I’m throwing out this Groupon because 1) It’s Car-X, so there’s tons of convenient locations and 2) oil change + wiper blades alone is worth the voucher price, so the tire rotation is a bonus. For $25 yeah, but is it worth the “retail” price of $73? hmmmm

Today’s Groupon
[ad#cj-1]Wine tastings can be a lot of fun – you and a couple of friends have small amounts of a number of wines. You taste types you’ve never have heard of or ones too expensive to consider previously. It makes for a fun evening where you combine booze and learning – oh, wait, that’s called the college experience, right?
This $12 voucher is for a $25 wine tasting at The Cellar Door Bistro & Wine Shop in downtown Downers Grove; you have your choice of five dates in November and December.
Groupon addiction
Popcorn! caramel – kettle – cheese – butter – mixed – oh my! Today’s Groupon is for a $25 voucher for $12 to Kernel Fabyan’s “Gourmet” popcorn. Two locations: downtown Naperville and Geneva – a new location in Deer Park is not included – but you can also purchase on-line. I went to their website to see what prices/deals they have and only found prices for tins, suitable for shipping ($26 base price). Mayhap you want to try this? Way, way, way, too dangerous for me
Groupon mani-pedi
As posted earlier, I’m a big fan of taking time for yourself – if everyone in the family depends on you, what happens when/if you get sick or stressed out? Oh, already at that point? Treat yourself to a mani-pedi or even a manicure. If you don’t want/like polish, have them buff instead. It’s the whole experience that keeps you sane. Having said all that, Groupon has some nice stuff on their daily deals page. Check out the cheap yoga classes in the side bar…
Groupon
I was gonna say something snarky about the pitiful Groupon deals lately, but then remembered those wonderful pastries from Bleeding Heart bakery…
Today’s Groupon is for a 30 minute private lesson at the Bulls/White Sox Training Academy for $25 (or 53% off the usual price). Apparently enough people have an interest in this sort of thing to allow for multiple locations.
Another Groupon on the side bar is for City Soles, an upscale shoe store with two Chicago locations. Warning: the cheapest shoes I found on their site were ballerina flats for 90 bucks. Yep, almost a hundred smackers (you don’t want to know how much higher the prices go…).
Groupon
[ad#cj-1] today is for 1/2 price drinks at Hala Kahiki in River Grove (near Triton College). This place has been here for, like, a bazillion years, never-changing and tacky as hell. When the cold and snow eventually comes (global warming notwithstanding), roll into high temps and your choice from over 100 large umbrella drinks.
I would drive by this place all the time, and for the life of me, couldn’t remember the name; it was always Kalooki looki in my brainbox and everyone else knew what I was talking about. Had this just started happening, I’d be real worried about my memory going…
Groupon delight
Used one of the three Groupon vouchers I bought to the Bleeding Heart bakery in Oak Park. The deal ran a couple of weeks ago and the vouchers are good for a year. Here’s a shot of what you get for your money. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of stuffs available and the money saved…I think the scones were over 3 bucks alone! So let’s hear it for Groupon…
Daily Herald cheapie
Today’s [ad#cj-1] is a pretty good one. The Daily Herald – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday – six months – $15. While the Herald doesn’t have as fantastic a set of coupons as the Tribune, it probably has a slight edge over the Sun Times. The articles actually have relevance to the suburbs. Let’s face it, if it weren’t for all the stories of violence throughout Chicagoland, the Trib would be one mighty skinny paper!
Build-a-Bear Groupon
[ad#cj-1]This 1/2 price deal is pretty neat. My daughter made one of these back in the dark ages and it was pretty cute, albeit expensive as hell! So, for 1/2 price you can be your child’s hero – at least until the dreaded teen years.
Check out the deets here. My guess is these are gonna go pretty fast, since they’d make nice gifts for relative-type rugrats.
I only pick out things I feel are pretty good Groupon deals; obviously my taste (or lack thereof) won’t always jive with your interests, so you can always click on the right column button to check out all the potentials for that day… it’s the internet version of window-shopping!
Today’s Christmas Groupon
Well, since Halloween is over, must mean Christmas is just around the corner; whatever happened to Thanksgiving? you may well ask. Since it never became a commercial windfall, it only serves as a resting point between Halloween and Black Friday (wait, I mean Christmas).
Today’s [ad#cj-1] is for $40 of holiday stuff for $19 at Alsip Home and Nursery (two locations – Frankfort and St John – and no, I don’t know where either of ’em is).
