“Late-breaking” news in today’s Chicago Tribune alerts readers to the fact that Cerberus Capital Management, the new owner of Jewel, Shaws, Albertson’s and Acme, has eliminated the loyalty card requirement for sale prices.  Jewel stores changed over the past week and the other chains are converting now.  Some Jewels have $100 gift card raffles for people who turn in their now-dead cards.  The reasoning behind the change is actually quite interesting.  Read the entire article here.
