cheap (possible MM) HN Cheerios – Update

Here is the list of all participating GM cereals:  Honey Nut or Multi-Grain Cheerios; Lucky Charms or Golden Grahams; Cocoa or Reese’s Puffs; Cinnamon or Frosted Toast Crunch; Cookie Crisp, Trix or Kix.

Starting this Thursday (18th) Jewel will be running a Buy 4 GM cereals and get them for $1.75 each promotion.   That’s not even a horrible price (compared to the olden days), but we can make it so much better… with coupon!  I’ve listed the multi-grain coupon but don’t know/think it’s part of the deal but if it is or they substitute you’re prepared.  just like the  Scouts…

$0.50 off ONE BOX Honey Nut Cheerios cereal
$0.75 off ONE BOX Multi Grain Cheerios

Jewel also has a $1 store coupon for one box of any flavor Cheerios – coupon expires on the 19th.  Coupon reads one coupon per customer per transaction, so ymmv.   SavingStar has a 50¢ one-time only coupon, so add that one, too!  You can also add a 50¢ to your Jewel card – but be warned that the site takes forever and I don’t know if both paper and ecoupons will come off.

SavingStar is a program that not only allows you to use paper coupons as you normally would, but the value of all digital coupons added and redeemed gets entered into your SavingStaraccount.  At a $5 threshold you can request payouts into direct deposit, paypal, amazon gift card, or donate to charity.

I tried to make the deal that much sweeter by adding any ecoupons to my Fuel Rewards card, but nothing showed up within 50 miles (the max) of many, many zip codes (but since using Fuel Rewards coupons removes them from SavingStar, it’s a non-starter).  Goddess is just never satisfied...Do NOT wait to print these coupons because Goddess is no longer listening to the whiners who put off printing until the limit was capped…

Jewel clearance shopping

Been hearing about good deals and crummy deals – some stores are apparently confused about the concept of clearing out stuff on the cheap.  Heard that the Danada Jewel in Wheaton had half an aisle full of clearance…well, they did earlier!

Here is a very, very small pile of stuff – the tic tacs and almond butter are for Rachel…I don’t ask and she doesn’t tell.  The almond butter was only $2.25!  I stocked up on my favorite gum in the world:  Extra Dessert Gum in Apple Pie and Key Lime Pie.  I’d never been able to find the Key Lime cheap and wasn’t willing to pay full boat.  and now?  let’s just say i’m set for as long as i have toothies…

Lots of baby formula (power), jars of baby food.  I took all the boxes of the dried spinach tortellini because it was 60¢ a box!  Twinings cans of loose tea were $1.70, Krusteaz cracked wheat bread mixes were 60¢ and they had a large quantity of Coco Loco for 80¢ – what, Wheaton still doesn’t drink?  Large bags of Kibbles were $3.50 ($1 coupon in 10/7 rp); the small bags of Pedigree were $2 (there are $1 in 9/30 rp).  Lots of Carnation Evaporated Milk (.50/2 coupon in 9/30 rp) for 50¢ each, so only a quarter!

And remember, you can always return with your coupons and receipt(s) for up to 60 days.

PSA – Jewel clearance items

I picked up fourteen of the Centrum Pro-Nutrients on clearance for $5.99 – $6.49, knowing there was a $5 coupon in today’s rp – there is also a $5 IP on red plum under dietary supplement.  If this is a product you use and are now getting depressed over Walgreens… print out the IP and hold with the insert coupons.  Since all Jewels are participating in the refresh program, there’s a very good chance these will show up elsewhere.  With the ability to return within 60 days with coupons and receipts for $$ back, it pays to check the coupon database regularly (use the Find a Coupon tab to find both IPs and insert qs).  Obviously this advice applies to all Jewel clearance items.

Note:  These were not found at the Lisle Jewel (so there’s hope for all of you!).

Kohl’s gift cards, Kohl’s Cash & .99 shipping!

Friday and Saturday only, Jewel has a Buy $100 in selected gift cards and get $20 OYNO promotion.  I picked up a $100 Kohl’s card because they are always having some deal, so why not make an additional 20% profit by buying the card?  I tried to use the $20 cat on the next order, which was lots of clearance…couldn’t get above $16!!  When gluten-free products are 90% off and the imported balsamic vinegar is only $2, it’s very difficult to reach that threshold…but I’ll make it, I’m certain.  Note that these cats have only a 7 day expiration period.

And speaking of Kohl’s, through October 14th, you’ll get $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend in store and online on all merchandise, which can be used from October 15th through the 27th.  This includes regular, sale and clearance items.  If you purchase $50 online, you receive your Kohl’s Cash code via email.  They’re also having a 99¢ standard shipping deal.  Great timing, huh?

PSA – Jewel clearance items

Heads up, folks:  Jewel is having chain-wide resets (some call them refreshes), resulting in TONS of clearance items.  We’re talking many, many, many cartloads of products that will be appearing on the clearance shelves.  Since corporate is aiming for four stores a week, there’s a good chance that your local store has either been reset or will be very soon.

As an example of prices, I picked up packs of saffron for $2.50 each, lots of k-cup packs for $3.50 for coffee and $3 for hot cocoa, boxes of Extra dessert gums, Eight O’Clock bags of coffee…way too much to list.

Grab what you want/need/desire; check the coupon database (use the Find a Coupon tab) and see if there’s a current coupon.  Remember, you have 60 days from the date of purchase to return with your coupons and receipts and get your cash back.

free seasonings @ Jewel starting 11th

Jewel has the McCormick Recipe Inspirations on sale at 10/$10 (usual shelf price is something like $3.29!).  The 10/7 rp has three coupons for McCormick gourmet spices or herbs:  75¢ off one; $1.75 off two and $3/3.  Obviously the last coupon will result in free stuff.

Note that these products are not distributed through the Jewel warehouse; spices, herbs, front end candies, etc. are handled through another supplier, so if you’re looking for larger quantities, please place your orders now to allow enough time for delivery.  obviously the Lisle Jewel will be sufficiently stocked…

thanks to MUM, who roused my lazy ass enough to get dressed and grab the paper from the driveway

Dole OJ .88 juice deal – DEAD

When I went to the Lisle Jewel last night for juice and/or rain checks the shelf tags showed the sale ending 10/7, which is correct.  What I didn’t know (there had been no shelf tags about the sale) and didn’t see was that the special Buy 5 get $5 off promotion ended last night.  I am so sorry for anyone who attempted to run this deal this morning.  If you did get rain checks, then you’re completely covered.

Pert for a quarter

Got a message from a reader (thanks, Ron) about a possible deal on Pert at Walgreens.  I tend to discount many of the deals I hear about because they depend on regional prices/coupons, but since I was heading out to Jewel to check on the Dole OJ situation, I decided to check on that shampoo.  PSA:  The Dole OJ and juice blends $2.88 less a buck when you buy five goes through 10/7 (Sunday).  Plenty of time to score more 88¢ OJ (and you can always return within 60 days with your coupons and receipts).  The Lisle Jewel had a LOT of that Force 3X 10 oz bagged coffee on the clearance cart marked $2.  I tried a couple of the sample packs earlier this year and was not impressed – sadly, I experienced no extra jolt of caffeine.

On to Walgreens, which, I’ll freely admit, has not held much interest for me lately.  I grabbed a couple of the 9/09 S2 inserts (in Chicago it had Visionworks on the cover) and ran the pictured transaction.  Pert 13.5 oz size is on a monthly October sale for $1.99.  There is a $1 October IVC and a $1.50/2 from the insert.  Put them all together and it looks like this:  Two 13.5 oz Pert = $3.98 – $2 from IVC = $1.98 – $1.50 insert coupon = 48¢ for two bottles.  I ran this with four bottles and paid out $1.54, of which 58¢ was high tax (Lisle).  (some communities are higher).

As this is a nationwide deal, everyone can stock up on shampoo/conditioner on the cheap.  Note:  The insert coupon expires 10/09.

OJ…my way

super-secret picture of my garage refrigerator...it contains four of the five Dole orange juice bottles I just bought at Jewel – what, you thought I was talking about that other OJ?!

Here’s the deal, which I blatantly stole from another site without giving credit:  The Dole orange juice has a shelf price of $3.29, is currently on sale for $2.88…but as part of the Buy 5 items get $5 off deal, you buy five (which are the only things worth a cup of spit, frankly) and the price drops to $1.88.  Most people would cheer at this point, but my readers are not most people.  Use the $1 off any Dole 100% juice coupon from the 9/30 rp and you’ve got 88¢ friggin’ orange juice!  insert happy dance here…  Lisle is placing larger than normal orders if your Jewel is out.

Jewel for cheap coffee

Jewel has those daily item promotions and today’s (Wednesday) is their EE coffee for only $3.98 – this is normally $7.99, which would be a deal all by itself.  However, with a coffee stockpile rivaling Caribou, I needed something to make it even cheaper!

The $1 OYNO store cat that is scheduled to start tomorrow, started printing a day early AND, if you still have any of those insert coupons $1 off when you spend $5 on EE products, you’ll run the deal like this:  I bought this large can of coffee with a package of EE shredded cheese for $2.  This brought me to $5.98 and I used the $1 coupon and a $1 off any EE cheese product store cat.  Note:  The $1 OYNO cat prints out when you scan the coffee, not after you pay, but please don’t use it on the same transaction.  It only ruins it for us in the long run.  btw though…ad says limit 1, but that’s per transaction…

The Baileys is on sale for 2/$4 and right on the cooler door is a non-blinking blinkie just filled with $1 off any Baileys coupon – expiration date is 1/31/13, so grab them now because the holidays are a’coming!  I only took twelve….that’s twelve products….
