Dominicks for Hefty bags & Tide erasers

photo.JPG
Poaching in Rachel’s Dominicks:  Nine boxes of Tide Eraser 4 ct and 10 boxes of Hefty freezer bags (realized I didn’t have ANY); they didn’t have any of the Squish’ems!, so got a rain check for 10 boxes. OOP was $6.36 – I now have 9 gas rewards available.  big whoop

Really cheap Starbucks @ Dominicks

viewMerchantCreativeHere’s a Starbucks promotion going on right now at Vons – – which is Safeway – – which is Dominicks!:   Buy 4 bags of the Star marked bags of coffee currently on JFU for $6.49.  Use this $2/2 coupon (this is a weird Revtrax coupon that seems to have an unlimited print – – with the same numbers – – your call).  You’ll be paying $21.96 after two coupons and earn a catalina good for $5 off any Starbucks gift card in the card mall.  Through October 19th, Starbucks has a rebate program that rewards your purchases:  4 Starred Bags earns you a $10 eGift card from Starbucks.  So if you buy a $15 SB card from the wall (the lowest value) and use the $5 off catalina to pay…you’ll be paying $31.96 for four bags of coffee, a $10 eGift card and a $15 physical gift card.  If you only use one of the printables, you pay $2 more.  Not bad, huh?  Now if I only liked their coffee…

shopping like it’s 2009: Dominicks-style!

photo.JPGOh my oh my, this week is going to blow all records since August of 2009, which I always have to cross myself when I say that (at least I stopped genuflecting!).  Here’s a list of what I just picked up at Dominicks:

16 boxes of Hefty sliders, quart and gallon sizes (no use for other types/sizes)
8 boxes of Dole Fruit Squish ’ems!
12 4 ct packs of Tide to go stain eraser

Use the $3/3 Tide coupon from the 9/1 P&G insert.  I had read that this coupon was beeping, but had no issues (I ran this at customer service, if that makes a difference.  This coupon specifically mentions Tide to go.
$1 Sole Squish’ems! coupon from 8/11 S
$1/2 Hefty coupon from 7/28 rp2

Total OOP was $7.31.

Free Fruit Squish’ems! @ Dominicks

photo.JPG
This week Dominicks has Dole Fruit Squish’ems! as part of a Buy 5 pay 99¢ each promo (I only saw apple; don’t know if there are other fruits).  Use the $1 coupon from 8/11S for FREE Squish’ems!  I paid 4¢ for these five boxes.  I didn’t have my coupons for Hefty sliders with me, but there is the same Buy 5 pay 99¢ each promotion for select varieties of them, too.  Use the $1/2 coupon from 7/28 rp2 and you’ll have 49¢ boxes!

Update:  Once you hit the five trigger, each additional item brings the cost down to 99¢ an item, so don’t worry about odd numbers of coupons.

Oral B battery toothbrushes for .49

photo.JPGDominicks has this toothbrush on sale for $3.49 – usual shelf price is between $6.99 and $7.49.  Use the $3 coupon from the August P&G expiring today, 8/31.  Even if your store does not have these tagged, they scan for the sale price.

Pay attention to the register because mine came up at $4.47 even though they were tagged $3.49!

Ultra, Dollar General & Dominicks

photo.JPG
At Ultra we got another 11 bags of Kingsford charcoal, eight Planters peanut butters (rain check), four Bayer baby aspirin, these clearance Gerber organic baby food (using that B4G1 IP) and some crazy-high sugar-free orange marmalade for MIL.  Gerber food was $1.50 after coupon, which may or may not be a great price – they’re going to the pantry.  Ended up spending roughly $46, of which almost $5 was tax!  Cashier was impressed – I, however, was upset that I had to pay anything…

photo.JPG

Dollar General for nine Clairol Balsam hair colors for $27.  Used the $5/$25 store coupon from the DG website and then $18 in mfr coupons.  OOP was $5.82 – lots of high tax.

Then to Dominicks for a couple of rotisserie chickens.  A couple ’cause guess who I ran into with the other three birds?  Rachel!  What a surprise.  Two chickens were $4 and low tax.  One went immediately into the stock pot and the second will follow in the morning.  I’ll check out the 63rd street store tomorrow for more, since it’s the last day the coupon is valid and two buck chickens are a thing of beauty.

Check your JFU price on the Ice Mountain 1L sparkling water – shelf price is $1 and my preferred price is  62¢.  Use the $1/2 coupon from 8/18 rp and pay 12¢ each.  Hey, I like free as much as anyone, but when it’s hot out, I can drink three of these in one day, easy!

PSA: PB&J and chicken

Ugh, though not together!  PITA and I are out the door to grab some last minute PB&J at Ultra (unfortunately our Walmart doesn’t carry Planters PB).  While we’re out check out the Grotty Groupons, the $10 Mystery Box (ooohhhh!) and the Sephora gift card.  Heck, why not drool over the China for 2 for $999 deal, which includes air!, while you’re at it!

This is a friendly reminder that today is the last day to get the 88¢ Planters peanut butter and Welch’s grape jelly/jam at Ultra (or to price match at a Walmart large enough to carry them) – or 38¢ each after the $1/2 coupons.

Limited numbers (if found at all) of the new Jewel Big Book – figures since it starts today…not real confident in the new owners…  If you find the old booklet (ask at customer service desk) you’ll still be able to use the $3 rotisserie chicken coupon until Saturday and Dominicks will once again have the chicken as their Friday $5 special (which can be extended on your card through Saturday’s coupon expiration date).  If you’re gonna be at Dominicks anyway, print and take these $0.55 off any Reser’s Deli Salad for some 44¢ salad.  Right now I’m on my second chicken in the stockpot – the first one got pulled out and all the meat removed (easily!).  I kept the same stock and dumped in a second chicken.  Kinda like a stockpot conveyer line; just think of how incredible that stock will taste by the time I finish!

.44 Reser’s salads @ Dominicks

Starting today, Dominicks has unlimited Reser’s salads for 99¢ on JFU; they’ve had a couple of 55¢ coupons off any Reser’s salads (different expiration dates) for about forever – at least on my card(s).  Print out a few of these coupons and extend that cheap streak.  Unless something very bizarre occurs, you won’t be able to use both the eCoupon and the print coupon on the same salad because they’re both mfr coupons.  However, if you buy more than two (or don’t have the coupons on your card), then print twice as many coupons as you have computers!  Reser’s has some incredible cole slaw and omg, the potato salads… great, now I’m hungry again…

Once you’ve clicked the Reser’s coupon, change your zip to 18051 (hello, Fogelsville, PA!) because they got a $1 coupon off Kettle chips (we got $1/2).  Dominicks has Kettle Chips for $1.99 either with in-ad coupon or an offer loaded on your card.  Either way, my fat ass will grab that bag for 99¢.

$0.55 off any Reser's Deli Salad

Dominicks will once again have the $5 rotisserie chicken as a Friday special, which can be extended through the weekend. Use the $3 coupon from Jewel to get $2 chicken.  This is the last hurrah for the coupon, since it expires Saturday, August 31st.

.24 Jimmy Dean sausage @ Dominicks

photo.JPGRachel texted me about this fantastic clearance on Jimmy Dean sausage chubs at Dominicks:  79¢ instead of their usual $5.49 price!  Dates are 8/24 and 8/25 for both regular and hot varieties.  Use the 55¢ coupon in the 8/18rp for 24¢ sausage – hey, if you have to pay for sausage…

This was at the Westmont store on Ogden, but since the rest of the stores pull from the same warehouse, there’s a very good chance other stores will have stock, although your price might be higher or lower.  There was also a 55¢ coupon in the 7/14 rp that expired 8/18 which you are also welcome to try, since most Dominicks seem to operate on the “if it scans, okay” premise.  When in doubt, use self-scan.

Oh, and don’t bother checking Westmont…

Are Dominicks employees carbon-based life forms? or are some…

maybe, I don’t know … ZOMBIES!?  ’cause that’s the only explanation I can come up with for when I tried to shop at the Dominicks on North Aurora (right after the Ogden turn).  I’d forgotten how completely clueless this store was/is when it comes to accepting coupons as a form of currency.  Because I had just come from Danada – formerly known as coupon naziland – where the cashier accepted my Purell coupons after a quick question to customer service.  In and out.

Not so at the North Aurora location.  Seriously, I only had 14 bottles and a carton of herb croissants (shut up).  First customer service guy said I couldn’t use the coupons because then the item would be free and they’re not allowed to do that.  Yeah, I rolled my eyes, too, and then pointed out that if coupons weren’t a form of currency, I wouldn’t have to pay tax on my purchases.   Another cs person was just about to go home or going on break or something, but she stopped to help them solve this huge mathematical problem, rather on the order of calculating pi.  I showed them my Danada Square receipt, but that didn’t matter because apparently every store handles coupons differently.  They tried running it in sets of five, then four.  I told them to just run them all without my card, use the coupons and then scan my card.  No, because then I would be getting that extra penny on each coupon.  Then mark the coupons down to 99¢ – you’re not allowed to change coupons.

Well, you know what I did – said cancel the entire transaction and give me back my coupons.  Never thought I’d see the day when Danada rocked over coupons.  gotta rush out and buy me a lottery ticket…
