It gives me joy as a bad mother to know that we’ve been experiencing better weather here in Chicago over the past few days (forget today!) than FirstBorn has in Las Vegas 🙂  Monday it rained and yesterday had a high of 64° with drizzle – my backyard was 84° and sunny.

Yesterday FirstBorn and friend went to this unknown eatery – Stripburger – in the same building as Maggiano’s Little Italy.  Is this entire nation now just a series of national chains?

So once again FirstBorn & BFF travel the friendly skies of SWA to visit someplace warm where they can stay up all night and eat and drink crap – – how is this a change?  This year they’re at an extended-stay motel just off The Strip, which to me would mean cooking in a kitchen – obviously we don’t think alike.  Fridge is also stocked differently than mine would be.

This is a huge, more traditional taqueria like those here, with an entire back wall of fry tops.  Every fast food place they’ve checked so far has had lines out the door at night; this was a mid-afternoon crowd.  Hopefully this is a weekend issue, because with a city that’s still at 50% capacity and already looks like this …

Now that vaccination has been opened to almost all age groups, time to rerun this post!

Both Office Max/Office Depot and Staples are offering free lamination of your Covid-19 card – well, they photocopy both sides and laminate that while you retain the original.  Office Max/Office Depot offer is valid through July 25th and requires that you bring in the coupon, while the Staples program hasn’t announced an end date and there is no coupon or code required.  You also don’t need loyalty accounts with either store. Make sure that the plastic lamination completely seals all four sides because if they cut too close to the paper the seal won’t hold.

No longer focusing on the April 18, 2013 nightmare that was the DuPage County Flood (read those posts if you want more pictures) because so many lost everything, so here’s a shot of what I see out my side windows. Houses to the north of me were demolished; the land is now an official DuPage County Wetlands Prairie – even got a neat metal sign!  Last year was the first for prairie grasses because they take longer to germinate than flowers.  Every year will be more interesting, since something like 55 different seeds were planted. Little House on the Prairie – with internet  🙂

With our newly laminated Covid vaccination cards in hand we now have the King’s permission to leave our village…or so it seems.  Pita and I haven’t been anywhere since 2019 – unless you count that road trip last week to get our teeth cleaned.

According to a CNN article, both Office Max/Office Depot and Staples are offering free lamination of your Covid-19 card – well, they make a copy of both sides and laminate that while you retain the original.  Office Max/Office Depot offer is valid through July 25th and requires that you bring in the coupon, while the Staples program hasn’t announced an end date and there is no coupon or code required.
