), here are a couple of questions to put to her/him/it:

1.  When is the world going to end?
2.  What is zero divided by zero?
3.  Does Santa Claus exist?
4.  What’s the best computer; tablet; cell phone?
5.  What’s your favorite baseball team?
6.  Are you human?

wanna crowdfund this?

See, all I need is $500,000 and … oh wait, they only want a Promissory Note to release my funds. Heck, anybody who knows me wouldn’t give me a 5¢ loan on a 10¢ gumball with a nickel down, so I gots no problems with this puppy!  Forget crowdfunding – this sucker’s all mine…bwahahahahahaha *cough*

From Mr. James Davis
My name is Mr. James Davis, Director Zenith Bank Nigeria Plc I am contacting based on a recent meeting held with the Office of the Presidency, Federal Republic of Nigeria in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Finance and Senate committee Budget Planning  Unite, National House of Assembly-Federal Republic of Nigeria. After the meeting, it was agreed that you will receive a “Part Payment” of Eighteen Million United States Dollars Only {US$18,000,000.00} out of your long complicated outstanding payment.
Why we did this, is because according to information gathered from the banks computer, you have been waiting for a long time to receive your money without success, as I found out that you have almost met all the statutory requirements of the Zenith Bank, in respect of your contract payment, your problem is that of interest groups. Happy (Grilling) Father’s Day

Hope you all enjoyed the great weather today – a nice change from the rains of the past few weeks!  Here’s a couple of pictures of family & friends enjoying the fruits of the grill.  Or would that be the fruits of the Griller!
Happy fathers day

let it rain, let it rain, let it rain — not!

Although the ground is incredibly soggy (DH asked FirstBorn to cut the grass – – hah! I’m thinking of planting rice this growing season.), we dodged the flood bullet.  Here’s the narrow little river, usually so shallow you could walk across in capris and keep dry.

McDonald’s June calendar of freebies

photo.JPGPicked up this handy-dandy calendar from McDonalds with all these great promotions!  PITA and I enjoyed two large chocolate milkshakes for $3 during the BOGO chocolate shake special for National Chocolate Ice Cream Day (i only got mine for cherry nutrients)  Next “Holiday” is National Iced Tea Day on Wednesday (6/10) where you get a free iced tea with any purchase.  Lots of other restaurants have similar promotions.

I wonder if we’re supposed to fly the flag on these Holidays…

PITA my DIVA!

unnamedIt’s no secret that PITA and I are Broadway musical addicts! In addition to our trips to NYC (one is coming up in July), we’ve had season tickets to Wheaton Drama for a number of years – first row main aisle seats.  Wheaton puts on one hell of a show, folks!  This year’s season finale is Monty Python’s Spamalot and guess who was pulled out of the audience to participate!  One cast member said if he was in danger of forgetting lines, all he had to do was look in PITA’s direction ’cause she was doing songs and dialogue…we bad

Good deals @ Goodwill

photo.JPGStopped in for a book, ’cause I only have 36 checked out from the library and a few hundred more in my little library room – – I was feeling pain!  These screen protectors were bundled 4 to a pack for iPhone 3, what PITA has.  The Vera Bradley purse (new) was $4.99 and this wonderful teapot was just what I needed to replace a great glass one which floated away two years ago.  Heck, this teapot might even work better, but the other was a gift from a dear friend, so that part sucks.  Total for everything was $10.14…damned high tax!

I miss Dominicks – take that, Jewel!

From dominicks Just opened this squeeze bottle of mango preserves I found on my basement shelves and couldn’t figure out where it (and the Goya guava preserves next to it) had come from until I remembered:  Dominicks closing clearance.  FYI, expiration date is August 2015!

I miss Dominicks!  If the Jewel weekly ad gets any duller it’ll be registered as a sleeping aid.

Here’s this week’s inserts – 3!

20150528_080538.jpgSmartSource, redplum and the June P&G.  Good enough that I’d grab extras from Menards or Dollar Tree or other dollar stores.  ’cause the way it works is that nothing jumps out at you at the time of purchase, but a couple of weeks down the road you kick yourself when some huge moneymaker appears.  If you can’t get a buck’s worth of product from three inserts, you deserve to pay full price!
