Free Birthday Cake

Apparently you can get a mini Bundt cake for two on your birthday when you join the Patrón Social Club.  Hmmmm, well, why not?  Click here to register.  You get a choice of two flavors:  double dark chocolate chunk or orange almond (my choice).  Don’t forget to have a separate email account set up for all this freebie stuff, unless you love getting emails.

Pet Supplies Plus .85

Got a coupon for expensive Innova dog or cat food in the mail to be redeemed at Pet Supplies Plus only.  When I was there I asked about their policy of accepting other pet store coupons – they said no problem, so I used a $5 PetSmart coupon to buy the additional items in the photo.  My OOP was .85.  And, oh, yeah, I’ll be hitting the PetSmarts in the next few days…

Target -0-

They say a dollar doesn’t go very far now days – well, hell, it only needs to drive to Target! Picked up two more Air Wick candles, 3 sleepwear clearance items ($10/3 Target q), 13 Secret deodorants, 13 double-bar boxes of Olay bar soap, 8 Purina Whisker Lickins cat treats ($2/2 11/14 R1), and The Sims 3 for wii (price matched to Kmart ad). Original subtotal was about $130, but got down to $108 after the wii price match. Then the coupons came a’rolling along. The very nice cashier asked if I had any coupons. “Am I breathing?” She also remembered me from a previous visit (probably a month or two ago – scary). She was honestly thrilled to see my coupons and asked where I got them. I never have a problem with educating people about the value of the newspaper inserts and in this case I was able to tell her what week the various coupons came from.  it’s a talent i have...

After coupons? $15.88, which I paid using more of my $5 gift cards. I wish they could combine these, because it’s ridiculous to carry around a stack of them.

Things that sound dirty at Thanksgiving

1. Talk about a huge breast!
2. Tying the legs together keeps the inside moist.
3. It’s Cool Whip time!
4. If I don’t undo my pants, I’ll burst!
5. Whew, that’s one terrific spread!
6. I’m in the mood for a little dark meat.
7. Are you ready for seconds yet?
8. It’s a little dry, do you still want to eat it?
9. Just wait your turn, you’ll get some!
10. Don’t play with your meat.
11. Just spread the legs open and stuff it in.
12. Do you think you’ll be able to handle all these people at once?
13. I didn’t expect everyone to come at once!
14. You still have a little bit on your chin.
15. How long will it take after you stick it in?
16. You’ll know it’s ready when it pops up.
17. Wow, I didn’t think I could handle all of that!
18. That’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen!
19. How long do I beat it before it’s ready?

Jewel updates

Not gonna take a picture of Scotts toilet paper and the Pure Protein bars, even if it was all free – boring

Make sure you check with your local Jewel before heading out to pick up the BOGO DS games – not all stores are carrying them.  My store did not receive any games and may or may not get them during the sale period; I’ll check other locations later today and post back.  Also did not have any of the Halloween pillsbury tube cookies which other stores have been clearancing out (and which tie in beautifully with the $1/2 blinkies above them and the $3 cat.

Back from scavenging tour…crap on a stick!  Went to the 24 hr Jewel/Osco in Wheaton to see about the DS or wii games and the Pillsbury clearance cookies.  Steerike 3 and you’re out.  Seriously, no games whatsoever (old computer games which you see everywhere), no cookies.  but there were winetags everywhere…

It’s Another Groupon – woot! UPDATE

[ad#cj-1]  Update – If you were unable to access this link earlier today, you can blame Oprah.  Apparently she made favorable comments about this site today’s Groupon and the site crashed.  Read the article here.

this is sweet ’cause it’s clearance prices using a clearance voucher! Today’s second Groupon (after American Apparel) is for a $50 voucher to Nordstrom’s Rack (which just sounds soooo wrong) for $25. We’re lucky in the Chicago area because we have quite a few around: Northbrook, Oak Brook, Naperville… in-store purchases, limit 1 per person and expires December 31, 2010.

I recommend that you move quickly on this as they’ve already sold 5,000 and it’s a limited quantity (don’t know the limit).

Aldi

OK, it’s a running joke here that I can’t afford to shop Aldi.  No coupons means everyday low prices are a rip off.  Having said that, the one thing I really like there is the frozen wild-caught salmon fillets.  A new Aldi opened nearby and we received a $5/30 card which I felt compelled to use.  Sacrifice a coupon?  Blasphemy around these parts.  Picked up 8 of the salmon ($3.99/each) and two bags of fresh cranberries (.74/each).  I’ll probably pick up more cranberries at Jewel, but I’d never seen them outside their protective plastic bags.  Total was $28+ after the coupon.  Now I’m set for the next 6-9 months (or longer, if Jewel has another kick-ass Gorton sale).

And by the way?  The place was packed!

Blogging at Sears with MUM

Rachel got a little dealio from the Sears marketing people: $600 gc to spend on holiday presents for a fictional family of four and a Flipcam to record those purchases.  Purchases may be made online or in store.   Don’t know why such a nice person encourages my visits – oh, right, she needed someone to hold the camera…

Anyway, here are a few pix of our shopping (mis)adventures in Oak Brook.  Obviously my pictures of this shopping trip are somewhat different than her’s (hehehehehe).

Interesting price difference here between $30 sale and $30 regular price.

This is a size 16 lift-your-butt pair of jeans – aren’t they called flying buttresses by that point?

Sears now has “insane prices” shown all over the store.  Shades of Max Madsen!Sears has a ton of clearance uniform clothes, which might make a great idea for later this year and next.  Many public school require uniform-type clothes, navy or beige pants and skirts, white shirts/blouses and 50% with a large selection from which to choose is something to consider.

My favorite display of all:  Those meat and cheese prepacked holiday gifts.  These suckers go down 90% within days of Christmas, and I have no problem with taking more cheese home.  and i always like sausage…

Today’s Super Groupon – Update

Just got an email from the annoying people at Groupon:  this one day Groupon has been extended through the week-end AND has been modified so that it can be used in B&M stores in cities where there is one (well that only makes sense, right?)

For days Groupon has been sending out info on this new deal – making sure I know but can’t post.  Kind of do ask, don’t tell …

Get a $50 worth of American Apparel (“stuff”) for $25, online only and today only.   I might have to actually buy one of these for the PITA’s Christmas present, since she has to be “fashionable” now instead of just the old way – clean.
