Really cheap PF 3-layer cakes at Jewel – ends today!

Today is the last day for the Pepperidge Farm 3-layer cakes (Red Velvet, German chocolate, etc.) catalina/sale deal at Jewel.  These cakes normally sell for over $4 – through today they’re 2/$5.  Use the 60¢ from 11/4 S and pay $3.80 for your first set…then get a catalina for $2.00 making your net cost for each cake 90¢!   I shouldn’t post this (bad, Goddess), but the cats print out upon scanning, not paying… This sale ends today, Wednesday the 14th, so stock up for all your holiday and school parties (’cause many schools won’t allow home baked goods anymore).

cheap gas – the hard way

All this and I’m still only at $1.10 on my Fuel Rewards account.  I can only imagine how much I’d have to “spend” to get free gas.

You see here 156 BIC Simply Soleil razors.  I have BOGO coupons and a rain check for the B2G1 sale of a few weeks ago.  For each set of six razors I spent $5.79.  I only had one of those Spend $$ Get $$ off cats and one for $2 off cereal, which gave me 17¢ cereal and cheaper razors.  Always keep those $$/$$ cats because they are a great way to reduce your totals.

If you didn’t get a rain check for this promo, you can still stock up on the cheap.  Jewel has a Buy BIC Soleil razor (NOT the variety I bought – rats) for $4.49 and get a $1 catalina for each – says no limits.  In this case, you’d buy two and use the BOGO coupon to pay $4.49 and get back two $1 cats, bringing your effective cost down to $1.25 a pack of razors.

Ultra 11/8-14

Looking over the Ultra (Lombard) online ad, it’s nowhere near as good a week as the one ending today.  Last call for Gevalia coffee, Palermo pizza and Post Raisin Bran.  Not in stock?  Get rain checks.  On any deals, always check the Find a Coupon tab to see what insert and IPs might be available.  It’s the fastest way to check.

The Ultra four-day promotion includes whole pineapple for $1.48 – it doesn’t list a brand, but if it’s Del Monte, use this 50¢ FB IP.  Jack’s pizzas are $1.88 – use the $1/3 from 10/28 rp.  Limit of four on the Jacks; after that they’re 3/$10.

Ultra is having a Buy 5 Get $5 mix and match instant savings promotion which includes a couple of decent deals (all prices are after the savings):  18-ct eggs are 98¢;  Smuckers jelly (select varieties) is $1.48 – use 35¢ coupon in 11/4 rp; 32 oz Hungry Jack pancake mixes and 27.6 original syrup are $1.48  – use the $1/2 from 11/4 rp; Dunkin Donuts coffee 11-12 oz is $4.88 – use $1 in 10/28 rp; Folgers K-cups $4.88 – use $1 in 10/7 rp.  Limit two transactions for price (so split ’em up!).

Sierra Mist 2L are 5/$5 – use the expired $1/3 from the 9/30 Pepsi insert to stock up on the cranberry flavor while it’s available.

Note:  Ultra doesn’t participate in the SavingStar deals, but since most of these promotions seem to move from store to store, I’d still add them to your account since you have nothing to lose.

Skippy, Hellman’s mayo, lots of other Unilever products on the Buy 10 (mix and match) and get a $5 catalina.  Make sure you’ve added these to your savingstar account because they give you a $5 reward when you spend $20.   Click here to register (it’s free) or sign in to your SavingStar account.  Dove or Degree deodorants are $1.48 – use the Dove 75¢ coupon in 9/30 rp.  Degree deodorant has a 75¢ IP on coupons.com.  Dove shampoo & conditioner is $2.98.  Use the BOGO in 9/30 rp. Kibble n bits is $10.88 for the 16 lb bag – use $1 coupon in 10/7 rp.

VO5 shampoo and conditioner is 68¢- use the $1/4 coupon in 10-/14 s.  shame they don’t include treatments and styling aids…

Probably lots more deals, but most aren’t the greatest (speaking as someone who still has a case of the Hungry Jack syrup from the freebie days at Jewel in October 2010 (which was also when we were getting our Wesson oil for 50¢ a bottle).

MM Equaline razor stock update

Been out most of the entire day, first with that Odyssey Fun World corn maze deal (Groupon – ’cause all the other people were paying $10 a person!), then IKEA for this super cool hanging pocket thing (I have them on the back of the door to the basement and now I can see all my spices, etc. at one glance).

But I digress…

Save $5.00 when you spend $15.00 on any Equaline® products. Only at ACME Markets, Albertsons, Jewel – Osco, Shaw’s.   Equaline razors just happen to be B2G1 this week, with prices ranging from $3.33 to $9.99 – some of the $3.33 packs have $2 peelies on them.  Buy nine packs of razors for $3.33 each.  3 are free with the B2G1 so you spend $19.98.  Use nine $2 off peelies, and you’re at $1.98 + high tax.   If you loaded the $15 Equaline deal on Savingstar earlier this month (I think it’s already gone), you’ll be making money on this deal.

Both Jewels in Downers Grove, the Westmont store, Countryside store and Woodridge stores either never got the razors with the $2 peelies or they’re all out.  Lisle doesn’t recall ever getting any.  The Darien store had a bunch of them this morning.  If the shelves are bare, walk around and look for a cardboard shadowbox display with pegs that some of the stores are putting up. This update is current as of today.

SavingStar is a program that not only allows you to use paper coupons as you normally would, but the value of all digital coupons added and redeemed gets entered into your SavingStar account.  At a $5 threshold you can request payouts into direct deposit, paypal, amazon gift card, or donate to charity.

Jewel for cheap BIC razors

I tried all combinations of the various BIC razors – Soleil comes in many, many varieties.  The bad news is the only ones that work are the two pictured in the Jewel ad, Simply Soleil and the men’s Comfort 3 Advance.  Good news is that there are bonus packs on the women’s razors that give you six for the price of four and they work with this deal.

Total OOP (after three BOGO coupons) was less than $6, so let’s say it’s a buck a pack or 24¢ a razor (including that one bonus pack).

Extreme BIC razor deal at Jewel/Osco

I got next week’s Jewel ad in yesterday’s mail (a shocker!), but had to wait to read the new shelf tags.  The BIC Simply Soleil (women) and Comfort 3 Advantage (men) razors will be B2G1 starting Thursday, October 25.  There is a BOGO BIC coupon in the 10/14 S and this would be the play:

Buy six of the razors and use three BOGO coupons (you will end up paying for one).  Note that only the two razors I listed (as shown in the ad) are part of this deal, even though they have many at the sale price.  At this point we don’t know if the unmarked varieties will work with the B2G1.  While possible (and probable) that the sale will extend another week, the new sale tags shows the sale running only through October 31.

Another thing to consider is the price:  Soleil is $4.49 but the Comfort 3 is $4.99.   Not significant if you’re only running a few deals, but always something to consider, especially since this is all high tax.

Jewel – CC pizza deal is per transaction

I broke this down into two transactions. First one included the Cheerios and two Wholly Guacs to get me over the $10 pre-coupon (which is what really triggers the daily deal) and then two CC pizzas. I had a FREE Guac coupon from BlogHer2012, which gave me two for FREE!  There is also a deal on the freezer doors:  Buy one CC pizza and a 2L Fanta soda and get a second soda free.  I don’t care how many coupons you can find to bring the price down, you should have enough pop in the stockpile that paying for Fanta would strike you as ridiculous.  or Goddess can strike you.  either way…

Second transaction was just to see if I could get the $2.99 price on the same rewards card (I have an alternate card plan in place).  All that salsa was free after using the $1.50 mfr coupon in the 9/16 s (expires 10/21).  Ended up paying about $6 for the pizzas and tax.

Suggestions to hit the threshold include the Cheerios deal, clearance meat (there is a $3/$10 meat purchase store coupon in one of those Jewel booklets), the Wholly Salsa and/or McCormick spice cards (also free).  I would recommend scanning the pizzas last to make sure the price drops from $4.97 to $2.99 – I do not trust these new registers.

cheap cereal at Jewel

I only ran this Cheerios deal with four boxes – I’ll probably go back tomorrow for more.  The PB Cheerios are multi-grain, so I used the 75¢ IPs and paid $2.11 for the four boxes.  You also see that My POM has Come In! I bought this a couple of months ago, specifying only the blueberry and cherry flavors, so it took some time.  wonder which goes better with PB Cheerios…

$0.50 off ONE BOX Honey Nut Cheerios cereal
$0.75 off ONE BOX Multi Grain Cheerios

Jewel refresh list & clearance items

Reader wrote in with this info on the refresh clearance deals in the western suburbs.  Great idea!  Why don’t we all comment about what we’ve found and where.  Remember, you don’t have to have your coupons with you, you can return with the receipt(s) and coupons within 60 days of purchase to any Jewel.

I made my husband drive me around to a bunch of Jewels so I could check out the clearance situation.  Woodridge had one tiny end cap and I’m not sure if it’s the remains of a reset or if they haven’t done one yet.  Darien has about five clearance end caps, but I left without buying anything.  The Westmont Jewel on Ogden claims they already did their clearance and there’s nothing left.  63rd and Main in Downers Grove has the remains of their clearance.  Clarendon Hills had a puny, super overpriced clearance section and Countryside had nothing.  I’ve asked my non-couponing friends to watch their Jewel and let me know if clearance hits their store so I can try to get some cheap dog food.

I found a Kashi coupon book in the healthy food aisle.  It has $6.50 in coupons that are good until the end of the year.

PSA – Jewel daily deals – they lied…

Here’s what they’re offering and here’s what I plan to do.  Note that each of these deals requires a $10 purchase – says after coupons – they lied.  And I very much like their “Sneak Peek!!!” of the sale starting tomorrow (got their email this morning)  Never mind that the ad was in Tuesday’s mail and in the Wednesday Tribune already.

You see here my 12 cards of the McCormick spice with the two EE 99¢ breads.  Bread price was reduced automatically when I reached the $10 threshold.  I then use four of the $3 mfr coupons and ended up spending $2.22.  So this is what I plan to do, since the spice deal runs through October 21 (according to shelf tags):  Buy 12 of the spice cards every day there is a deal in which I’m interested (hello CC pizza!) You should do the same…

Wednesday the 17th – EE wide-pan bread for 99¢.  Good bread, but I have tons frozen from when it was free.
Thursday the 18th – Kraft Miracle Whip or mayo. for $1.88 .  Not a horrible price.
Friday the 19th – CC ultra-thin, flatbread or rising crust pizza for $2.99 each.  Limit two (i think not).
Saturday the 20th – $2.99 for 8-packs of Gatorade or G2.  yuck
Sunday the 21st – Triscuits and other Nabisco crackers for $1.39.  pass
Monday the 22nd – $3.99 for Tropicana pure OJ.  I would hope you’d still have enough from the .88 deal…
Tuesday the 23rd – Doritos for $1.55.  Yeah, something I can’t live without – NOT!
Wednesday the 24th – 2L bottles of Sierra Mist, Pepsi, Mountain Dew…for 77¢
