dinner & flood the bath time

PITA and I stopped to check out the Swag Suite (Exchange) one more time before we went out to eat.  Expo ended about 5 or so – there was an off-site closing party (BlogHer provided shuttles) featuring Boys 2 Men.  While this might be a big deal for some people, PITA had no idea of who they were (she might have read it in an ancient history text), while I would have been alive before their infant stage.  So the first go-round to the suite was a big, fat goose egg.  Unbelievable!  On the way out to dinner we stopped and the door was locked (not unexpected).  PITA walked down the corridor a bit where there were women working on tables – – some sort of networking group attached to the show who welcomed us in and said we could have as much as we wanted of any of the bags along the window counter…we shoots, we scores!  Here is a picture from last night after considerable consolidation:
photo 4.JPGThen off to dinner at Joe’s Shanghai Restaurant, only a few blocks from here – the streets are not as busy here at night as further south – only saw one nail salon and it closed early at 10! Sheesh, how to they stay in business! Here’s the dinner we shared: hot and sour soup and an order of Singapore mai fun (it’s called by slightly different names at different restaurants and in different cities). photo 1.JPG

Oh, and the flood part? PITA came out of the bathroom (I was in bed), asking if I’d ever gotten water on the floor. I assured her I had and most people drip something after a shower…then I realized that I had taken a bath and there wouldn’t be water coming down from anywhere, so I got up and found she had forgotten to put the shower curtain on the inside of the tub…she’d put four hand towels on the floor and prayed for a drought.

I got up immediately and used four large bath towels and the bath mat and one other bath towel for the finish work…Throw in those four hand towle and the bath tub looks like the home where soggy ole towels so to die. I hope Martha (our extraordinary housekeeper) doesn’t kill us… PITA. Note sure whether I should get the employees discount or billed if the ceiling underneath collapses…

BlogHer2015 – Saturday

photo 1.JPGHey, at least I still have my teeth! photo 2.JPGOkay, this is a cool one.  La Roche-Posay booth had tons of skincare/sunscreen samples (and full-size products) stressing the importance of sunscreen protection.  I pointed out that not only had I never used sunscreen, I made sure to use night moisturizers during the day because they don’t have sunscreen – no the slightly chance I’ll ever suffer from vitamin D deficiency!

Naturally they were thrilled to put me in the machine to show the error of my ways.  Imagine their shock at the last picture – – which showed practically no sun damage whatsoever.  Almost – not quite – comparable to PITA, who’s been slathered in sunscreen since she was a baby.

Ha and double ha!  If I do develop melanoma on my face, I’ll have them cut it out, tighten the remaining skin and have BC/BS pay for my facelift on the cheap!  see, always thinking…

Nekkid peoples – part 2

There’s actually no nekkid peoples involved, but I hooked you in so it works for me.  The first draft of this post disappeared completely when I hit publish.  Feel like Abe must have felt like when Mary tossed his speech into the recycling bin just before he boarded the train to Gettysburg and had to rough it out on that envelope scrap…

Loot so far…and no, I brought the Ice Mountain from home
photo.JPGphoto.JPG photo 2.JPGI understand she’s now available for private parties – DH asked me to book one for him…heck, even I could do that after a couple bottle of Everclearphoto 4.JPGPITA’s audition shot – DH says it’s disgusting, he’s calling the police and DCFS…PITA just laughed…said she’s 19 This following picture is actually a video of the can can dance, so click away. photo 3.JPGThis isFwd: Peggy & Ryan 7.12.15photo 4.JPGphoto.JPGDisco PITA photo.JPG

New freebie launch – Claim It!

photo.JPGThere’s a new freebie start-up called Claim It! We found the truck while wandering around the city.  I’ll get more and deliver on the deets later. Suffice to say it’s an APP (currently available on Apple only) and PITA and I got two free Vita Coco and Kettle Chips…or maybe it was just to go away. either way, free chips!!! Oh, cute guy is named Robert and he just broke up with his girlfriend.

Pictures from Getting Gorgeous

Yeah, I know they can’t improve on me!  I was just there to observes!  that’s my story and i’m sticking to it!

photo.JPGPITA with makeup from a professional – strange, isn’t it, how they can put on so much and make it look like there is nothing but your natural beauty? Totally impressed! photo 1.JPG
Free manicures! Great job and nice assortment of Essie nail colors. Yeah, the rent would kill me living here – – but think of how much I could save on nail care!

photo 2.JPGNo, PITA’s not starting drinking at this hour…that would be her mother! This is root beer with a 5.9% alcohol content. Oh, and it tastes great (not that this would be the deciding factor if you have kids). photo.JPGphoto.JPGAlso had a few (okay more than a few…hey, who are you anyway, the booze police?) of this Cocktail Caviar. Little balls filled with flavored booze! I tried peach and blueberry flavors. Had little plastic spoons for serving…looked all over but couldn’t find those huge diameter tapioca bubble drink straws. photo 2.JPGphoto 3.JPGBead stall – among other things. photo.JPGLiquid Oxygen is a new skincare line for acne-prone and occasional breakouts, etc. I have a bag with the products, but haven’t had time (ha!) to go through any of the stuff yet. It does look promising, since it doesn’t contain any of that drying stuff that makes you look like King Tut’s mommy.

Out and about NYC

We came a few days in advance of both blogging conferences – take in a few show, walk about 150 miles…the usual.  Here’s a few pictures from today

We were given one of the newly remodeled rooms – The old “classic” ones were great but these new ones have a ton more outlets for life’s necessities!Hilton. - gabby says nyc feels like coming home

Wags is pretty much a suckfest and prices are insane – even the 150,000 Falal meat trucks ain’t cheap! Went into this fruit/deli little shop ’cause we wanted some iced tea. No prices on anything except the salad bar (which looked amazing). Decided to grab the bit of blueberries pictured – Pita had a bag of Skinny Girl popcorn, but again, no prices. I ask the cashier how much for the popcorn – $5.99. How much for the (5 oz) container of dried beets – $5.99. I said, dude, I’m sensing a pattern here and if you tell me the blueberries are $5.99 I’m gonna have to hurt you. They were closer to $7. sigh.  Stopped at McDonalds where the sweet tea was a buck.

Pictures from on the road

Got in late last night to Youngston – lost along the way – think my car was just trying to escape.  Brief thoughts: Indiana was completely back up…on the way out – completely understandable. Ohio is pretty and pretty much under construction. Obviously it’s the construction guys putting out the orange lane barrels and reduced speed signs ’cause they haven’t finished the first to get around to the last! Here’s a couple of pictures from along the way:

Apparently everyone gets lost!Gas station was so used to people missing exits and getting lost that they had pre-printed instructions for getting back on the toll road! When you have giant trucks blocking exit signs…. Free shower with 50 gallons of gas
Neat idea – showers! This truck stop (very, very clean, as have been all the rest areas) has a loyalty program where 50 gallons gets you a stamp/punch for a free body wash! Even better than a car wash, huh?

On the road again – NYC, here we come!

o-hillbilly1Leaving this morning for NYC and not one, but TWO, blogging conventions:  BlogHer2015 and BloggerBash – both set for the same couple of days – what a coincidence!  Also have tickets to The Book of Mormon (think I’ll find religion?  nah, neither do I), On the Town and It Shoulda Been You – thinking about one more.  Seeing preview of Ant-Man as well.

I’m taking PITA this trip, to continue my family annoyance factor, and will be posting along the way.  Stopping overnight near Youngston, OH ’cause I just can’t get enough of that annoying orange color scheme at Motel 6 – are their corporate decorators color blind, or what?  Easier to just issue all guests orange-tinted glassed (as in the Wonderful Wizard of Oz book).

I think we’ve packed everything…
