Fill ‘er up at Shell time

My Jewel Fuel Rewards were expiring the end of September and my gas gauge light was on; figured it was time.  Only sad because filling up for $2.649 now gets me excited.

Jewel daily deals (defined by Supervalu)

Saw this Jewel post on SD and some seemed decent…so here’s the info:

Thursday Progresso soup 18-19oz vegetable classics for 79¢.  Limit 4.  9/09 s2 had a $1/4 coupon, which would make them 54¢ each – not bad.

Friday 2L Coke for 77¢, limit 4. meh…

Saturday small size boxes of GM cereal,  $1.49, limit 2.  Coupons are all $1/3.

Sunday 3lb bag Farm Fresh boneless skinless chicken for $4.99, limit 1.  If you’re not doing the Zaycon deal.

Monday Klondike bars 4-8 ct are $1.88. Limit 2.  These used to be free!  What happened?

Tuesday Betty Crocker supermoist cake mix 15-16oz select varieties, 69¢.   I got lots in my basement you have for less.  Betty’s holding back on the coupons, though.

Wednesday  28-34oz Essential Everyday coffee, $3.99.  Limit 1.   I tried this coffee when it was pretty much free – very decent coffee for the price, but if you’re near a Target and have 50¢ more to spend…

Free febreze warmer

The Febreze warmer pictured sells at Jewel for just under $3 – there’s a $3 coupon in the September P&G insert.  Obviously, with no catalina promotion or overage, this isn’t a deal, but I would still pick up one or two because it’s one of those warmers that require the two bottles and we see those on clearance all the time.

Also, and this is the important part:  When you are trying to hit a price threshold to use those get $$/$$ store cats (or the spend $$ and get FREE CEREAL or BREAD or…), this is an easy-peasy way to bump up your numbers for tax.

Glade $2.46 MM at Jewel – IP update!

For those of you in need of more coupons, here a some Glade IPs. Also, the deal is tiered: Buy 2, get $1.00 OYNO. Buy 3, get $2.00 OYNO. Buy four or more, get $3.00 OYNO, so if you don’t have four coupons, don’t despair!
$1.00 off TWO Glade Sense & Spray refills
$1.00 off Glade Decor Scents holder
$1.00 off Glade Scented Oil Candle holder

$1.00 off Glade PlugIns Scented Oil refill
$1.00 off Glade PlugIns Scented Oil kit

Ran this a few times and it’s a beauty:  Buy four of the Glade oil warmers, currently selling for slightly over a buck.  Lisle has them for $1.04, but they’re $1.09 at other locations.  Use the $1 mfr coupon from 8/26S and pay basically high tax…and get back a $3 OYNO cat!

I’d use the $1 refill coupons and roll the $3 cat to get products to fill those empty shells!

Jewel = money for nothing

but no chicks for free…  Apparently SC was almost out of wet jet pads (what?  you thought the Goddess washed floors?) so I traipsed over to Jewel to pick up a few things.  Applying a judicious mix of store cats (bread, etc.) and those $5 OYNO – but mostly the former – I was able to get all this for……………nothing.

Oh, and PITA “found” a $1 OYNO from Crystal Light.

Pop update, update

While the deal is still working, I think you’d be hard-pressed to find any stock in any Jewel stores.  The Sunkist orange is working with the group, so that’s one flavor you might be able to find.

Although I could be wrong, I don’t believe you’ll be able to place any special orders at this point or increase the amount you may have already ordered.

precious pop pictures

Update:  Don’t forget to check your Fuel Rewards balance!  I’m up to 85¢ so far!

Send me any any all pictures of your 2L hauls and I’ll post them right here.  Here’s the first one I got – I think they also placed and paid for large special orders for donation purposes (and no, this isn’t my haul!)

Jewel – making $$ the hard way

Note:  If you want to run this deal, do not wait.  The cats are supposed to be $2 ones, not $5, and I very much doubt this will continue through Monday morning.

Been working the 2L pop catalina deal at Jewel all afternoon – phew!  What deal?  Glad you asked.  Buy the 2L bottles of any combination of 7UP, diet 7UP, A&W root beer, A&W diet root beer,  A&W cream soda, Sunkist grape and Sunkist strawberry.  That’s seven varieties in all.

You can run it a few way, but I did 32 of each variety, paid $25 something (my brain is fried right now) for the first one and the cat machine spit out 8 $5 OYNO store coupons.  Remember, store coupons means no tax.  Which is great on a high tax item.  Subsequent transactions meant you used the prior deal’s $25 in cats and paid .30 in high tax and got back an additional $15 in store cats.

If you want to run fewer transactions with larger numbers and want to use the 5% off your next transaction that gets generated with the first $5 cats, buy 80 of any of the above and you’ll get back $100 in $5 store cats.

I picked up 896 2L bottles using the 32 bottle method and 80 bottles using the one-time method.  These are special orders, for the most part, which will be picked up by the Lisle Township Food Pantry when they come in.

All the news that fits: Jewel/Osco on the block

According to Reuters, Supervalu has hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Greenhill & Co. as advisors to the potential sale.  Not a total surprise, as last month Supervalu said it was looking at options for overhauling the firm, including a sale.

Supervalu Inc.’s advisers are asking potential buyers to bid for the entire business, even as several chains have inquired about individual parts of the U.S. grocery company, Bloomberg News reported.

Things must be really dire at Supervalu (thanks, Craig), because they’re not even giving the new low prices combined with the Fuel Rewards program a chance to work.  Have you noticed an increase in business at your Jewel?  More cars in the lot?  And obviously stores in close proximity to a Meijer or Pete’s are gonna be ghost towns…
