I admit to not being much of a drinker (wts notwithstanding) – the fact that I’ve never heard of any of the wines listed in today’s Groupon should not be cause for alarm.

That said, this deal offers 67% off wine purchases through Barclay’s Wine (Washington State), which selects wines from vineyards around the world.  Were you to select a case of Saperavi at $128.95 (not including shipping), your cost would be about $3.50 a bottle.  Which is a pretty decent price.

Barclay guarantees the quality of their wine (I read the entire guarantee and it’s decent), so if you are interested, join their wine club and try them out.  Or don’t join the wine club!  Cancel anytime and you’re done with them.  Change your order preference to every month, every six months, once a year… IT DOESN’T MATTER.

$5 for $10 worth of ice cream! Catchy title says it all.  One voucher per visit, but doesn’t say if you can purchase more than one.  Valid at the downtown Naperville store on Jefferson; voucher expires 4/30/2011.

Another deal that sucks for me personally, but today I’m being charitable — seriously!  $13 for the unlimited use of the driving range at Ditka’s (indoor) Sports Dome in Bolingbrook.  Note:  They show Bolingbrook Drive as the street, but we know it as Rte 53 (just south of Woodridge).  I’ve driven by this thing for years – looks like a salt dome on steroids.  They serve food and drink with probably 2,000 tvs devoted to sports.  pah…  Deal is on; vouchers expire April 30, 2011.   Although it states that you can only redeem one voucher per visit, there is no mention of limits on purchase.  Maybe they’ll be treat the vouchers like our Fannie May ones and pay for each hour separately.  So Jewel vs. Dominicks.   Try and see.  whaddayagottalose?

Today’s Groupon is $5 for two general admission movie tickets to the LaGrange Theatre, an up to $11 value.  Voucher expires June 30, 2011; there is a purchase limit of 2 per person.  While I’m not a movie person, DH is, so I’m well-aware of the expenses involved in a non-Netflix outing.  This is one way to sweeten the pain of ticket prices.

The Groupon today is for Salon Aria in Woodridge, offering a package of services worth $75 for $35 – a 53% discount.  I checked their site and prices are high, but not crazy-high for a full-service salon.  Site looks very nicely put together, but again, you can put anything online (I know – I’m a cynic).

Limited vouchers available; multiples may be purchased as gifts, but only one per person can be redeemed.  Vouchers expire June 29, 2011.

I’ve often wondered what happens when the single rose you got as a youngin turns into a bouquet (and the bloom has left the rose) … well, now I know – and it’s damned expensive.  Yowser!

Golf! I must admit that I not only don’t play golf, don’t watch it on tv, don’t know anyone who plays golf or watches it on tv…..whew!   I do know that it can be majorly expensive, so this Groupon is dedicated to all those wanting a nice gift for someone you want to gift, but are not too certain of his/her personal taste, but know they like golf.

Don’t start wichyourbitchin’ about today’s Today’s Daily Deal:  $25 for up to $70 worth of tanning services at Ultimate Exposure.  You can choose from a one month gold card membership or two spray tans.  Frankly, these retail prices are somewhat suspect:  you can find spray tan deals all over the place for considerably less than $35 each!

This chain has about a zillion locations in and around Chicago – even Berwyn has one!  So if your SO has a love of all things tan and beautiful, it’s a nice gift.   and just so you know –  i like the sun without sunscreen…so there…
