2nd Stockpile Swap – Saturday, July 12

stockpileswap2The first Mashup Mom and deranged.me Stockpile Swap Meet was so successful that we’re holding another one!  No registration required – show up and say hi!

Join us at the Lisle Public Library on Saturday, July 12th in Meeting Room A from 1-3.  Running low on peanut butter and hoping to swap for your extra jelly? Stop by and see what you can find. If you are looking to swap a lot of something or looking for something special, feel free to comment.

♥   Bring one/take one – this ain’t a stockpile shopping trip
♥   Everyone should be able to leave with something new
♥   If you have lots of items, leave most in your car and bring in a few samples or pictures –      you can bring in the rest as needed
♥   This is a caveat emptor meet: You check for expiration, condition, etc.

No selling is allowed at this event per Library rules.  No money can change hands; bring items with the understanding that you’re giving them to others.

Remaining stockpile items will be donated to the Lisle Township Food Pantry, which serves residents of Lisle and unincorporated parts of Lisle, Naperville and Woodridge. I’ve donated here for years and can vouch that they’re a very dedicated group of mostly volunteers who serve a very large number of households.

Edit (wrong date!): Stockpile swap meet photos April 19th

Unbelievable as it may sound, the four bloggers in attendance ALL forgot to take photos! That’s how great the stockpile swap meet went last Saturday at the Lisle Library. And since I am a notoriously bad photographer (I can even make other people take bad pictures – – just look at my driver’s license if you want proof!).

The products pictured are those things that remained – mostly personal care items – which are the best things for the Lisle food pantry to receive, since most people never think to donate them!  There were at least 75 cans of Iams cat food, pet food is also something that doesn’t come in too often and a few jars of pasta sauce, which I don’t see in the picture.  These are very large Rubbermade carts – there is a lot of stuff here.

We’re talking about holding another event during summer, making sure it’s not the day before a holiday this time (although I don’t know that we could have handled much more traffic in the one room).

How Many 4-pks of TP can you fit in a trunk?

Read on-line about Wags clearancing the Cottenelles for a buck or less. Well, since I just happened to have a whole load of $1 coupons, why not? Took a drive and we’re set for a couple of years. Well, I hope we’re set, since we’re talking 168 packages. The asst mgr was so excited she wanted to print out a duplicate receipt to post on the wall, showing people how you can save shopping at Walgreens.  Oh, how much did I spend?  Less than $12.

How Many Bottles of Tea Fit In A Trunk?

As well you might ask.  This was another strange deal…..Coca Cola product, for which I had fifty cent coupons.  With a BOGO, it ended up costing me low tax, or two cents a bottle. Lost count after 190 bottles. People are starting to refer to my Beverage Basement.
