It’s official – new link for new Wags

I’ve posted before about “darkening” more Wags – just because a store says it’s coupon/special order-friendly, does not make it so.  The Steeple Run Walgreens, located about 1 1/2 miles west of the Lisle Walgreens, also on Maple, has taken the step of setting up an email account just for us to use.  Here’s part of the email:

This is Mark from Walgreens on steeple run & maple in Naperville. I’ve created this email for you and anyone else on your site to set up orders. I’ll link it to my phone too when I have time so that I’ll be able to create orders for you on the go. Hutch (Goddess: the store manager) has given me the “go” for ordering anything you may need as a test run, but like I said before, I’ve ordered for couponers before and it’s been nothing but good in my experience.
So here’s the deets:  This is Walgreens store #10148; phone is (630) 717-9333.  The following is the order/deliver schedule good up until Memorial Day only (days shift after each holiday):  Order Thursday before noon for Saturday and Tuesday delivery.   Email Mark at [email protected].

I’m working on adding stores that pull from another warehouse to increase our odds of getting product.

The demise of Wags

I heard earlier today from a Walgreens employee who was upset over the planned move this fall to loyalty cards to replace the Register Rewards program.  When Walgreens ran this program in test markets, it was very easy to see that those people earning points got the shaft when compared to the RR-earners.

So now we have a company whose management team has taken their geriatric customer base and forced them to go online for half the new sales ad, buy two items to get the best price (rather more product than they want) and now force them to use a loyalty card to buy those same items.  Oh, but you earn points and can save up for valuable prizes!  woot!

So toss all those ingredients into the retail pot, together with a huge helping of pissing match with Express Scripts and Medco and a milder than usual flu season and what do you have?  Walgreens sales have tanked and honestly, I don’t know if our purchases will be enough to support them.

Wags – very clean & allergy-free

Got a frantic email from a Wags about a special order that the party wasn’t able to pick up.  Luckily that person called and gave the store enough time to dump the products…

Enter the Dumpee.  Drove over and picked up 25 of the number 2 transaction and the same for number 3.  Also picked up 24 of the Aquafresh kids toothpaste just for grins.  You see here everything that I’m too lazy to itemize or move to the basement.  I used Quaker Oats, tuna fish and Hunts for fillers.  Remember, if you have a choice between, say, a caramel and a can of Hunts…grab the can because it’s low tax and has a much longer shelf life.

More stock in Elgin Wags!

Heads up, peeps!  Just got a call from Elgin with some great news:  They have about 75-80 more Nasal Ease with double that amount of Purex!  Suhweet!  Since Chicagoland is pretty much cleared of Similasan, work the deal this way:

1.  One Nasal Ease and one Colgate Sensitive.  Use coupons and pay $6 plus tax.  Get back $9 and $2 RR.

2. Four Purex Ultra and a Pepsi Next.  Use the $9 RR from No. 1.  Get back .99 RR.

3.  One Nasal Ease, one Colgate Sensitive and one filler – at this point, use anything you can as the cheap filler, although I strongly recommend a low tax food item.  Pay with two coupons and the 99¢ RR from Pepsi.  Repeat transactions two and three ad infinitum…  Stephanie will be in at 2, but you don’t have to wait for her – – just give the store a call with your orders.

Pierre is the Store Manager.
Stephanie is the ExA (Executive Assistant Mgr).
Phone numbers are (847) 695-5847 and (847) 695-5745.

Back from the wars…

Just got back from a day well-spent at the Elgin Walgreens on Summit.  Many, many thanks for all the kindness extended by Pierre (mgr), Stephanie (ExA) and Matt (who got stuck completing the deals arranged on the fly when one product after another ran out!  And a special thanks for reader Keasha who turned us on to this store and made a point of stopping in to say hi.

I tried taking a picture, but the garage was just too dark – you’ll have to take my work for it.  I left the Summit store with about 100 of the Nasal Ease remaining in back and on the shelves, so if you are in need, check them out.  Once they ran out of the Similasan, I switched to the following two transactions (This might help if you run out of Similasan and need to switch gears in a hurry).

1.  One Nasal Ease and one Colgate Sensitive.  Use coupons and pay $6 plus tax.

2. Four Purex Ultra and a Pepsi Next.  Use the $9 RR from No. 1.

3.  One Nasal Ease, one Colgate Sensitive and one filler – I used the Hunts tomato sauce (switched to Nice later).  Pay with two coupons and the 99¢ RR from Pepsi.  Repeat transactions two and three.

When I was running the original set of transactions with the Similasan, I went through lots of Quaker Oats filler, black olive and tomato sauce fillers, tuna fish and two cans of tomato sauce fillers…just remember that you’re looking for the $1.50 mark to offset the $1.50 coupon.

Wags – 4/22

Slim pickins’ but I won’t mind a short break…
Psoriansin psoriasis relief gel (.75 oz) – $5 get $5 RR

I Cool with D Menopause Relief (45 count) – $10 get $10 RR.  There is a $2 I Cool coupon in 2/19 s.  You could always throw in a filler and use the $6 and $2 RRs from prior week.  Assuming you didn’t roll them, that is.  Otherwise?  blah so far.

Wags – 4/29-5/5

NO FARR deals this week, but you can pick up more of those Depend Silhouette Underwear (3 count) that they had at CVS:  $4.49 get $3.50 RR.  Use the $1.50 insert coupon from 4/15 s for a slight MM.

Pepsi Next $1 12 packs – no q’s!

I read this alert last night, but didn’t want to post until I could run it myself and be assured it wasn’t one of those freaky-deaky deals that never work when you try it.  kwim?

You see here three 12-packs of Pepsi Now which ring up at $2.99 each.  Use the $1 coupon from the April IVC booklet to get down to $6.65 (or so) – which includes high tax.  After you pay, a $3 RR prints out.  So your final cost is $3.62 (in my case) for three 12-packs of Pepsi Next.  While it’s not as good as the free 20 oz bottles, I’ll spring for the buck in this case.

Tweaking the 4/15 Wags roll

Bear with me here, folks, ’cause there’s a lot of variables to include for each transaction.  I’m going to spell out each roll now and then add pictures tomorrow of each roll, showing what I’m buying, what coupons I’m using and what RRs are generated

1.  Nasal Ease is $9.  Use the $5 coupon from 3/11 rp.  Pay $4 and get back $9 RR.  I actually paid $4.16 with tax.

2.  Similasan is $6.  Use the $1.50 from 4/1 ss.  Pay $4.50 get back $6 RR.
Colgate Sensitive toothpaste is $3.99. Use the $1 from 4/15 ss (the one with Band-Aids on the cover). Pay $2.99, get back $2 RR.
Since the Similasan coupon screwed up the numbers, find a $1.50 item to use as filler. I’ve listed some possibles at the bottom of the post.  In this picture I used the oatmeal.
You are now at $8.99, so use the $9 RR from transaction 1 (Nasal Ease), have the cashier mark down the RR by a penny and you’re finished with Transaction 2. You have gotten back $8 in RRs.  I paid 42¢ in tax.

3. Nasal Ease at $9 less $5 coupon. Pay $4 get a $9 RR.
Pepsi Next 20 oz bottles are .99 with a .99 RR. No coupons available.
Purex Ultra packs detergent is BOGO at $5.99. Use two $1 coupons from 3/11 rp and pay $3.99. No RRs generated here.  I paid $1.98.
Add one cheap filler for an RR from transaction 2 to attach to. Pay $8.98 (plus whatever filler you use) and get back $9.99 in RRs.  I used Hunts tomato sauce as filler.

Transactions 2 and 3 roll back and forth, but each time you finish transaction 3, you end up with the .99 Pepsi RR as a bonus.  This week the Pepsi Next was generating a FREE 1.25L Diet Coke cat – – wouldn’t it be a hoot if it continued? boo-hiss!

If you are looking for $1.50 fillers for transaction 2, I’d suggest the food stuff on sale with in-ad coupons: Hunts tomato sauce is 3/$1, Quaker Oats is 2/$3, Chicken of the Sea solid white tuna is 4/$5…you see, you are already paying high tax on the soap, Pepsi and toothpaste, so why not throw in some low tax stuff?

red plum IPs – $1 Aquafresh kids

Print out and use the $1 Aquafresh coupon to score your free kids toothpaste at Wags this week.  I posted this under the 4/15 deals for Walgreens, but this IP just appeared, giving you an additional two coupons per computer.  Print, clip and take to Wags, where the pump is on sale for $2.  Use the $1 coupon from April’s IVC paired with the $1 IP or 4/15 rp for FREE, not FARR, toothpaste!
