PSA – Jewel Fresh & Fun booklets

Stopped at customer service to pick up a book or two and was told that corporate had directed them to pull all remaining booklets because “it was a Memorial Day promotion.”  Mind you, I believe my CS people, but if this is a Memorial Day deal, why do the dates go for another couple of weeks?  hmmm, enquiring minds want to know…

Having said that, if you do see any booklets, snatch them up with both hands.  The $1 Stockman & Dakota pub burgers coupon expires TODAY!  The $1 Essential Everyday coupon gives you until the 20th.

I’ve had people drool at the thought of my stockpile – yeah, it’s pretty awesome.  Here’s a picture of some of the Starbucks Refreshers I picked up – needed two cars for this load.  So far I’ve picked up over 700 of the various flavors.  And no, that’s not a large amount, considering we will probably have a hot summer, the cases have a very small footprint so don’t take up much basement space and the expiration dates are all into late fall.  Oh, and at 25% juice, they have health benefits.  i can delude myself like that…

Free toothbrushes at CVS & more garage saling

The Magic Coupon Machine is generating $1 off any toothbrush for all cards – if it doesn’t show up on the first scan, it will on the second.  You then have a couple of choices  Take the CVS brand toothpaste currently on sale for 99¢ or go for the Colgate Optical Whitener toothbrush that usually sells for $5.79.  It’s on sale for $2.99 with $2 ecgs, leaving you with a balance of 99¢ which you pay with the store coupon.  There is no mfr coupon out, so not a MM.

Stopped at yesterday’s garage sale to see what was left – this picture is of PITA sitting on the pile of clothing remaining after eight days of people sorting and buying…yeah, it’s a lot.  Got another bag full (including new UGG boots) for $5.  feeling rich…

Day tripping & I love a garage sale

Picked up the nail polish at CVS where it’s on sale this week for 99¢.  Use the $1 coupon from 5/13 rp on ANY Wet & Wild product for FREE nail polish.  Walgreens also has displays of the Wet & Wild products which inlcudes eye colors, polishes, mascaras that are normally $1.99, but now are selling for 99¢.  So FREE makeup.  Note that not all inserts carried this coupon – we found it in the Trib and their Deals Delivered subsidiary, but not in the Sun Times.  Don’t worry if you don’t see the polish color you want at CVS – get a rain check ’cause the coupon is good for weeks.

What’s better than a garage sale full of “stuff?”  NWT stuff.  We’re talking Vicky’s Secret, Wolverine, Aerostopole, Structure, high end lines from Kohl’s…used stuff was J. Crew, White House/Black Market, Doc Martens…lots and lots of goodies to sift through.  It’s been going on for a week – should have stopped by earlier!

CUB – Free month of electricity to Chicago area residents

CUB Energy in Chicago is giving one month of free electricity to one in every ten people who sign up and link to their utility accounts before June 1st.  You can sign up for the promotion by going to cubenergysaver.com/Earth.  Winner members will get their April (Earth Month) bills paid.

CUB Energy Saver is a free, online, and interactive tool to educate Illinois residents about

energy efficiency.  Members can learn ways to save energy in their home, track how much they have saved, and earn points redeemable for coupons at local and national retailers for every kilo-watt hour they cut from their bill.  CUB Energy Saver is sponsored by the Citizens Utility Board, a non profit consumer advocacy group.  You can take a look at the website at CUBenergysaver.com.

Their mission is to educate residents about energy efficiency and motivate people to conserve in their homes.  CUB is the organization that always protests those horrible rate hikes the utilities try to cram down our throats.

Finally got around to trying these berry chiller deals at McDonalds…I know, I know, what was I waiting for, right?  Well, I am blown away by these – they’re refreshing, tart and like drinking raspberries through a wide straw.  Yeah, that good.

The only negative?  major brainfreeze…..

I have a luncheon and play today with PITA and then quite a few errands to run – one being to use up all those $10 freebie coupons at CPS from Thursday’s Sun Times and Trib.  I’ll be back with more deals, etc. in a few hours.

Inserts for 5/20

This week we get three inserts, two Smart Sources and one red plum.  The red plum is the Unilever edition, so lots of possibilities for the Unilever $5 off  instantly when you buy 10 Unilever products that’s running at Ultra.  I’ve also included a picture of the Parade Magazine cover with the McDonald’s FREE Cherry Berry Chiller peelie – Don’t accidentally throw this one out!  dunna old guy on the cover – didn’t he used to be married to Demi Moore?

Fannie May outlet sale/no sale

It’s confusing.  I called the Fannie May outlet in Melrose Park to learn if they were going to run that fantastic warehouse sale again this year (it was right about now).  Turns out that the sale wasn’t run by Fannie May at all, but by Design Pac, a company in the same building that makes gift baskets, etc. (which explains all the jars of olives and things).  Apparently Fannie May put out a bunch of their overstocks, etc. and the sales were so fantastic that they’re considering doing it again.  As for now, while the outlet prices are much better than the retail stores (Colonial Assortment is $5.99 a pound and what, $22.99? a pound at the retail level), Jewel frequently has this stuff on BOGO, which is still not as cheap as the outlet, but if you drive to Melrose Park you not only spend the gas and time, but you will be buying a hell of a lot more candy to justify the time and gas money spent getting there!  Oh, like you won’t!
