I get those Dominicks Just4U emails in my junk account all the time – usually give them a quick glance then hit delete.  Glad I checked today because there was something different:  DEAL MATCH WITH JEWEL FROZENS!  Well, heck, that just made the Stouffer’s deal at Dominicks that much better!  Now when you buy FIVE for $10 you pay zip, zero, zilch (well, low tax).

You see here 20 bags of Birds eye Steamfresh vegetables.  They were 10/$10 on the Jewel match, so I added that to my card(s) along with the Stouffer’s Harvey Fresh 5/$10  pricing.  I also printed out the page showing I had added these two to my card cause let’s face it, this is Dominicks we’re talking about.

Not one bag of Stouffers remaining on the shelves, but there were plenty of the Birds eye bags.  There was no problems whatsoever with the deal match – the price scanned at $3.29 and then “bam” dropped down to $1.  Did this in two separate transactions and used three of the $1/3 coupons from the 3/4 rp. Paid $6.17 and got back the $5 on new frozens catalina.  Just so you know, you can’t use the $5 on these veggies because they’re not new.  We tried and the register scanned it but didn’t give an amount or a discount.  That’s okay, ’cause I’ll keep using them on the deal stuff.

This is now the third Dominicks I’ve visited for these Stouffer’s bags – they should all be back in stock within the next couple of days.  Do like I did and get rainchecks stating the $2 price because the Jewel price match will disappear after 3/28.

Then off to Staples for their Free after Rewards ream of paper (it’s a different offer than earlier this month) and the $1 packs of binder clips.  I had $1.94 remaining on a rewards check due to expire on the 31st, so this was a great find.

Oh, and those Fannie May candy bars?  You never saw them…

Picked up another eight of the Stouffer’s Farmer’s Harvest bags – this time the Shrimp Scampi.  Very limited amounts in the freezer.  Customer service guy said they only received about 40% of the new frozen items they’re supposed to be showcasing!  Another truck is coming in on Tuesday night, so I’ll check it out on Wednesday.  He also said that they will be issuing rain checks with the $5 catalina information written on them in case they don’t get sufficient stock.  Hey, I’m only taking about 30 (made space in my pub burger freezer).

So each order came to $1.09 OOP after the four mfr coupons and the $5 OYNO cat from the prior transactions.

Not free, but not too shabby.  The Spend $10 on frozen foods get back $5 OYNO promotion is running through the end of the month and this week’s ad has a real sweet match up:  The Stouffer’s Farmer Harvest bags are on sale 4/$10, so right there you’re getting the $5 back, making these only $1.25 each, right?   Not good enough.  Use the $1 coupon from the 3/18 S and you’re actually paying 25¢ for each bag – definitely a stock up price, as far as I’m concerned.  Note that you cannot stack these in multiples of four – do separate transactions.  Besides, why would you want to put out the extra $5 in the first place?  Are you secretly millionaires?

Picked up eight more of the Dreamfields pasta, using the same mfr coupons as an earlier post.  Eggs were clearanced out at 50% off $2.59 an 18 ct carton.

On the way over I stopped at Fannie May for more of those mint cookie bars – if these are not a dead-ringer for Thin Mints…

A sharp-eyed reader sent the above shot – apparently Dreamfields pasta is part of that Buy 8 get $5 off the total deal that runs for another couple of days.   Boy, did not see that one in the ad, that’s for sure!  Called the Woodridge store to verify, but honestly?  That guy was so clueless he should be on Family Feud.

So hit the DG Dominicks, where I picked up all the items in this picture:  Original total was over a hundred bucks, but after loyalty card, sale discounts, coupons and hoochie-mama dance register ended up at $45.  Still way more than I’d like, but we like to eat.

Here is what is in the picture:  16 boxes of Dreamfields pasta (ended up spending .49 for each); four tubes of Open Nature large cinnamon rolls (on clearance for $2 each); two 32 oz packages of shredded cheese; six read-to-bake pizza dough balls (2 of each variety – .99 on my J4U card – I took them frozen);  couple of pounds of green grapes ($1.28 on J4U card).  PITA wanted the pretty green grapes in the clam shell because they support the rain forest.  I pointed out that as far as I knew, they didn’t grow grapes in the Amazon; two dozen eggs at .97 on my J4U card; 4 1/2 pound package of pork ribs, the giant country style.  They were 50% off, so $1.25 a pound.  I’ll make carnitas in a day or so  – yummmm.

I still have six more Dreamfields $1 coupons, so if anybody wants them, speak up now and I’ll drop them off at one of our stores.

Side note here:  The Dominicks guy called back and left a message which I did not notice until a short while ago (apparently I am the clueless one).  He (Rick) said that the shelf tags are a mistake (the Wednesday, March 25 date) and the promotion runs through Wednesday the 28th.

Hit up the Danada Dominicks for the POM juice and found a TON of clearance 18 ct eggs at 50% off the $2.79 price, which would work out to be 93¢ a dozen!  Expiration dates were the 11th and 12th.  And yes, I’m using exclamation points because the price of eggs has been so high lately and PITA hasn’t been “finding” as many cats… sad but true…

If you’re anywhere in the vicinity, stop by and stock up.  They not only have the regular egg section filled but a full cooler nearby.  We’re talking lots of eggs.

Okay, PITA and I picked up two pizzas and a Thin Mint Edy’s ice cream at Danada Square this afternoon.  They were completely out of stock on the POM.  Cashier was curious about all the people coming in with the Edy’s with pizza coupons; said she was told it was from the Jewel ad.  Very happy to see people using coupons.  Up to customer service to get the POM rain checks and lady was very coupon-knowledgeable and even remembered seeing the coupon (she keeps the inserts).  She often follows Jill, so I gave her MUM’s site for more up-to-the-minute information.  She said she could only give me a rain check for ten (which is fine – I’ll get more elsewhere and this way I don’t have the juices all expiring on the same day).  Even though this deal was forThursday only, it’s only 50¢ more per pizza the rest of the week, so I guess we’ll all be eating pizza and ice cream once again (august, 2009 – bow down your heads).

Read the latest online Dominicks ad this morning and there is a difference between the Woodridge ad and the Glen Ellyn, Carol Stream and Wheaton ads in the back page (which is all I checked):  Woodridge ad shows a Fresh Express salad and a stir fry, while Wheaton/Glen Ellyn has vegetable medleys and POM juice.  Their prices for the berries are also a buck higher, so if you doing POM and berries, bring the cheaper ad and bitch.  Well, it’s Dominicks, so you’ll be at customer service anyway…

Took the car in to get a flat fixed and had plenty of time to read the Wednesday Trib.  Dominicks is having a bunch of one-day sales of “stuff.”

Thursday’s deal is great because it consists of pizza and ice cream, so we all know what Chicagoland families will be having for dinner!   There is a limit two (per card) DiGiorno Original Pizza sale at $3.49 each.  That’s cheaper than Jewel to start with (2/$10 at Jewel), but take off the $2/2 coupon in the 1/29 rp (cover with the dog and all the pet foods…and what does that tell you about product placement, hmmm?).  Now you’re paying $2.49 for each pizza.  BUT WAIT!!! In Thursday’s Jewel ad on page three there is a mfr coupon for Buy two DiGiorno pizzas and get an Edy’s ice cream FREE.  My favorite word…  You have now spent $4.98 and gotten two large pizzas and a 48 oz carton of ice cream.  The price of pizza jumps to only $3.99 after the first two, so if you pick up more Jewel ads, you can really stock up on decent junk food.

While you’re hunting around, check out the Tyson frozen chicken deals.  They’re BOGO and there’s a $1 mfr coupon in the Game on! Jewel booklet.  Don’t know how much Dominicks has this priced, but it’s on sale at Jewel for $5.99.

Okay, caveat on the following, because Rachel’s ad shows this juice on the last page of the ad  right under the broccoli, but my ad has Fresh Express salad in its place.  Another big difference is the the blackberries or blueberries on the top left corner of the back page.  Rachel’s ad has them for 2/$6 and my ad shows 2/$5!  As MUM says, wtf!?

If you can find the ad with the POM juice, the small 8 oz bottles are on sale for .99.  There is a $1 coupon in the 12/4  S and the 1/8 s – neither has any size restrictions and even states on the 12/4 coupon:  TOM Product to include all size of POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juise, LITE POM, POMs Tea, POM POMS Wonderfu Fresh Arils and POM Wonderful Fresh Pomegranates.  Expiration on this coupon is 3/31/12, so plenty of time to use up a rain check.

Met up with Rachel ’cause I have all the Starbucks coupons left in the world and she’s an addict (hi, Rachel).  After shopping, we sat in the Starbucks cafe going over the Dominicks receipts, trying to make sense of them.  On her receipt (she only has one card, can you imagine!?) it didn’t seem like any of the J4U produce prices came off.  On my receipts?  Well, we went over and over and still couldn’t figure it out.  I bought 3 clearance OM deli meats (50%) and used the in-ad coupon on those.  The Coke Zero was my freebie, the two cheese chunks were $5 each, 4 avocados were .99 each, the tamales, skirt steak and boneless/skinless chicken breasts were 50% off.  The best we could figure was that Dominicks paid me almost $6 to take the deli meats and tamales home. These are seriously weird receipts.

Remember, this is the same store that gave me the thick-sliced bacon for free last time.  i like this store…Rachel, not so much…
