new IL law means no register surprises

The thing we ALL hate – sale price doesn’t show in the screen and you’re told “it’ll come off when you hit finish and pay” … only it doesn’t and you either forget about it, wait for the cashier to get assistance (while pissing off all the people in line) or drag your sorry ass over to customer service where you wait for someone to show up.  New law signed in Illinois means that damned register has to show both the regular and sale price as the item is scanned, not at the end when it’s pretty much too late.  Here’s the Coupons in the News article.

Sadly, the fine is only $25, with a maximum of $500 per retailer per year, so less than they’re probably scamming per day per chain 🙁

Goodwill shopping

Bought only three bits of clothing and ALL were brand new!  Even better, one was the half price color this week ($1.14!), so after discounts I was only out $15.  Mama Bear pair had a $52 price tag; the other two might have had tags removed, but kept their original creases.

$20/$40 coupon in new Amazon Fresh ad

Contrary to what the cashiers were told – weeks ago – we have another week of the $20/$40 coupon .  Last week the in-store ads did not contain the coupon, it was only available in the newspaper ads and online.  Some store have been told not to accept phone scans of the QR code; print out the Amazon Fresh ad or pull it up at the register, since it does have the coupon and QR code and they’ll accept that.
