Wags 2/5 merrily we roll along

If any of you are doing some flipping next week at Wags, here’s a little deal you might want to consider.  Should not be a problem with getting any of these, but make sure you place your orders immediately (unless you only plan to hit up a few stores).

Buy two Colgate (Total Advanced or Gum Defense toothpaste 4 oz) at two for $6 plus one Sheets Energy Strips and one St. Joseph 81 mg aspirin. Total is $12 less two $1 Colgate coupons from 1/15 S (Tylenol cover).  Pay $10 plus tax (high for Colgate and Sheets; low for St. Joseph).  Get back $4 RR from Colgate, $3.99 from Sheets and $2 from St. Joseph or a total of approximately $10.

Take those RRs and buy one Wet Synergy lubricant and four pocket tissues.  Your total at this point is $11, so use this $1 IP and $10 in RRs from the prior transaction plus tax.  Get back a $10 RR.  Rinse and repeat.  Note:  I’m sure the Wet coupon has a print limit…I just don’t know what it is!

Wags 2/19 – update

So far there is no indication that the Sunday inserts will have a Schick Hydro coupon – nothing shows for either 2/5 or 2/19.  Obviously there could be one in the 2/12 inserts and of course, we never know what IPs will suddenly appear!  I am really jonesing for a good razor deal, I don’t mind telling you.

Goddess learned her lesson.  Rule No. 1:  No posting of deals until I’ve put in my own order!  So here’s the scoop on the first one.  One of the Tylenol Precise patches (3 or 4 pack) and cream will be on sale for $5;  the ad says there is a $5 coupon in that Sunday’s inserts.  Not a MM, but a fine product to pick up for low tax.

The second deal is something that hasn’t come around in almost a year:  A razor deal that works!  Schick is introducing their latest razor, the Hydro 5 Power Select – a power razor with an LED to show you which vibration setting is in use.   On sale for $9.99 with a $4 RR, there’s no mention of a coupon yet, but that’s usually the way it works:  A week before or that same week there will be a high-value coupon to get that razor out into as many hands as possible.  Of course, like they say in the brokerage commercials:  Past performance is no guarantee…

Wags 2/26

For those of you taking Allegra, Walgreens will be having a great deal – the 70 ct box will be $40 (regular price), but the March IVC booklet has a $6 and there will be a $5 manufacturer coupon to stack with.  Not the cheapest price, but $11 is still a nice drop, since I doubt we’ll see any more of those $5 freebies from last April.  Of course, if they haven’t changed the wording on the $5 coupon …

Oh, and I might have switched the two coupon amounts ’cause I didn’t have a pen handy, but the $11 total discount is correct.

Pur recalled lot numbers – I transposed the 1013 prefix

Here’s a list of the NINE recalled lots of Pur iron.  I misunderstood the info – the Walgreens around Chicago all got the same lot number.  Here is the complete recall list:   All lot numbers start with 1013/, then the following numbers:  428, 429, 430, 431, 432, 436, 437, 438, 439.

Lots numbers 428, 429, 430 can also be found without the 1013 prefix.

If you purchased this earlier in the week, you’re gonna return them anyway, since they won’t do you any good without a Register Reward, right?

Bad news on the Wags Pur Absorb front – Update

Okay, here’s the latest update on the Pur situation/substitution.  Wags is giving us a choice of three items:  Bifera 30 ct. (normally $19.99), Walgreens Ferrous Sulfate 65 mg Iron Supplement Tablets 260 ct (normally $13.99) or Walgreens Ferrous Sulfate Tablets 100 ct (normally $8.99).  Obviously, we’d all pick the Bifera but Lisle only has two of these in stock.  They’re contacting other distributors to see if this product is available (’cause we’d like to get it in THIS WEEK) and what their cost would be.  Funny how the name brands aren’t in stock but they have lots of the Wags stuff, huh?  Will update once again with any news.

Yes, yes, we all know about the recall of the Pur Absorb iron supplement, which is going to impact our deals this week.  And it’s a trickle-down effect, since we won’t be running the same scenario.

The problem is that this is not a total recall but only one lot – unfortunately, it’s the one lot that every damned store in the Chicagoland area checked so far is carrying (this is one big-ass lot, people!).  Emails have been sent out to see what, if any, substitution can be made with a similar product (I’m pushing for the 60 ct Slow FE tablets), but until we get more info, our hands are tied.  It’s also important that stores have sufficient quantity of that substituted item (which would probably work with the Slow FE).

I’ll post immediately upon learning anything at all about this deal.  ’cause the goddess is pissed at wags lately.

Wags RR to roll 1/29

Been working on this one for a week or so and here’s what should be happening at Wags starting the 29th: Blink is gonna be FARR at $8.  You can print the following IPs to make a buck or $1.50 or use the $1 coupon in 1/15 S.

1.00 off Blink Tears or Blink Gel Tears
$1.50/1 Blink Tears Lubricating Eye Drops
$1.00/1 Blink Tears Lubricating Eye Drops

In the same transaction, throw in a bottle of St. Joseph 81 mg (low dose) aspirin which will be FARR of $2.  No coupons available.

Take the two RRs totaling $10 and pick up the Pur-Absorb Iron Supplement 28 packets that’s FARR of $10 (no coupons).  At this point you have to decide just what filler you’re going to use so that the second RR can attach to something – many people will choose the Valentine’s Day pencils or the Whitman hearts at .29.  I like those pocket tissues since they’re always useful.  Pay whatever the tax comes to and roll.

You will be using quite a few fillers, so make sure it’s something that you really need (tissues=good; cow tales=bad).  If you don’t have or don’t want to use the Blink coupons, you will only need one filler for one transaction – it’s the coupon amounts that throw things off.

The Lisle Wags is stocking up on lots of Whitman hearts, pencils and pocket tissues, in addition to the actual RR items.   Make sure to call your local Wags if you will require a significant quantity.

Another Wags to the Dark Side!

Yes, I’ve brought over another one!  Introducing Neikeia Pitman, the Store Manager of the Walgreens at the corner of North Aurora and Rte 59 in Naperville.  She’s eager to work with us and welcomes your special orders.  Call her at 630/961-5015; if she’s not in, speak with one of her asst managers.  We had a very long talk about coupons and stacking and RRs and she thinks it’s great.  I even ran the Cortaid/Triaminic to show her how it would have all worked as a sweet MM had the mfr shipped product.  She actually has stock of the bubblegum and grape flavored Fever Reducer strips (maybe 20 total), so if this is a product you actually need, head on over.  They don’t have any of the .5 oz Cortaid for overage, but buy the two Triaminic for $10, use the $6 in coupons and get back $5 in RRs.  Only a slight MM, but if it’s something you use anyway…

Don’t forget, if you place a special order with this store (as with any store), you are responsible for picking up that item(s).  If you call and they are able to turn over your order to someone else, then that’s a win-win situation.  If they are unable to find a buyer and  have no use/space, sorry, charlie, you bought it.  I don’t wanna hear about your coupons not showing up or being short of money ’cause you spent it all on hotties…don’t matter.  And why am I rehashing all this Couponing 101 nonsense right now?  This new Wags has had some problems with folks in the past placing large orders and then never bothering to come in or call.  remember The List …

Deals that die

Quite a bit of time is taken up with deals that fall through or insufficient product quantity.  Case in point:  Walgreens this week has the Triaminic potions and strips on sale 2/$10 with a $5 RR.  There are two coupons in 12/4 S – one $3/2 any Triaminic product and $3/1 for Triaminic Fever Reducer.  Well, you already know which one I’d use!  You would be $4 OOP plus low tax to get back $5 (and the products, but who cares about that).  This weeks ad has a $2 off coupon on any Cortaid which would be very nice when paired with the $3 Cortaid product in 1/8 S1.

It would work like this:  Buy four Cortaid .5 oz tubes for about $3.99 each, hand over the $3 coupons and you’re at $3.96.  Add the two Triaminic Fever Reducers less the two $3 coupons and you’re at $7.96.  Hand over the in-ad coupon and the register will automatically take off the $7.96, leaving you to pay low tax to get back a $5 RR!  Do this a few hundred times and hellllooo Disney!

except…mfr has shipped no Fever Reducer to the warehouse here or the one in Ohio (yes, I checked). The buyer at corporate had no idea if or when the product would come in.  Too much time was wasted over a non-starter.  And so the life of a Goddess goes…

However, carry the coupons with you and if you should come across any small stock at a Wags, run this deal once or twice.  If you only have those $2 tearpad coupon for fever reducer you will be up less $$.  And if you use the regular Triaminic products with the $3/2 coupon, you’ll be up $2.96.

Wags – Hanes BOGO

If you have a bunch of RRs to burn and don’t need any Jewel game pieces (aka kindling), Wags has Hanes underwear BOGO this week.  Men’s briefs, boxers, t-shirts and socks are included, as are women’s panties.  While the online ad doesn’t show children’s sizes, I think most Wags carry them.

Blink IP for Wags 1/29 sale

You HAVE to print this coupon because it’s gonna be FARR at Wags starting 1/29.  There was a $1 coupon in the 1/15 S, but unless you’re blessed with inserts from heaven, hit print.  Not much of a MM, but this is an excellent eye drop (and the $8 price reflects this!).

1.00 off Blink Tears or Blink Gel Tears

$1.50/1 Blink Tears Lubricating Eye Drops

$1.00/1 Blink Tears Lubricating Eye Drops
