Amazon 24/7!

You know we’re talking flashlights here, right? …one of my weaknesses.  Who do you think pushed Rachel to get those cool flashlights at Sears.  Damn skippy, folks!  I figure because I have flashlights in every room of the house that’s the reason we don’t get power failures. Denali Super Bright 9-LED Heavy-Duty Compact Aluminum Flashlight, 3-Pack is the Lightning Deal, where the price drops down to $10.99 for 3 flashlights. Hmmm, do I need any more? I don’t have any in the basement…yet…

See the pig flashlight?  It’s one of my kitchen flashlights – it goes oink, oink, oink, snort, OINK? when you push the bar and the head swivels up to show the lens.  Love it!

The above deal is now expired, so thought I’d check out the other Lightning Deals…Sonix Snap Slim Case for iPod touch 4G (Black)is currently down to $8.99, or 64% off.

More magazines?!  Well, for five bucks a year for Harper’s BAZAAR, why not? Don’t forget to cancel the auto-renew after you start receiving any magazines – there will always be a cheap price down the road that you can use to add to your current subscription.

Hey, here’s another deal for Seventeen for $5 a year!  I have to stop myself from adding to PITA’s subscription: I just checked and she will be in her 20’s when the current one ends.  But it’s so cheap

And here’s Better Homes & Gardens with a $5.99 yearly rate. I have to stop now; this is how I ended up with so many subscriptions two years ago…

Amazon

No, I’m not selling magazines door to door, although I do seem to running into quite a few deals the past couple of days.  $3 for Redbook (1-year auto-renewal)?  Pretty sweet.  Remember, you can (and should) cancel the auto-renew after you’ve started getting the magazine.   Then wait for the next deal and add on an additional year or two.

How about Marie Claire (1-year auto-renewal) for $5?  Same advice applies.

Moving up to the big bucks mags, here’s Vegetarian Times (1-year auto-renewal)for $7.

Esquire Magazine Amazon deal

The Esquire Lightning Deal that just started is for a 1-year subscription for only $4 (92% off)!  Come on now, you know your DH just loves to read those articles…

Amazon

A few items from my first black hole trip to Amazon:  First up is a KitchenAid KSM150PSWH Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, White for only $206.99 (41% off) with Free Shipping and a $30 MIR.   Other color options are available for upwards of $70 more.  These are really nice to have around – I use mine to make butter when I can find really, really cheap cream (best cream is starting to go sour…maybe I should be checking Doms more often).

Scooby Doo! First Frights for Wii is a Gold Box deal available for a limited time for a $9.99 price.  It’s showing $18.99 (then $12.99) until you put it in the cart and go to check-out, when it drops down to $9.99.  If you want this, better hurry, because once it’s gone, that’s all with these Amazon deals.

Next is Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 15-Ounce Tubs (Pack of 2) I’ve actually bought this and use it.  Since it melts when it touches your hand, it’s a very nice skin softener (don’t laugh, it is); used it for frying, baking and cooking. It has a lower burn temperature than other fats, so is not suitable for deep frying.  Foods cooked with it have a slight sweetness to them.

I’ll update this post as more “stuff” shows up.

More Amazon “stuff”

Alright, last item in my slog through the Amazon black hole looking for deals posts – promise.  There are a bunch of these stylus packages on clearance prices, however, most have varying shipping costs which surprisingly all translate to $4 total cost.  Wow, that’s weird – not.  Well, all except for this set selling for $1.52 with free shipping. New 4 Piece Stylus Pen Set Multi Color for Nintendo DS Lite Can these be used on the XL and other Nintendo handhelds?  If so, I better order some stat.

Amazon cool clothes

These are adorable! Rubie’s Costume Co Puss N Boots and other rompers are pretty cheap, considering their original prices.  If you just want to look around and smile, go for it.  replace those tattoo images with something far less disturbing.

Joy from Amazon – EVEN CHEAPER! – DEAD!

Update: the second:  The item description has now been changed to one bottle, which is no deal at all.  Next time, peeps, jump on this stuff.  My order still shows as active, I’ve received no cancellation email or notation on my account.

This item is now available for even less:  $1.29!  Joy Non-Ultra Dishwashing Liquid, Lemon Scent, 14 Ounce.  I just purchased 2 order of 25 bottles for a total, delivered price of $12.22.  There is no way I could match this price at any store, since each bottle would be high tax with the usual crummy .25 coupons.

This just doesn’t make sense: Joy Non-Ultra Dishwashing Liquid, Lemon Scent, 14 Ounce (Pack of 25) is going for $3.66 plus $7.93 shipping ($11.59 total)! And you can’t beat the convenience.  Scroll down further on the page, because there’s almost as good a deal on the antibacterial ones, too.

got a headsup on this from hip2save

Amazon

I’m going to list a few items that I think are cool (and cheap).  I learned my lesson on the shipping costs:  from now on I’ve set the filters to Amazon and free shipping only.  First is this Wilton Tombstone Comfort Grip Cutter for $3.64.  I don’t see this as solely a Halloween item, more for fun birthday cakes! If you check for similar items, they have a whole lot of deeply discounted shapes.

Next is two immersion blenders.  The first is my favorite because it’s got chopper and whisk attachments and, at $41.98, is almost 60% off. Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender With Whisk & Chopper Attachments (HB-154PC).

The other is the Cuisinart CSB-76 SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, White for $28.39 (almost 50% off).  I had a similar one – someone broke it…

Tao of Tea

Well, I learned my lesson about posting Amazon deals that sound sweet – until you see the shipping charges.   When you’re used to free, you’re spoiled for anything else.

I saw this deal earlier today, didn’t post it and now wish I had.  It’s The Tao of Tea, Darjeeling Muscatel Black Tea, Loose Leaf, 3.5-Ounce Tins (Pack of 2).  It’s on a 50% temporary price reduction.  Don’t know how a muscatel would be, but I love black tea and I love sweeter grapes, so I’m going for it since THE BOY has Student Prime.  Might even get two orders.  You can buy cheap tea (aka tea dust) or spend a couple of bucks on some decent brew.  If you’re going to pretend you’re on a cruise ship and your only decision is whether the mani or pedi should go first – that’s when you need the high-quality stuff!  The Titantic did not serve Shoppers Value!

Amazon Frugal Fridays

I think I’m going to list a few of the things I think are either cool and cheap or great and cheap: note the qualifier “cheap” here. First up is a Sesame Street Easy Grasp Fork and Spoon for $.45! Wow, I’d buy multiples and give them to the grandparents, keep a set in the diaper bag, never be without their favorites, but I don’t think PITA would appreciate this as a birthday gift…

Next is some incredibly cheap Gerber Dry Cereals Cereal.  These are the single grain, 8 oz boxes and they’re going for .49/each.

And now onto Weleda Calendula Baby Oil. I have personal experience with this company and their calendula line of products. When PITA was a baby (and still somewhat to this day), she suffered from patches of very dry skin. Dry enough to warrant visits to the doctors, who recommended cortisone creams. Wrong on so many levels.  First those creams work quickly, but over time thin the skin, so you’re in a worse place, imo.  Calendula relieves the itch and heals the patchy sections with no side effects. Note, though, that if your family suffers from ragweed allergies, there might be a slight reaction.  While we never experienced this, I’m throwing it out just in case.   For .87/bottle you get some great stuff.  Goddess does not jest.  Try this travel size and get hooked.

Last (for now) is Breck Kids Spray-On Detangler, 8 oz in Amazing Apple scent for .65. While I prefer free, I have to admit that I have never seen Breck products go for that low.  And remember that the purpose of deals is to free up cash to spend on stuff we just can’t get deals on.  If this is a fave for your family, stock up.
