Northern peeps rejoice – another dark Wags

We’ve gotten another Walgreens to shift to the dark side!  The Elgin Walgreens on Summit is very, very coupon-friendly and is eager to do our kind of business.  Here’s the vitals:

Stephanie is the ExA (Executive Assistant Mgr).
Phone numbers are (847) 695-5847 and (847) 695-5745.
Monday Noon is the order deadline – both deliveries come on Wednesday.
When you place a special order, leave your full name and a couple of contact phone numbers.   They do ask that we not descend on them on Sundays like brain-starved zombies – give ’em a few days into the week, por favor.

The good news is they have about 500 Nasal Ease in stock, with a couple of hundred of the other products (except Pepsi Next, which is pretty much overflowing at all Walgreens) – Stephanie will be calling around to scare up more of everything else we need for the rolls.

Bad news is that Elgin is in Crook County and has a 9% high tax, compared to 7.25% in Lisle and about 8% in Wheaton.  Realistically, though, it doesn’t matter how low your tax rate is if you don’t have the goods…

PSAs on various and sundry things

1.  The 4/15 Smart Source with the Band-aid on the cover has some very nice coupons and values – now if we can only line up some decent sales.  People always want to know how many papers they should pick up.  Tough call because if it’s an unadvertised special or super clearance or similar event, there isn’t enough time to buy coupons or even trade with others.  A large number of inserts offers me comfort.  That and the Yellow Tail MM…

2.  There are some truly decent deals coming up in the 4/29 CVS ad – I’ll post some scenarios later on today or tomorrow – plenty of time to get your supplies ready.

3.  Working on a very, very sweet rolling set of transactions at Wags for early May.  No coupons (yet) which sometimes just makes it easier for the roll, kwim?

4.  Working on finalizing details of using Steeple Run Walgreens as another source for specials.  Manager is totally in favor, but I want to make sure there’s one designated contact person and how it will be handled before I post.  Still looking for stores not pulling from Windsor, since having more than one or two warehouses would greatly increase our ability to get stock.

Mentos for MUM

Wanted to run a couple of the Mentos, just to be sure that everything works with sale/IVC/mfr coupons and the new registers.  While the coupons scan for 55¢,  I didn’t want to buy anything additional to use up the overage and instead had the last coupon marked down to 7¢.  Tax on these eight packs of gum was 57¢!  Sale runs through the end of the month, so don’t worry about racing over.  If you buy the Up2U gum and use the 2/$1 coupon, you will get a straight shot with no overage to worry about.

and don’t think the irony of buying PURE gum for MUM hasn’t struck me…

And pulling out something completely different –  I will be running a couple of Nasal Ease rolling transactions this Sunday afternoon and will post with pictures showing each transaction with coupons and Register Rewards and how it leads to the next transaction.  This might be a little complicated and sometimes it’s just easier when you can see the pictures in front of you, so don’t do anything until you’ve checked out the post, okay?

Lisle Walgreens PSA

Based on recent information, I’m calling a temporary halt to orders/dealings with the Lisle Walgreens.  Although I’ve been given permission to disclose more specifics, I don’t feel comfortable publishing details on a public forum.  Use the Contact tab if you want to pursue this privately.

Wags today – Mentos update

Even though the hard plastic containers are pictured in the IVC, the size restrictions include the UP2U gums and there is a $1/2 coupon right next to the 55¢ coupon in the 3/25 S.  I ran this just to guarantee it worked and, in point of fact, it was the ExA who pointed out that only the UP2U gum is 14 pieces – the Pure is 15.  So TWO FREE packs of UP2U gum from each insert!  If you want the Pure variety, you’ll need two inserts because the IVC is $1/2.  Only one insert?  Use the UP2U coupon only.  SWEET!

Stopped in at the Lisle Wags to see if they had any of the Luster 7 toothpaste for the $4.99 sale with a $4 RR deal that started, when, today?  time flies…

Used the $1.50 IP (no longer available), paid $3+ and got my $4 RR.  Unfortunately, lately Wags is a roll-free zone, but I’m doing okay with this stuff, so why not stock up?  The Luster Now is also on sale for $4.99 with a $4 RR.  There is no coupon out there for this product, but since the shelf price is usually over $9, it’s good enough for me to clear some shelves.

The Mentos gum is on sale for 99¢ and there’s both a $1/2 in the April IVC booklet and a 55¢ off one in 3/25 S.  Note that this is all high-tax stuff, so be prepared (about 12¢ for each two).  The nice thing is that since it’s not a RR deal, you can run these all in one transaction and frankly, it’s been some time since they had the regular Mentos for free.

Allegra update 2

Readers have said that they’ve found the 5-ct Allegra at Walgreens for $6.99, plus there is apparently a non-advertised price of $4.14 on it at Kroger.  Since it’s unadvertised, I can’t check if it’s also at Food4Less, but if anyone is heading over there, please check it out and report back.  Also, some CVS locations are substituting other brands – I’ve personally experienced this during other sales because the manager didn’t like giving out rain checks.

If you’ve been having difficulty finding the 5-ct packs of Allegra at Walmart or CVS, Osco has them on sale for $5.  make sure you have sufficient items for overage…  ’nuff said…  word to the wise and all that… Soft Soap is a buck a bottle…

Okay, I’ve been out doing some serious damage, but now I’m back.  Any questions, please use the contact tab.

Monday IPs from coupons.com

Colgate Orabase is a 20% benzocaine paste that relieves canker and other mouth sores.  Hasn’t been a Wags deal on this in a couple of years – nothing on CVS.  Lots of food coupons when you click to the actual coupons.com site (LOL butter, Frigo cheese…)
$1.00 off COLGATE ORABASE
$0.50 off 1 Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion
$20.00 off Bionaire or Holmes aer1 Ready
$10.00 off any Holmes or Bioniare aer1 Ready

Wags $25 gift card w/ transferred Rx

Another deal I forgot to post about, probably because Walgreens discriminates against healthy people.

Get a $25 Walgreens gift card with any transferred prescription.  In case you were all living in a cave the past few months, Walgreen’s took a huge hit when they left the Express Scripts network and then experienced a weak demand for flu shots.  Their second-quarter profits dropped almost 8%!  Ouch.  better start coming up with some better deals…

Goddess in disguise

Actually sitting on the floor, typing on a tethered computer – something went screwy on a software update (I think) and I have no wi-fi.  So until I can resolve this tomorrow, it’s a dark site.

In the meantime, I ran a few deals at Walgreens using the clearance and Friends and Family coupons.  One thing I’ve noticed is that the stores that have their clearance the least reduced are the ones looking to get more in sales, while the busiest stores want to just blow the clearance stuff out the door.  You can figure out which stores I prefer to patronize…

The Clairol was free after discount and $3 from 2/26 (I think) and lots of the .39 Snickers eggs.  The most expensive stuff was this originally $22 silicon lube stuff, which was down to $7 and which is already listed on Amazon.  Ended up paying $20, so a very, very good transaction.

4/1 Wags – Zantac deal

Here’s something to settle our nervous stomachs as we wait to see if Nasal Ease comes in:  This Sunday’s Smart Source is “supposed” to have a $5 coupon for Zantac which you stack with the $2 IVC in the April book.  Since the 24 ct 150 and/or 30 ct 75 Zantac is on sale for $7.99 starting the 1st, you’ve got some very cheap Zantac!
