CVS – I’m starting to feel the luv…

I’m starting to see hearts and flowers in my CVS future, peeps.  Stopped to pick up the Herbal Essence shampoos which are on sale for $2.99 with $2 ecbs.  Since I didn’t think there was a hope in hell of them getting the Oral B toothbrushes back in stock (saw that movie back in September), I asked if they would substitute the tooth brush heads – they would…

So here you have three separate transactions, all exactly the same:  1 shampoo or conditioner (used the $2 q off anything in the Clairol family 10/31 P&G) and 2 of the Oral-B replacement heads.   I used 2 $10 P&G coupons (11/14 rp) and 1 $2 Clairol, so from the $49.28 subtotal subtract $22.  Paid with 2 $10 ecbs from prior deals, so paid out $9 and got back $26 and $2 in ecbs.

One transaction I used a card that came in the mail and got an additional $4 in ecbs.

In today’s mail I got a CVS savings booklet with store coupons to stack with mfr coupons for all the stuff on sale this week (ex. Skippy).  Also got an Aldi’s grand opening card, but on that one you have to hit $30… I suppose I could go load up on their wild-caught salmon…

Wags today

I was on the phone with someone with questions (always questions!) about the Sinex deal.  I finally went down to the basement and grabbed a random box of Dayquil – looked at it carefully and realized that the expiration date was 4/2010.  Yeah, that’s right.  Not the usual thing for Wags, obviously someone screwing up at the warehouse.  I returned it for cash (obviously they were out of stock) and picked up the onion rings for the casserole dish that every family in America makes for holidays:  green bean casserole!  Since I have about a bazillion cans of the french-style green beans in the basement and a few cans of the cream of mushroom soup, the only thing missing was the topping.

Picked up 7 of these for $4.04.  If you actually calculate it, I didn’t pay for them because I got $5 cash back from the Dayquil return, but I only spent $2 on it originally.  go team!

Lobster Freezooka!

See, I knew there had to be a reason I was still sitting on my computer like a vegetable:  Just got the email on the Buyzooka deal of the day, for a $25 voucher for Lobstergram.  If you redeem at their store, there is a $50 minimum purchase requirement – none for online purchases.  They also sell seafood and steak assortments.

I’m going to put in my order for one of these (that’s the limit).  Remember, if you don’t use it you haven’t lost anything, since it was free.

Wags Sinex run

I’m sure there’s a play on words here (Sinus = nose = run), but I’m more interested in the MM aspect.  Ran 12 transaction (9 with the Gain dish soap) for a total OOP of $25.70; RRs total $60.  If you add in the $25 cost of my 100 coupons (from a clipping service), I’m still up by about $10.  From now on, everything outside of my $2.18 will be profit.

I hope you all ordered these Sinex $4/1 coupons when I first posted about it, because the prices have skyrocketed in the past few days.  If you order within the next day or two there’s still a good chance you’ll get them before the end of sale on Saturday.  Since most Wags get their shipments once a week, if they’re out of stock, get rainchecks for the Nyquil and the Dayquil – the RR is a monthly promotion and the coupons expire 11/30.  They’re bound to come in at some point in the next couple of weeks.

At one Wags there was a radio station car handing out bottles of Sobe.  which explains the 3 bottles in the picture.  did you honestly think I’d turn down free Sobe?

Anybody want to buy some Nyquil or Dayquil?  cheap?  really really cheap?

Jewel today – Heads up!

Just got back from Jewel…will take pix later, but wanted to let you all know to:

Check your Avenue before you leave the house; people have been reporting that the PF Chang and HC Fresh Mixers have disappeared from their preferred card without being used, even though the expiration dates are next week.  This happened to me, so here is what you do: Take your Dominicks, Speedway, anything loyalty card with a bar code of 12 numbers and register that on the Avenue site.   Print out what your deals are, so you don’t forget – they will all show as a preferred card – so make a notation about which tag to scan.  Obviously, this is at SCOT.   Today’s transaction was on a Speedy Rewards tag with both items showing (although the Chang discount was only $2.25).  Score!!  My Dominicks’ cards don’t have the PF Chang, but do have the HC Fresh Mixers.  Buy your limits NOW, don’t wait until Monday or you can be sure they will be pulled.  Buy now and return in the next 60 days with your receipts and coupons.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Vendors are apparently asking Jewel to yank the Avenue deals when the volume purchased becomes more than anticipated.  This has to be a customer relations nightmare for Jewel!  Imagine the person who checked his/her card the evening before and printed out the offers, then went shopping first thing…can we say majorly pissed when nothing comes off?

Second item of note:  Jewel corporate has had meetings with store management making them aware of the number of “extreme” couponers out there (my choice of words).  Corporate is aware of the sheer volume of business that couponers bring to each and every coupon-friendly store and is now trying to ensure that all stores maintain a coupon-friendly attitude.  Mind you, this doesn’t mean anyone ever has the right to act rude or throw things or in any way attempt to demean the poor schnook who has to take the abuse.  and yes, these things have all happened to cs and cashiers… so don’t even go there…

Calling all Naperville males, females & shemales

Why is it that Naperville is known on one hand as such a kid-friendly community but on the other hand, every few weeks there’s a big prostitution bust?  With another collection of butt-ugly losers – and honestly?  I wouldn’t touch these perps with your dick … well, not as long as there’s choke the chicken

<— a meeting of minds...

Jewel for dinner

Here’s the deal:  Picked up six of the $6.99 PF Chang because that was the maximum on my preferred card, then added “stuff” to come up to the ten needed to discount $5.00.  Obviously I don’t need any more cake mix, but this is a case where it’s cheaper to throw them into the basket to get the discount on the other stuff.  Vanity Fair napkins are a total rip-off at $2, but when you don’t have any and your family balks at using toilet paper…what’s a mother to do?  The Macaroni Grill product was thrown in to get up to $30 to use a 3/30 coupon I found – don’t worry, I had a free coupon!

Just cooked up a few packages of the PF Change – the general consensus is that it’s right up there with take out:  I agree.  Wish I had more preferred cards…

Update here:  I cooked 3 of the bags which state “Meals for Two.”  There is not one bit of food left over, people.  My take on this?  Extremely fine quality, but very expensive:  the regular shelf price is $10.99, but even the sale price of $6.99 is too high (it you’ve gotten the price down to $1.99 or free with RRs, then it’s a great deal and I wish I had like a zillion preferred cards).  If you’re going to spend that kind of money, might as well go out and have tons of doggy bags.

Make $$$$$ from home – Link fixed

Well, maybe not quite that much, but I got an email from PineCone Research saying that they are now accepting new members.  I like this survey site because 1) they don’t have really long-ass, boring surveys and 2) they pay $3 into your PayPal account within 1 day (used to be they paid $5, but grumble, grumble, grumble).

A caveat here:  Most people will not be accepted. Obviously, they’re not extremely picky if they have me, but their demographic requirements constantly change.  If you don’t make it one time, the next month you might – crapshoot.  So click the above link and see what happens.

Note:  I get no referral fees for this, but they are welcome to dump excess funds into my PayPal account…

Jewel – It works!!

See sticky for coupon info 8 Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers, 2 PF Chang and 1 package of Gonnella rolls (for the Papa Charlie’s)  for a total of $1.12 OOP.  Note that I used a $3 RR from the Kleenex deal, so if you’d like, add the 3 bucks back into the equation…still cheap, huh?

The wait is over!

For all you peeps drooling over the thought of a local Chick-fil-A, here’s the Trib story covering the Wheaton store opening. Me?  Don’t understand the whole concept of “fast food” which is neither fast, nor cheap, nor particularly tasty – well, excepting Micky D fries, of course.
