Retailmenot reminder

Just a quick reminder that if you’re planning on purchases and don’t have any discount codes  – gasp! –  always, always, always check out the Online Codes page at the top of this screen.  Enter the store/site in the search box and all current codes appear.  This is set as a live feed, so codes are the most up-to-date.  I cringe when people blithely surf without getting the absolute lowest discount codes possible first.

PSA – SOPA & PIPPA dropped…for now…

Just got an email that SOPA and PIPA were dropped by Congress today.  They will undoubtedly return in some form or other, riding along on another bill’s coat tails (as it were).  I don’t think the politicians were prepared for the backlash and, as we all know, the first duty of a politician is to get reelected…

Brita rebate update – good news!

The following appeared on the Brita FilterForGood Facebook Wall: “Hi Brita fans! Great news to report: We will be honoring all the mail-in rebates that were recently available! We apologize for all the inconvenience this caused. Thanks for you patience and sticking with Brita. Enjoy your rebates!”

If you really want a laugh, read some of the posts from people who do not see why anyone would ever get upset over not getting a rebate – totally miss the point.

Couponing etiquette

I really shouldn’t have to post this, but here it is:  If you place a special order, you must pick up your special order.  What don’t you understand?  Doesn’t matter what store or what product.  If something comes up (you don’t get your coupons or decide you don’t need the item or picked it up somewhere else), your first call is to the store to ask if they  have enough other buyers to take up the slack.  If the answer is no, then you either high-tail it over or you end up on The List.  Stores actually maintain a list of people who have placed special orders in the past and didn’t claim them.  Try ordering from them again and your order will not come in (won’t even get placed, but you’ll never know). Remember, you are giving them your name and phone number, so even those of you using an alias will eventually run out of names and numbers…

Remember that Angel Soft/Healthy Choice soup cat at Jewel?  The HC price spread was giving up incredible amounts of overage, which we were all applying to toilet paper.  I had a large order of this expensive toilet paper come in…with a notice that the warehouse had suppressed all the HC soup.  I paid a ton for that toilet paper.  Was I pissed – puhleez, but had I not picked it up I would have effectively burned my relationship with Jewel.  And if you think it’s easy to find stores to work with you on special orders, take another hit off that crack pipe.

Fannie May Xmas candy 75% off

Hope you’ve been stocking up on the Fannie May Christmas candy like I have!  Pounds of Pixies are going for $6.84 – peppermint bark is about $5.  They have BOGO gold boxes and deep discounts on the gift baskets.  Stop in at your local Fannie May store and check out what’s available. The sale should run until the end of the week, or they run out (I think Fannie May overestimated the amount they’d need, hence the sale).  Get your coffee and cheesecakes on the cheap.

PSA – retailmenot

Don’t forget to always check the Online Codes tab at the top of the page – it’s automatically updated with the latest and greatest promo codes.  If you don’t see your store listed, just enter it in the search box.  Why pay more than you have to?

CVS – PSA

I’m on the phone with Emily, who has asked that you hold off calling her for information on any week’s shipment until Wednesday early afternoon.  She gets no information on what the shipment contains, only what it doesn’t contain and even that is often times wrong.  While the truck might deliver in the morning, by the time the totes are sorted it’s early afternoon.

While she dearly loves talking with each and every one of you, it gets rather repetitive by the 20th phone call.

Savemore PSA update

The following post was published on November 29.  Rachel (MUM) has a link to the Better Business Bureau’s story entitled BBB Warns Daily Deal Shoppers about Complaints on SaveMore.com.  ’nuff said.

SaveMore – I stopped posting and then went back and deactivated all links back to August.  Heard stories from people who either did not get their orders or something was wrong.  A reader told me that he couldn’t unsubscribe to their emails without losing all his credits.  Since they didn’t have any deals that only allow site credit, who cared?  I tried to use site credit for a purchase a few weeks ago that specifically said it was allowed – – not only wouldn’t the deal go through, it kept asking for credit card information.  I was alarmed enough to delete all CC info. Phoned customer service where I was on hold for 25 minutes before getting the “leave a message” comment:  Still waiting on that callback…

PSA – booze rebate forms

Apparently there are enough of you out there who didn’t get the CVS ad with the liquor rebate forms – the $36 yellow tail and the $30 House of Bacardi (rum, gin, tequila, etc.) and are desperately in need.  I picked up a few of the inserts and if you shoot me your addys and what rebate forms you are looking for, I’ll try to accommodate you.  Please search through prior posts to see what we had earlier and if the rebate is valid in your state.  The $50 rebate is still available as is the $20 yellow tail (only good if you are limited in addresses to use because each rebate has a different offer code).

Don’t delay because most of these must be purchased if not by the end of December, then within the first few days of 2012.

One of the healthy living/eating emails I get is from Spark.com (don’t laugh).  This one contains their annual list of the worst restaurant foods for 2011.  I’ve listed the foods and nutritional info and if you want more details, click on the link.  And sadly, this list only makes me more hungry…
