pop and pasta @ Jewel

photo.JPGStopped at Jewel for some Coke – Firstborn complains that PITA drinks his so a possibility here of shutting his pie hole… yeah, slim, I know.

Certain grocery stores had sales ads this week containing Coke ($3) and Pepsi ($2) product manufacturer coupons; I know Westbook Market and Pete’s did, while Valli’s had a store coupon. If you clip out the $3 Coke coupon and use it at Jewel, you’ll get four 12-packs for $5 (sale price of $8 less the $3 coupon). I didn’t need to spend the $20 extra to get the $2 price, either – price dropped at the $20 threshold which included the Coke.

Total OOP was $13.86.

went shopping – almost spent money!

My first stop was to Jewel to pick up a few $1 Challenge butter coupons.  This has been going on sale for $2.50 at Jewel; it’s a good butter, especially for $1.50!  Exp. is 8/30, so plenty of time to hold for a sale.

Next stop was Walgreens, where I was looking for the ground flaxseed.  Something we actually use and I’ve now been to three stores with nary a pouch.  But there’s lots more Wags around…

This is a picture of the duck tape clearance at one of the Walgreens – the 75th Street store in Woodridge.  New manager is our old friend from Wheaton, Steve!  At least you know they’ll have RR products in stock!

Stopped at the Dominicks on 63rd to check out the Ice Mountain.  No signs, nothing in the ad, but I’d read that it was actually on sale for 2/$1.   I had them scan a bottle to confirm, then loaded up a cart.  I’ll come back when they get another truckload, since I have those beautiful $1/2 coupons from 6/16 rp.  Free water – in bottles (the only free kind I want to see, thankyouverymuch).

While there, I checked the freezers for $1 Frutare coupons – there they were in a little ole blinkie! I took a few and drove over to Ultra, where they are $3.50, unless you buy four, when they magically drop to $1.88 each. So my four boxes, less 5¢ for bringing my own bag, came to $3.60.  The mango bars are awesome!  Puny, but awesome!  Can’t wait to try the banana and milk one.

Since I was hitting up Walgreens stores anyway, decided to pick up a few more of the roll deals (as pictured).  I’m tired of cleaning products, so picked up a few Campbell’s pouch soups – had the coconut curry one a few months ago and it was super.  One side of the roll was 12¢ – other was 45¢.

What’s for dinner?

photo.JPG

Thank you for asking… Jewel has Pasta Prima on sale 2/$4. Use the $1 coupon from 5/05 S.  A regional coupon, it was luckily in the Chicago Tribune.  So we’re dining on lobster ravioli and butternut ravioli (four packs) with fresh asparagus on the side.  Total OOP of maybe $5.

all noodles, all the time (or enough for quite a few weeks)

photo (2)There are noodles in the back, in the luggage space and on the passenger seat. And no, these are not all for us (although the spicy chicken one is mighty tasty).  I often wonder what the people would think if my car were rear-ended…

$2 Dove IP – use on current Jewel sale

This high-value $2 off any Mars ice cream products has no size restrictions, so you can use it on the current $3 sale on 3-pk Dove bars at Jewel.  It was 50¢ cheaper at Ultra the other week, so If you want to wait, the expiration date isn’t until 7/31.  However, I would not put off printing…

If you only print this one coupon, you’ll also get a big picture of their ice cream products.
$2.00 off any ONE (1) Mars Ice Cream

now with embarrassing pix! – i thoroughly debase myself for 10% off – well, wouldn’t you?

So I dressed up in a borrowed Blackhawk jersey and hit up Jewel for the Yakisoba noodles. Remember, after the 10% hockey discount, you are paying -1¢, which is a frownie-face transaction.  So to use up that horrid overage, I was forced to purchase the pictured items.  How many noodles did I buy?  You do the math.

The Challenge butter is 2/$5 through tomorrow, the 16th.  There were $1 coupons in non-blinkies at some stores recently, so if you took any, you’re down to $1.50 a pound.   Wish I’d seen those coupons!  I’m gonna be picking up some, since I want to replace my flood butter – all 38 pounds – and I’m gonna have to pray for an insert coupon in the next 60 days.

Okay, Rachel, I just knew you’d say something…here’s a photo PITA just took.

Free noodles @ Jewel

photo.JPG

Whether or not you eat these as ramen noodles or use them as a base for other dishes, free is good.  Right now the Yakisoba noodles are BOGO at $1.09. Use the 50¢ coupon in the 5/19 S2 and pay 9¢ for every set of two.  However, buy them on a Blackhawk’s game day when you’re wearing a Blackhawk jersey or shirt and get 10% off — Jewel will now pay you to take them home!    This sale only goes through Tuesday the 18th.  Now, maybe you don’t have any coupons or just want more.  The Goddess has you covered.

I have a couple of stacks this size which I will be pleased to share.  Let me know how many you’d like and I’ll send them out.  The Lisle Jewel has placed a larger than normal order, so if you’d like, I’ll clip and place a stack in an envelope at customer service, but not before Sunday.  Remember, you can always buy and return within 60 days with the coupons or else get a rain check for the BOGO price (obviously you won’t get the Blackhawks discount on a non-game day).  Also a great donation idea.

Oh, and I paid $1.09 for the 20 packs shown.

Jewel – short code chicken & sausages

photo.JPG by deranged.me
Lisle Jewel got cases of boneless, skinless chicken breast with short code dates, so they put them all out at $1.50/lb! I took 20.

The Jewel brand sausages (bratwurst, Italian and Polish) were also going for cheap – $2.25 A PACKAGE! And yes, I got lots of those, too.

So I spent about $100, but since I missed out on the Zaycon chicken event, at least I’ll be set for pretty much the rest of the year.

edit with picture – cheap lunch meat over at Jewel!

I forgot to post the picture.  This is in a decent-sized tub, not the plastic bag.  8861854559_f87fee18d6_n (1)

Right now you can get 10 oz packages of Land O Frost lunch meat for only 99¢ when you use the $1 coupon in the 5/12 rp.  These are the minis – which pretty much look like Lunchable or party tray size meats – and are on a price break through June 9.

That’s pretty cheap and a great way to rebuild or start your own stockpile.

don’t forget to grab your FREE toothbrushes!

That’s right, we’re back in business with this deal at Jewel:  Butler GUM toothbrushes are part of the 10/$10 deal in today’s sales ad.  Just so happens that there’s a $1 off Butler GUM oral care products coupon in the 5/19S1 insert (in the Chicago area it’s the Sweet Baby Ray cover).  Sale runs through Wednesday, so either get your rain checks now or pay in advance or buy and return with your coupons.  Either way you get freesies to use or trade for stuff like paper towels!
