BOGO pretzels

If the free pretzels from this morning’s deal weren’t enough, they are now offering a Auntie Anne’s BOGO deal.  I’ve already signed up for it and can almost hear those cinnamon/sugar babies calling to me  “come and get us, we love you, we won’t settle on your big fat ass…”  WTF?!  What kind of siren song are those pretzels singing, anyway?

Anyway, click and “order” this one.  Even though there’s no charge, they still ask for credit info.  It’s your choice whether you give them legit info or run a fake one (if it’s not run, how would they know?).  Me, I figure it’s easier to use legit stuff, ’cause then I don’t have to trot out the card every time I actually pick something requiring cash!  So far they’ve not tried to charge me, so it’s a risk I am comfortable taking.

Free Pretzels!

Today’s Buyzooka is for a FREE pretzel at Auntie Anne’s.  If you’re not already registered, do so and then hit “buy.”  The certificate will appear in your account as a purchase and a certificate/voucher will be mailed out.  I hate and loathe pretzels ordinarily, but sugar and cinnamon is da bomb!

Restaurant.com Weekly Promo Banner 120x90

So far a slow day…will head out to Wags in a bit ’cause I read about a possible killer deal.  We’ll see.  Also some great stuff on a Con Agra catalina deal at Jewel.  I like to stock up on the free Wesson oil once a year.  Get lots and we’re set.  One year I got what I needed, then suddenly family and friends all needed some.  I ran out!

To tide you over, here’s a little promo from restaurant.com with 80% codes.  They say that so many certificates were sold over the two-day sale that people “saved” $11,373,450!  I do hope that you all use the certificates you purchased.  And in case you’ve now tried them and want to buy more as holiday gifts (and hostess presents)…

Dinner

Tried out the breading – it rocks!  Dinner was sauteed salmon fillet, breaded catfish fillet and 5 massive chicken breasts (the poultry equivalent of Heidi Montag), all courtesy of Dominicks.  Actually, they were donated to us by a friend who came across the two 50% off fish packages and a .99/lb manager’s special on the chicken – and then used wine tags to pay!   Side dishes were GG steamed broccoli and a Zantarin rice combo.

So, what’re we talking about here for a total?  Maybe a buck?  For everything?  See, you can eat very, very healthy for very, very little cash.

By the way, the chicken is an incredibly golden color, which doesn’t seem to translate to the picture.

Odd Trib news

OK, enough of this nonsense!  Must start cleaning house before 2nd notice from Board of Health.

Seriously, read this shortie from today’s Trib involving the Deerfield Hyatt.  My first thought would  be why didn’t she flee the room when she saw this (teaser here, peeps)?  Unless the guy looked better than she did in her clothes.  and that’s not something you’d want to brag about…

Groupon today

Another not too terribly shabby deal, this one from Groupon.  A two-month, unlimited classes package from Bikram Yoga in St. Charles; voucher expires 4/6/2011.  If you use it, this would be a tremendous bargain, notice my qualifying “if.”  One per person, but multiple packages can be purchased as gifts, so you may get some mileage for the holidays (you big spender, you).  If you don’t exercise, at least you can get the t-shirt…

Buyzooka 1 Day Deal

This Buyzooka is kinda neat.  A voucher good until 12/31/10 for four admissions to O’Hare Paintball Park in Bensenville.  This would make for a great birthday party experience, since teenage boys can pretend to kill everything in sight but still have been pried away from violent video games!  And we’re even sneaking in some exercise.  See, win-win, moms!

random thoughts

While driving, I often notice those strange signs promising $10,000/month work at home part-time deals.  probably involve prostitution and drugs…not that there’s anything wrong with that…

Well, the above sign has bugged me for quite some time now.  I mean, this person is saying they’re rich and you can be too, but then they can’t afford a proofreader?  It’s “What YOU’RE worth, a contraction of you are, not to be confused with your, a possessive adjective.  I have now lost all faith in this company:  well, there’s always the prostitution and drugs to fall back on…

Jewel – hey we’re back home!

Finally, a reason to return to Jewel!  After a few months of practically sleeping on a cot in the back, I’ve been in only a few times.  Today that changed.  Since I was in a hurry and needed to burn a few expiring cats (10/6), I picked up everything in the picture and spent…well, I’ll detail it out for you.

First transaction was for 7 OR popcorn.  The shelf tag reads $3.59, but the Preferred Card price is $1.69, so we’re looking at 7 total to get to Skippy’s Magic Number, which for this promotion is $25.  Actually, this gets us to $25.13, which is really cutting it close.  The actual cost works out to be $11.83, and you then get a $10 OYNO cat.  I added 2 Mrs. T Pierogi ($3.45 BOGO) and a small Soft Soap.  The Soft Soap was a substitute for the 10/$10 soap oddity sale which is not carried by my Jewel.  I had a store coupon cat for $1 off a personal care item, so this was my boy!  I picked up 6 more of the sale creamers and used 3 $1 coupons.  Total for this transaction was $15.63, so I used 3 of the $5 Wags RRs from the Nutrisse deal and paid out $1.63 in cash.  Got the $10 cat, but forgot my pot stamps.  I’ll get all stamps next time I’m in.

Next transaction was for 7 more OR popcorn and 2 more Mrs. T Pierogi.  Total was $13.64 (which really freaked out the cs person, who couldn’t believe my total could be so high!), but I used 4 of the $3 Aquapod cats and ended up at $1.64.  Got the $10 cat, but forgot the pot stamp.

I saw Jill Cataldo’s post this morning about a vitamin freebie at Jewel.  Clicked on the link and discovered that this is not a regular manufacturer coupon with a set limit.  This is a fantastical unlimited print $4 coupon for the adult gummy vitamins (70 ct) on sale for $3.99.  You know what that means!  FREE vitamins for the next year.  While I’ve never tasted this brand, so far I’ve never met a gummy vitamin I didn’t like.  You can healthify yourself into a diabetic coma eating these things.  I placed a special order for 48 of them at the $3.99 price so I’ll keep picking them up week after week as they dribble in.  Did the same thing with the MotrinPM (150 special order for free) a couple of months ago and the Scotch Brite scrubbing sponges (another couple of hundred – and no they weren’t all for me:  I’m not that clean.)

Gum gum gum gum Gum gum gum gum

Today’s Trib has an interesting article about gum wars.  I’m sure most people would read it as an “ooh, look at that” interesting history of gums –  I read that two of the largest makers are rolling out brand-spankin’ new gums within the next few months.  Know what that mean?  FREE GUM!  Hold on to your inserts and you can bet your bazooka there’ll be deals.  Here’s the article.   As an aside, the photo is of whatIconsidertobe the nastiest gum ever chewed – 50 made it over to the food pantry.  Notice I didn’t say the nastiest thing I’ve ever put in my mouth…
